The Challenge.
Car: BMW 1M
Track: Red Bull Ring National




After the bathtub of death last week I think a nice road car with big fat tires, ABS, and TC will do nicely. The BMW 1M is wider, lighter, more powerful version of the normal BMW 1 series. It is powered by a twin turbo charged straight six engine that produces 340bhp to the rear wheels through a six speed manual gear box. Only 2,700 of these were produced, so the chances of seeing one in the real world aren't very high. There is not much to change in the setup for this car, so adapting to it's characteristics will be key.



We will take in the National layout, which uses the start and end of the GP track. Once you get the hang of the track I think people will start hunting for very small amounts of time as the challenge goes on.

Time of day: Free
Ambient Temp: 26 Degrees
Setup: Free
Controller: Free
Assists: Factory
Stability:Free
Penalties: On <--- Only applicable to Practice mode.

If it isn't mentioned here then assume the setting is free.

Please make sure you have the ambient temperature set correctly, I really don't like disallowing times!

The Deadline.
Sunday May 7th - 22:00 BST (GMT+1)

How to take part!
To enter simply head into the game select Drive > Hotlap / Practice choose the BMW 1M and head to Red Bull Ring National. Make sure you setup the session using the settings detailed in this thread and hit the track!

You can run as many laps as you like and update your times as often as you like, its simple All Platforms are welcome, it is all about having fun and enjoying Assetto Corsa.

To submit a time, pause the game and select 'session' from the menu and screenshot this page or take a photo of your screen and post it in this thread - Note all the information from the screen is required including temperature.


Feel free to post video clips and share information in here as well, but without the session screen your time will not be included (placing the session screen in a video clip is acceptable).

You also need to state the time and your platform in the body of your post, this should be the first thing you do, the image should then be placed below the text. It would also be helpful to mark updated times with Improvement. This makes collating the results much easier.

I see you @flyingcarrot. I'll try to improve, but I'm gonna have to get some runtime in this car. I'm guessing tire pressure is key, because this configuration is mostly right turns and the right side tires stay cold, which matters a lot on the sole left hander.

I’m not a big fan of stock road cars (aside from a few classics), I just don’t really see the point when the game is full of beautiful race machines. But that said it’s still always good fun to have a crack at beating other peoples times. This is as good as I can do for now, I’ll probably have another go later today, I feel like I could break into the 59’s if I really put my mind to it.
