1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

A little help driving without traction and stability control

That's correct but I think the author is speaking of the stock TC setting wich is pretty high (low in game). I saw some gt3s on the real track oversteering pretty much. They choose the TC setting as low as possible depending on tyre status and track grip just so they don't loose the car completely. So they don't really use it. Like a 7/7 setting in game.
Just saw kofotsjanne already stated this so my whole story is pointless. Damn :D

  2. Hey Ravage, checking in to see how things are working out for you.

Have you been able to improve things? Did Enhanced Understeer help, or hurt?

I found this video excellent at explaining car balance.

There are some things that are not completely intuitive until you know how a car behaves.

One problem I had at the start was complete ignorance of lift off oversteer. I'd go into a corner and start to lose the rear, so I'd take my foot off the accelerator only for the car to snap round on me. It made no sense to me until I understood I was sending the balance of the car forward killing my rear end grip.

  4. Pretty good! I ended up turning off traction control too because I felt like I wasn't being punished enough for excess throttle. Here's a little video of me doing a lap with the F40 if you have any tips!

  5. That looked pretty smooth man. Good job.

What size screen are you using? Your FOV is very zoomed in. I use a 23" and an FOV of 40 feels right for me. It's a tricky thing. I think most people around this screen size prefer something around 40, but not everyone.

Tweaking your FOV till it suits you best can help to detect when your rear begins to step out. Plus if you can get some more peripheral vision it can/might help with your braking points.

  6. Thanks! and I know, it aggravates me how close it is. I'm using a FOV of 32. I used the FOV calculator and my recommended FOV is 28!!! I think I'm going to turn it up more because I can't even see the RPM's in the cars anymore.

  7. Yea, if I use the FOV calculator, it recommends 28 as well. The thing you have to understand is that the FOV calculator is calculating what FOV is going to provide you with a true 1 to 1. Meaning 28 will give you everything in it's true size; the steering wheel will be the same size on your screen as in reality.

But as you found out, this really limits your peripheral vision, and makes things very tunnel vision--at least on our size screens. Try 40. I use 40, and I actually always move the seat/view position back a lot so I can see a bit out of the side window.

  8. I use an FOV of 50 degrees on my 24" widescreen monitor.

  9. Yeah I set it back to 40 which is where I originally had it. I'm using a 27" 2560x1440p monitor. Much better now. BTW that enhanced under steer effect is incredible!

Pls learn to use a mathematical correct FOV. Don't be irritated not seeing the virtual gauges. And don't care too much about peripheral vision.
With a correct FOV, after getting used to it ofc, you will benefit from a much better spatial awareness. Everything has the right dimensions, the track width, the corner radii, etc. It will gain you seconds of lap time!
And don't listen to those "it will loose you sense of speed" apologists! It's just an illusion. Look just in front of your car and see the Tarmac speeding by, it will do.
To validate this point just look at YT onboard shots, they also look really slow. But they aren't. Get the real thing, instead of canned speedboosts. You will appreciate it in some time.

  11.

Glad to hear that helped you. :)

Could you feel any understeer with it disabled?

  12. I use 39 on a single 27" monitor. I don't care about "realistic FOV", with one monitor you have to compromise, simple as that.

A correct FOV does make things better in some sense, I would say that it makes everything more realistic. But it's horrible driving through such a narrow window.

I'm not to bothered about it for now. The rift will solve that problem.

Im using correct fov +5-10 or so, its a good start. But tbh even if someone driving with 80 fov or whatever in AC, I couldnt care less as long as they enjoying their game their way.
Saying that people should drive with this and that fov because its the most realistic, on a single monitor, they just kidding themselves, imo.

  15. I didn't realize it but I couldn't feel understeer with it disabled. It's a world of difference now!

Correct FOV on a single screen slows the speed sensation down and can mess with your head. You feel like you go 50km/h while you actually do 150km/h. That can cause all sorts of nastiness. You can learn if you keep at it, but its Always nicer to step back a bit, get more peripheral vision and get some speed feeling as well. With triple screen it all Changes. Low FOV, slow sensation on the middle screen, but the side screens show your brain how fast it really goes. So you get speed feeling with realistic size of the track (like looking through a window).

Anyhoo, driving the F40 looked good OP. Better laptimes comes with experience. Just tweak your FOV etc and then just drive. You'll climb the charts soon enough. :)

  17. And on this again, which I throw up the BS flag. Ace Pumpkin, or anyone else who might buy into this logic, or who might be considering:

Watch this video on FOV in game design by FZD School of Design.

It's 9 minutes long. But it will make FOV perfectly clear.

  19. Thanks everyone! I'm uploading a run that I'm pretty happy with right now. I'm using the Corvette C7R @ Brands Hatch Indy with all assists off except for ABS set to factory and I got a time of 46.837. I'll post it when it's done uploading. Very happy with that time! Glad I'm finally starting to understand driving without the safety nets!

P.S. I'm using the recommended FOV at the moment because I got used to it and I wasn't doing too well when I turned it up. Guess I'm going to have to get more monitors ;) I'm sure my OC'd 980 Ti will be able to handle it!

Edit: and you might have read OPs last post...
Edit2: I shouldn't have brought this Topic up here in the first place, I know. Too late of an hour and to much wine involved. I apologize. But after the replys I had to make one more comment.
    Peace.
