The Challenge.
Car: Maserati MC12 GT1
Track: Imola





The MC12 GT1 long, low and wide, two of which got it into trouble with the rule makers! The It's a proper racing car this one, no ABS here although you do get a multi level traction control system. the car is really on the nose in default settings. V12 power means it screams like a banshee when you have the throttle pinned to the floor!



Imola, a fantastic old school circuit, the MC12 Gt1 made its compatition debut here in 2004, although it wasn't allowed to score points. the track also featured in the 2005 season... The car set a qualifying time of 1:46.975 in 2004, and a 1:46.227 in 2005.

Time of day: Free
Ambient Temp: 26 Degrees
Setup: Free
Controller: Free
Assists: Factory
Stability: Free

If it isn't mentioned here then assume the setting is free.

Please make sure you have the ambient temperature set correctly, and that you are in hotlap mode, I really don't like disallowing times!

Sunday September 24th - 22:00 BST (GMT+1)

How to take part!
To enter simply head into the game select Drive > Hotlap and choose the Maserati MC12 GT1 and head to Imola. Make sure you setup the session using the settings detailed in this thread and hit the track!

You can run as many laps as you like and update your times as often as you like, its simple All Platforms are welcome, it is all about having fun and enjoying Assetto Corsa.

To submit a time, pause the game and select 'session' from the menu and screenshot this page or take a photo of your screen and post it in this thread - Note all the information from the screen is required including temperature, mode heading and of course the car being used!

Feel free to post video clips and share information in here as well, but without the session screen your time will not be included (placing the session screen in a video clip is acceptable).

You also need to state the time and your platform in the body of your post, this should be the first thing you do, the image should then be placed below the text. It would also be helpful to mark updated times with Improvement. This makes collating the results much easier.

A leader board will be collated on a daily basis to keep everyone up to date on where they currently stand...Unfortunately editing of posts gets locked on this forum so this post will not be updated.

Feel free to use the unofficial leader board but remember you still need to include the session screen in this thread to be included in the results.

Oh yes what a great combo....love the Maserati MC12 and that thing on Imola will be a lot of fun...thanks GT...perfect combo!!!

 

I'm not a fan of GT cars but since it's not worst of them all (GT3) and I haven't driven it at all, I gave it a go.

Cool sound, really nice FFB and it can even slide a little, but it's still just a GT car.

 

Haven't done one of these Weekly Hotlaps in quite a while... I'm on the PC version now instead of the PS4, still using s PS4 controller though Works fine as long as I keep stability control on (gets rid of the twitchy steering)

I love these GT1 cars, although i'd have to say this one's my least favorite of the handful in the game. I like Imola too but i'm not very good here, i'll have to wait for other people to post some videos or tips and then have another crack at it.

The very best tips I can give you is avoid side to side weight transfer. Brake hard on the straight, as you turn in, release the brake like at a stop light on the street in a coordinate way as you turn in with the steering at the corner till the apex(can be difficult if you have high experience to get rear ended in real life). Right on the apex, you throttle while maintain your traction to exit.

If you do slow in, fast out(example: throttling before the apex hoping to rotate), your delta time goes to the negative.

On uphill don't brake too deep & understeer with the steering at worst or lift off, wait till you meet the apex to accelerate.
On downhill corner, you have to accelerate a bit after the apex.

For the first chicane you have to enter at a slight angle & avoid coming completely straight. To put your line priority for the exit.

Kind of look like a pile of joke to read, but it's a tips alright.

 

I think I understood that advice... Either way I went back and managed to improve by just over half a second. I feel like I can get into the 1:45's if I really try, but it's late now and also I have the flu (Playing on a laptop while lying in bed) so i'll have another go tomorrow.
Also I take back what I said, this car is pretty amazing and starting to become one of my favorites in the whole game.

Two lap clip, some gear change issues going on as the fool behind the wheel pulled rather than pushed!

Glad I found the sequential plate for my shifter though, it feels odd blipping the throttle and pulling paddles!

think i need a second shifter

 

There is no autoblip on this transmission at least on PS4, without a blip (I am using the clutch as well) it is possible to lock up the wheels whilst downshifting I kinda like it like this

I don't use the sequential stick that often, but for this car it was worh the minimal effort to switch over, it's only 4 screws after all...

 

Hmmm? I'm tempted to give my sequential shifter plate a try now (rubs chin.......)

Wasn’t gonna bother with the dlc with pc2 coming soon but just couldn’t resist
First few laps were around 1:49’s so probably be a struggle to improve much more.

Really like this combo though, feels great.
