Car: RUF RT12 R AWD
Track: Silverstone International


For many years,RUF replaced Porsches in various racing titles. I remeber my days in Gran Turismo 4 on PS2,were i would drive the half dozen "Porsches" and wondering why on earth would a company use an imitation over the original stuff.Little did i know it was due to the infamous deal Porsche did with EA,and because of that,us players could not enjoy the wonders made by the german manufacter outside Need for Speed games.
Or did we?
Thruth is,RUF does an admiral job with Porsche cars.Most of their vehicles are as good,if not better,than the original ones.The star of their lineup is obviously the Yellowbird,once one of the fastes cars in the world. Their cars are usually more agressive and powerfull than the original ones,and more difficult to handle aswell.
But then,2016 arrived and with it,so did Porsche on Assetto Corsa (and other titles).And RUF,the warrior brand that for years filled the huge gap made from the abcence of the Stuggart brand,fell. No more RUF it seems,turns out Porsche doesn't want them to be in any game they are present.A shame,indeed.
This weeks car is very powerfull, a step away from being considered a hypercar.730bhp is more than enough to keep us entretain,isn't it?


For many an infamous track,Silverstone is quite good once you get a grip of it.A rather plain circuit with no elevations or wahtsoever,this short version is not that hard compared to the GP layout.Still,it will be quite the challenge to lap it with the Por,i mean,the RUF.We are in for fast laptimes,so if you take too much time going in an out,you know you are doing a bad job

Mode: Hotlap
Time of day: Free
Ambient Temp: 26 Degrees
Setup: Free
Controller: Free
Assists: Factory
Stability: Free

If it isn't mentioned here then assume the setting is free.

Please make sure you have the ambient temperature set correctly, and that you are in hotlap mode, I really don't like disallowing times!

Sunday May 10th 2018 - 22:00 GMT.

How to take part!
To enter simply head into the game select Drive > Hotlap and choose the RUF RT12 R AWD and head to Silverstone International. Make sure you setup the session using the settings detailed in this thread and hit the track!

You can run as many laps as you like and update your times as often as you like, its simple All Platforms are welcome, it is all about having fun and enjoying Assetto Corsa.

To submit a time, pause the game and select 'session' from the menu and screenshot this page or take a photo of your screen and post it in this thread - Note all the information from the screen is required including temperature, mode heading and of course the car being used!

Feel free to post video clips and share information in here as well, but without the session screen your time will not be included (placing the session screen in a video clip is acceptable).

You also need to state the time and your platform in the body of your post, this should be the first thing you do, the image should then be placed below the text. It would also be helpful to mark updated times with Improvement. This makes collating the results much easier.Also,to avoid mistakes on laptimes,please enter them with the format x.xx.xxx. This format makes it easier to work with Excell.
A leader board will be collated from time to time, this will keep everyone up to date on where they currently stand...Unfortunately editing of posts gets locked on this forum so this post will not be updated.

Feel free to use the unofficial leaderboard but remember you still need to include the session screen in this thread to be included in the results.

What a beast to drive around curvy Silverstone national. I had to decrease the 100% force on my Fanatec wheel to 80% to avoid a very annoying cluncky sound in my wheelbase when turning hard...ps does anyone have a solution for that?

This is fun! Full throttle through the corners, who dares!?

I find myself driving the non-AWD RT12 R around straight-heavy circuits like Monza and Highlands every now and then, so I thought I might like this one. Turns out that's probably not happening with all the understeer on exhibit here. Well, at least it's behavior is not nearly as volatile as that other infamous RUF car...

 

Hey, Brian. It's international, not national. I saw your time and thought, holy s£&t, that's fast before I realised you are at the wrong track.

Yeah understeer is like the signature mark of RUF. I remember they could be quite nervous in GT4 aswell

 

Damn. You all making it look easy to get 1:12s and better!

I feel like I'm missing the racing line (and therefore exit speed) out of Becketts while also spending too much time going through Stowe. Got into the mid 1:13s, but I'll update later with hopefully a 1:12. Seriously, after this week I'll be sure to distance myself from this car and its excruciating understeer. Much more enjoyable to make the Yellowbird dance around the Nurburgring Sprint track... haha

 

Doesn't seem my favourite combo, but interesting one. I like the variety of the challenges, Hugo!
As always, I can try it only Saturday, until then I'm seeing your times and dreaming of driving...
I think 1:11's are really good times.

 

Maybe it will help when you increase the front spoiler for ensuring not so much understeer. First I thought, well this car is undriveable but after playing with the setup it worked for me a little bit better. But this car don't like breaking at all
