1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

There are two methods of laser scanning. The iRacing method or a vehicle mounted laser scanner which would be much quicker.

I don't think it's a question of how quick, the issue is likely how expensive it is.

I hope they redo Nürburgring GP, afaik it's one of the oldest, if not the oldest, track (FVA). All the others coming to ACC are fine, imho.

Hasnt it been said time and again that Nurb gp was not re-used from FVA?

I could be mis-remembering here, but I dont believe so.

even if it isn't it's one of the oldest tracks of AC

Why would they rescan the GP track? It didn't change.

And the track being old in AC doesn't matter whatsoever for practically building it again for ACC. They don't just import the existing model into Unreal Editor and leave it at that.

I honestly am not getting the point of having to redo a scan because the current one is old. As I said before, I'm convinced that laserscanning was more than precise enough several years ago, and there was no repaving done to the track that I'm aware of. Perhaps a few bumps changed here and there, but nothing that in my opinion is worth a complete rescan.

I didn't say rescan, I said redo, if the scan has all the details they need then great. And maybe a complete redo isn't necessary either, but imho Nürburgring GP isn't as accurate as the newer tracks. I'm sure there are higher priorities, though...

Reusing the scan to make a new surface model might make sense, but don't know a lot about this stuff to know if it would make any difference.

I could be wrong here but the laserscanning is a really small percentage of time spent creating a track. Most of the work is put into recreating a virtual track from that data. Its not like u scan the track and thats it. Like has been stated above, Kunos allegedly worked 2 years on the Nordschleife. The scanning itself probably only took like 2 weeks.

You are likely very right BUT the cost of the scanning is probably the bigger issue then time spent on doing it. With arranging a scan it’s not only the cost of the scan itself but the logistics of getting accesss to the track when no one is using it as well as associated access and licensing costs as you are using the scan for commercial use

Time is money as the saying goes. The biggest cost is likely the labour over those 2 years. Even if it's just one guy doing the work his wage over the course of two years will likely dwarf every other cost, maybe closing down the Nordschleife would come close, but it likely took several people to do the work so there's potentially hundreds of thousands just in wages to create the track.

There's a reason automation is taking over the work place, even with the initial setup costs being high the savings you make from not hiring people are massive. People are extremely expensive business assets. In an industry like software development those labour costs are unavoidable.

Kunos have said several times that licence costs for tracks are the biggest expense. They make labour, travel and scan equipment costs trivial.

Particularly for the big name tracks we ask for.

Maybe your right and those cost are the biggest, considering they are international tracks and Kunos is a small company. But I think most companies would find when they put the cost of labour and all the other costs of maintaining humans in a company environment. They only had to pay for Nordschleife once, they have to pay the wages every week, if they didn't have human staff they could forgo air conditioning, they wouldn't have to pay as much tax, etc.. The costs go on and on and aren't just restricted to the money that goes into the employees bank account.

I don't know how the licensing works out for this Blancpain game either. I'd assume it's all coming in under one big license so their getting some sort of bulk discount this time around.

It's good to know that every track will be properly laser scanned. It's like "night & day", when switching between flat/floaty non-scanned and laser scanned tracks.

Hi...the difference in surface detail between laser scanned tracks and standard tracks is huge. Some tracks are completely flat . It would be nice to have some artificial bumps added to all standard tracks, because in contrast to laser scanned circuits they feel like stuff two classes lower.Otherwise even most stadard tracks are very well done graphically.

What do you mean? All tracks in Assetto Corsa Competizione (for the subforum you're commenting in) are laserscanned. Almost all tracks in Assetto Corsa are laserscanned also, except Zandvoort, parts of the vintage circuits that don't exist anymore and the fantasy locations.
