The Devil Wears Praga (still the best title for a WHC I think) it featured the Parga R1 at Mugello, 9 players posted a time, with a fool called Graveltrap taking the win... Anyway enough looking back, time to move forwards...

The Challenge.
Car: McLaren 570S
Track: Barcelona - Moto





My bad another DLC car!!

This is the first time we feature a McLaren in the WHC The 570s is a rather good, power delivery is much nicer than the MP4-12C, the turbo V8 feels so much smoother. It has great rear traction which can lead to some understeer, but the balance when you do get the rear moving is super!

Semi slicks will be the order of the day, on the electronics front you get a adjustable traction control system, to help put that 562 bhp to the pavement



We head to Barcelona - Moto, which I think has become my favourite variation of the track, the end of the lap just flows so much better, (oh for a classic version with the chicane on the back straight). Very technical mid section combined with some long fast corners make for a great challenge

The Rules.
Mode: Hotlap
Time of day: Free
Ambient Temp: 26 Degrees
Setup: Free
Controller: Free
Assists: Factory
Stability: Free

If it isn't mentioned here then assume the setting is free.

Please make sure you have the ambient temperature set correctly, and that you are in hotlap mode, I really don't like disallowing times!

The Deadline.
Sunday October 8th - 22:00 BST (GMT+1)

How to take part!
To enter simply head into the game select Drive > Hotlap and choose the McLaren 570S and head to Barcelona - Moto. Make sure you setup the session using the settings detailed in this thread and hit the track!

You can run as many laps as you like and update your times as often as you like, its simple All Platforms are welcome, it is all about having fun and enjoying Assetto Corsa.

To submit a time, pause the game and select 'session' from the menu and screenshot this page or take a photo of your screen and post it in this thread - Note all the information from the screen is required including temperature, mode heading and of course the car being used!

Feel free to post video clips and share information in here as well, but without the session screen your time will not be included (placing the session screen in a video clip is acceptable).

You also need to state the time and your platform in the body of your post, this should be the first thing you do, the image should then be placed below the text. It would also be helpful to mark updated times with Improvement. This makes collating the results much easier.

A leader board will be collated from time to time, this will keep everyone up to date on where they currently stand...Unfortunately editing of posts gets locked on this forum so this post will not be updated.

Feel free to use the unofficial leader board but remember you still need to include the session screen in this thread to be included in the results.

can not see much improvement atm - <1s - barcelona is not easy for me. i struggle with apex and some corners. much to improve.
so i dunno if the better time was setup or "better" driving.

Disgusted that I missed last weeks challenge, that 911 is pretty beautiful, and I need to learn to tame it!!
Hopefully get some laps on this one..

Has anyone thought of hosting this in a lobby together too? Obviously on respective platforms.

 

I think this one is more down to the individuals driving rather than setup, saying that, I have only driven default settings, so have no idea of the range of adjustment, usual form is to set front camber to max on a road car...Tyre pressure will be the most important thing to get right, unfortunately I don't have any tyre information for this car to pass on...

How do I do this? For the most part if I enjoy a car and track, others will too, it is that simple I doesn't take up anywhere near as much of my time as it used to either, although it would be nice to see numbers in the twenties...

I have offered to set up a room on PS4 before, it has always been met with a muted response and very little interested, actually there seems to be very little interest from PS4 forum members getting together and doing a spot of online racing in general, which seems a little odd! But that is really something for another thread.

Congratz WHC and thanks for hosting this weekly event. Glad to be part of this community

 

This is only a guess, but you probably do have more than twenty people a week trying the challenge, but just not posting it. For myself, I play every week but I don't post a time because I do not follow one of the WHC posted rules, namely, the hot lap mode. I use practice mode for the WHC. I just became so frustrated with the ghost car. I understand the reason for the rule, and that's cool. If you want to play and post a time, then follow the rules. As a general rule, I'm usually in the bottom one third of the group, but I race with no assists of any kind and I just try to improve on my time. I enjoy the WHC every week (by not using the ghost car). I think you do a great job and it introduces to me, car and track combos that I probably wouldn't have used. As for the community, I get lots of info for car setups and driving info from the videos to help me improve. I suspect you have a certain number of silent drivers out there just like me.

 

Very happy birthday WHC, I take part most weeks and only usually post when I’m within spitting distance to last place. Same as above with loving the combos which I wouldn’t choose on my own and happy to be part of the friendly atmosphere and helpful advice given by some fellow whc’s. I know there are a lot of lurkers out there, and I am sure they all have good reasons for not actually posting in the thread, we are a reasonably friendly bunch here, no need to worry

Hotlap mode is mainly for track limits, but a car we will visit has a push 2 pass function which is active in practice but not in hotlap

My personal view on ghosts is if I can see the thing then I am not going fast enough to set a new PB anyway! They do help understand a track, and see where time can be gained or is being lost! It would be super if they could be toggled on console...Maybe it's time for a thread in the suggestions area!

This car runs a lot of front toe in for default setup, could be worth trying to reduce it... Spotted that after I had packed it in for the night.
