1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Dramatical fps increasing app.

Hello. I hope I don't get a warning for advertisement since I don't have anything to do with the company that provides the service. And if this is an already well known program, please excuse me for my ignorance. So, moving on:
Yesterday I came across this program with promises to dramatically increase your gaming performance. I'm normally skeptical about this stuff but as it came from a serious company I decided to give it a try. And oh boy was I in for a treat.
The program is Razer Cortex, and all it does is close all programs you don't need open while you're gaming. It will add your games to it's library and act automatically when you open them. You can also configure it so it opens on startup and stays minimized so it's pretty much seamless.
Since I play on a low level system, I hardly got good fps when playing, especially against AI, but now AC just goes smooth as silk.
The website is razerzone.com/cortex . Download it, create an account and it's pretty much ready to go.

Please post your results here, as I believe this can be very helpful.
One thing to note is that I don't think the effect will be as good if your problem is GPU. I believe it's greatest effect is on CPU and RAM.

Seeing as I run a nearly full hardcore optimized Win 7 setup with pretty much everything tweaked to be optimal for performance, the increase I'd get from this would be purely placebo.

Very interesting. Since I also could need a little bit more performance, I am willing to try it out. But I dont think I will benefit from it, because mainly my CPU is powerful enough compared to my GPU.

There used to be a program years ago that claimed the same thing, a friend of mine tried it out and for a short while it seemed to work, shutting down services, unneeded processes etc but what it also did was alter your pc's timing cycles effectively runnning everything in a very slight type of fast forward. Very clever, very convincing and with very pleasing frames per second results in games which were normally beyond the systems reach. These were the days when a constant 30fps in first person shooters at max detail were almost unheard of. Then one day, his pc just went pop. Blew up, bang. The motherboard (of which the timings are altered) sacrificed itself to save the components. Not all components were unfortunately saved. A very costly lesson for a few fps for a month or so. This is a true story. Software was called speedpc or something like that. Just be wary of such promises. If your pc could run much faster than you expect, it would be already. You've been warned.

Simple: check thoroughly what the tool claims it's doing. Not convinced or suspicious? Don't use it.

This is actually coming from Razer. As in Razer the mighty mouse gaming company. I think it's more trustworthy than some speedpc software.

Don't be fooled. Even emails from eBay are not always from eBay. What I mean is look closer people before jumping in. If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is. My all means check it out, I have, but my pc has nothing more to give so I dont need to take a wishful chance. If it was that good at doing what it stated, it would be a worldwide gaming breakthrough of which we'd all have already as standard.

Can't you just shut down your background processes manually and see if it makes much of a difference?

It used to be important but with the CPU and memory available now it hardly makes any difference. Not to someone with a decent gaming PC anyway.

Please learn what the word placebo means (and how to measure it). I know that it's very common for people on this forum to use the word but nobody actually seems to know what a placebo actually is and they just bandy it about without understanding (yes, it irritates me).

Let's put it this way. If you installed the suggested software and noticed it made a difference (or no difference, or a positive difference, or a negative difference) this is not placebo. The word placebo is essentially meaningless outside of controlled studies that use (at least) a double blind method.

Its possible that Razer indeed does what it claims, not more, not less. In the FS-community, but for other sim players as well, for years the use of EndItAll 1+2 was almost mandatory, which essentially did the same thing as is claimed here: freeing CPU ressources by shutting down all unneeded processes.

Having rames around 60, I see no personal need to test this. But if one has a weak system and struggles with frames always surfing on a fine line between "okay" and "unplayable", testing it sounds like a valid option. The lower the frames, the more of a difference even just 4 frames make.

Do you know how many there can be on not well-maintained system? :)

And most people do not know anyway what the often cryptic task names mean and whether they represent an essential process or not.

However, best option is anyway to switch off all unneeded services once one has installed Windows from scratch,

Deciding what is a usefull service and wich is not.. not an easy task for the average (not ICT specialist) gamer. Be aware that you can shut down services that can give you performance increase too. Also.. if its a critcal one a crashing OS is also an option. Not to say that you should not do it (in fact do!) But be carefull and aware off the risks. Use common sence and when in doubt...... dont!

I dont like Razer one bit. Theyre all marketing and not as much focus on the rest. Besides, you, the user, are in control of your system. If you need a program to do basic things.... Yeah.

Actually true...if that tool is anywhere close as ****ty as that Razer gamepad I had which would pick random values for left thumb stick after ~5h of use I better not use it.

To clarify. I've been using this for two days now, and while before, as someone described, I was always on the fine line between okay and unplayable, now I have pretty good fps and it has allowed me to play against more AI as well. I believe this program was launched on september, and I will keep looking for reviews to find out if there aren't any problems involved with it. I wouldn't even test this if it didn't come from a well known company like razer, and I don't think this is necessary if you already have a good performance out of your PC as the difference should be negligible, but I think it might be as useful for some people as it is for me, and if any problems come up I'll definitely let you guys know.

Alright @Poguinhas, thanks for sharing that. If it turns out to be stable it might be a very helpful tool for many. I must confess that my PC isn't too well maintained atm and I wouldn't mind some tool that can identify useless background processes and disables them ;-)
