1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

AC really really quiet?

  1. they're saying the M6 GT3 is not under production and it was confirmed for this year so I don't expect any other content on 2018 man. maybe it's just me, but sometimes you gotta read between the lines and that's what I read.

Combining this announcement with the one that they're evaluating platforms for ACNext does make it pretty clear that major work on ACNow is winding down. I'm not sure why that means it needs to be abandoned by players, though. What's the logic there? We all play with great interest while bugs are being fixed and new features developed, and then when the work is done and the game is at the apex of its quality we all leave for the next game? I mean...

Which leads to a great question imo : If ACNext comes a day or another, will we ACNow owners be able to do a sort of migration from our content to the new tech platform ? I mean that I'm full ok with giving them another 60 euros ticket for it and more for brand new content, but paying twice for some cars wich wouldn't be diffrently moddeled, and above all waiting so long for all those contents to be brought up again (maybe 2-3 years ??)

So I guess and hope that Kunos, in case of ACNext confirmed, will make that all ACNow owners could easily switch to ACNext with all this (new base) content.
But speaking of AC2, didn't they say it was very compromised that we would ever get the rain in Assetto Corsa, given the extreme hardware load it would lead to, in order to do the things realistically ? (puddles, elevations, rain and water flows, etc)

The business model that makes more sense is payed DLCs with continued development of the core engine. Doing it differently only ensures that the number of content will always be limited. The argument that you can't change the core engine because you have to stick with the minimum hardware requirements is just going against the the sense of history. It is like saying that you cannot grow because your clothes won't fit.
The world cannot wait for those that can't or don't want to update their hardware.

Edit: Flightsims are the best compromise; new versions compatible with content from older versions, but that doesn't seem feasible in steam.

When you when grow you buy new clothes, you don't alter the clothes to accomodate your longer legs, arms.. Although there will certainly be aspects of the AC code that will find its way into the next sim that Kunos decides to make. Just like Assetto Corsa evolved from Netkr and Ferrari Virtual Academy.

Either way why does it matter? AC will be around with tracks and cars continuing to be created by the community regardless of what Kunos decides to do next.

The Grand Prix Legends mod community is still active 20 years later. A bit long in the tooth for my tastes, although to each his or her own.

I had an older Sister, don't go there... the experience of going to a Boy Scouts meeting in a tutu and pink polka dot leggings seriously slowed down my progression through the ranks.

I was portraying the cloths as the hardware and the body as the software, not the other way around.

You pretty much just proved my point. Sure, there's people out there that may be interested but if they haven't bought it by now most of them aren't likely to, due to circumstances like lacking time, room, organisation, etc. and adding DLC/features to a 4 year old game isn't going to change that. However, a new game with lots of publicity and hype around it may be enough to get them to change their circumstances and give it a go.

But what if the new game has a much higher level of quality out of the gate than the old version has at its apex? I don't recall anyone suggesting AC needs to be abandoned by players if/when a new version comes out. It will always be installed on my system thanks to the sheer amount of mods available, but if/when a new version comes out I'd guess my time with AC1 would quickly dwindle.

But that's the model they've been using for the last few years and according to Steamcharts it isn't exactly doing anything to grow the userbase. DLC probably doesn't generate nearly as much revenue as the avalanche of sales a new title would bring.

Steam needs to allow DLCs to be associated with more than one game. That way all DLCs bought for AC should automatically be installed in AC2/ACnew.

Eh ??? :eek:o_O That is purely up to Kunos, its highly possible that older cars might not even be compatible with the newer game engine. I would imagine new licenses would need to be aquired if cars from AC were to be officially allowable in AC2. Those license agreements aren't forever.

Yeah, i would say that that's pretty much sure that they won't be compatible with a newer game. ;)

I'm also interested about the point of new licensing for a new game. But, hey, maybe they even already licensed them for a potential successor, who knows. A matter of cash, i guess.

Are you really saying f*** those poor guys, if they cannot afford a new PC, I don't want them to be able to play AC anymore??? Wow...

I'm waiting for whats next with greatest interest. But in a healthy way. Meanwhile I think that at least half of AC content is underused, especialy by static mass of multiplayer mode users. And thats not even including mods. Shame we don't have more features, such as wet surfaces... this would literally double the capacity of the content, there would be just double stuff to experience. Online it wouldn't be used anyway, thats for sure. But, oh well, anyway....

So I think that in AC alone we have plenty of material to have fun till anything new comes. Not to mention other fine sims such as rF2 and AMS. Devs doesn't have to tease with previews, news and screenshots every single day, demonstrating every single little change.

Better just launch AC and drive, instead of drool "OMG I want to have what I don't have so much".

I'm really waiting for Laguna Seca, I hope we will have lots of great races there with great variety of cars.

Yeah. And, if it was for me, they could take a long, long time before launching a new project, because i need the funds for a new PC first anyway. And a VR headset. And a new wheel. And new pedals. And so on. :)

I still haven't driven some of the cars (especially some of the Loti (plural form of Lotus ;)) in AC and I still love to drive "old" combinations like the Ferrari 458 at Monza or the Ford Escort RS1600 at Nordschleife. *drool*
I have 930 hrs in AC - I've never played any game this much before. I haven't even played all my other games (together) this much.

Well average PC specs is very importand for sure. But AC can run on relatively really weak hardware. I played half of my AC hours on bellow average specs laptop, and I have had a lot of great online races anyway. So I would expect good optimisation.

I also thought about AC that it was it, the visual level is so great already, there is not so much to move forward. but GT Sport just changed this lol

I thought it was a given when a company launches a new game. That the new game will usually have more base content than the previous one, with high possibilities the content from dlcs will be in the base of the new game. I don't see Kunos/Bros letting go content from dlcs such as Nordschleife, Brands Hatch, RBR, Ferrari, and many other cars only to sell them again on dlc for the new game. So usually the normal practice would be to include the great/most used content from the previous game (no matter if dlc) from the start in the new game. But also add new cars and new tracks.

Marco also said that they're working with BMW on something else instead. Plans change, we had that several times before. And nowhere did they mention that they're stopping development for AC this year to focus on a new game. Read between the lines all you want, no problem with speculating what they're up to, but you can't simply say that it's fact.
