Hotlap restart

I was doing some laps today in the practice mode and one thing annoyed me - if you screw up at the beginning of the lap, you still have to do the whole rest of it until you reach the finish line and start a new, clean lap. It's particularly annoying in the slowest cars, that need the most time for that. Yes, I'm that impatient
What would be useful, is the ability to "reset" the car back to the last corner of the track, so that you could immediately start a new lap. Of course, doing that should invalidate the current lap time
In fact, another option comes to mind. Back in MotoGP URT 3, in practice mode, you could "rewind" or "move forward" your bike (or the track, depends on how you look at it ) to a different part of the track if you wanted to train on a particular section of it.
I'm pretty sure some people would find that too "arcady" (there's no "rewind" in real life), but no one would be forcing them to use that function

Now, I know implementing this wouldn't exactly be a piece of cake and I have no idea how a function like this would fit in the engine in its current state, but I'd appreciate if if you at least took a while to think about it
