Green Hell Trackday & MultiClassics Server

I was just pointed to a historic Donington mod, didn't try it yet, but if it's good it might be something for Racing Legends:

It is good, trust me ! I haven't downloaded yet, but I had a chance to try it before, it is very good, Being such an old track it is very natural, and Jim produced that very well, can't wait to have an online race there ! 250GTO should fit very well, as well as 250F, and other cars all the way up to late 60s should do very well too, though cars like P4 might turn out a bit extreme, can't wait to see what you guys will come up with this track.

 

Except that I really don't like Donington.

But we'll see.

Apart from this, I'm planning to host some Multiclass events in October and November, info following soon.

 

I think it's a good time to run some MultiClassics events again.
Since it doesn't look like ALOOG6 will return (or at least I haven't heard anything about it), I'd propose to move the races to Sunday evening, hoping that more people have time.
Next on the list would be:
Virginia International Raceway - Full Course: Porsche 917K/Porsche 935 Moby + Porsche 3.0 RSR/Shelby Cobra

It might be an idea to reduce that grid to one car in each class, e.g. Moby Dick + 911 3.0 RSR or 917K + 911 3.0 RSR (don't care which variant, I'm happy with each of the three cars ), since the Cobra actually belongs to the 60s rather than 70s.
But if people like racing 911 vs. Cobra, I'm also happy to keep them. Whichever you guys prefer.
In either case, the expected times for the upper class would be around 1:48, for the lower class around 2:00, so approx. 12s difference.

Rest of the rules would remain the same. But I think I'll ditch the concept of calculating points. There isn't anybody taking it that seriously anyway.

 

Practice server is up.
Qualification will start 2017/10/22 19:30 GMT (21:30 CEST).

So … that's the end of the MultiClassics series. I feel like I've tried everything.

I will cancel both servers, since GHT isn't populated as well and personally I don't want to invest as much time driving (and trying to populate the server) as I used to do half a year ago.
Both servers will run until the 14th November and then not renewed.

 

Fair enough, I have the feeling interest in decent AC multiplayer is declining. Not even the Street Fight servers were populated. A bit sad, now that I have a stable connection again, and could race in MR servers.

 

Sadly it seems that there is not enough of us. Core community members. At least in this forum, which is the main publicity for the server. Servers like AlOOG, This Server, Streetfight servers... are all community core servers, and it is terrible to have them NOT full most of the time, I think it is not necessary to mention how sad is to see them empty. Also quite weird to see KUNOS servers empty too...

For me personally ALOOG-1 was the father and mother of all AC servers, but has died long time ago. Basically it is enough to have 5-10 regulars and a few "half-regulars" and then it is easy to get a full/nearly full server, at least for ABC rating. As regulars stops playing for the reasons, and half-regulars can not fill the voids, the end comes naturally.

I think that core community is too fragmented, and the rest of the AC players just goes random. Of course some does never even use MP.

 

Sad to hear that, I went on the server saturday to practice with the 935 for a couple of laps even though I couldn't make it on sunday. I also joined the Nords server from time to time, very rarely populated on my evenings though.

The community is indeed fragmented. Hell, if I wasn't able to work from home at all and join in your evenings, I wouldn't EVER see populated servers (non GT3). SF is still awesome when populated, but it seems like its getting worse these days.

Thats why I got excited by the idea of a league that could join people from SF and Aloog amongst new people. Some kind of official events where people would actually make time for (although I'm the first one to not make time too though, since you know, family and North America).

Looks like AC is slowly dying, lets hope for the best (AC2 with a god damn builtin ranking system)

 

AC is not dying, steamcharts shows rather high numbers, also my local simracers all love AC and we gather once or twice in a week, a week ago i even couldn't enter because server was full, and it remained full for almost an hour. AC core userbase is dying thats for sure, it is not a new thing it was like that already for at least six months IMO

ALOOG, SF, Multiclass... are servers which are based on core community, which IMO is the forum community. AC is not dying, but forum is.

 

I decided that for the remaining days, MultiClassics in the variation 962C + DTMs (maybe I'll vary the Group C car, will see) will remain up.
15min quali + 2×20min races

Track will change every 2-3 days.

That also means no more "Racing Legends" server.

 

I put up "Le Grand Circuit" for the next 3 days, which IMO is the best version of Le Mans for AC that exists at the moment.
I'll be there for sure it around 9pm CST (8pm UTC).
