The biggest sim race of all time

I assume many of you have heard of the Visa Vegas E race. it will supposedly feature the 10 best sim racers in the world: http://www.fiaformulae.com/en/news/2016/december/from-quarters-to-1m-the-evolution-of-sim-racing/ of particular note is the statement: "rFactor2 has been chosen for the Visa Vegas eRace principally for the quality of its physics engine

 

Yep, looks like the drivers feel at home:

Why do the graphics look like something from the 1990s?

 

Not better than racing on a random public server

 

That looks awful, no wonder they don't take it seriously.

well this is about the history of sim racing. just one article of many. but the Erace platform will be rfactor 2

 

Nothing wrong with that. Plus the content is already there, so why bother?

 

Yeah, that track is appalling.

Looks like an rFactor 1 track that hasn't been converted to take into account the new graphics engine. It's why everything looks fluorescent.

Drivers aren't great either....

Its a crappy mod on rf2 of the worst race series ever though of. Hard to imagine it looking better then that but it would have also been hard to make it worse.

 

Well, this could certainly set the general populace's opinion of simracing back by a few decades
Pretty sure I got eye cancer from watching that video, the rest of you may want to go get checked out just in case.

 

Said "go to 16:00" went to 16:00 watched about 20 seconds; done. Yeah that's why I stopped with rf2...it just looks so awful with some of these mod tracks.

 

That's not sim racing, that's bumper cars! Most those guys should be disqualified for too many collisions... lol

 

You could have endless discussions about which today's sim is best, which I can't be bothered to do.

BUT: that list is so horribly incomplete, it really hurts.
I don't care if you end up with rFactor or rFactor2, but where is Grand Prix Legends? Where is F1C 99-02?

 

Even the pro drivers don't take it seriously.
Not a good job in advertising simracing.
If the aliens make it through T1, they will crush the pros.

 

Could care less about the graphics on show. It's the awful 'racing' that is painful to watch.

I get these guys probably had like no practice beforehand, which was already a huge mistake, but even then, I can see the drivers just being stupidly aggressive and not really caring too much about the consequences.

Horrible public demonstration. Like, there just wasn't entertainment value there for anybody, even aside from those who wanted to see a good race.
