1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Wet Setups

When Sebastian Vettel comes up he says that rain setups no longer exist. Why is that? Does it apply only to F1 or other categories as well?

Since the early 2000s F1 has had parc ferme lockdown after qualifying. You can't change stuff, unless your cars broken.

If you were convinced it was going to rain for qualy AND the race you could go with a dedicated setup. That's very unlikely though so for some years now setup changes for changeable weather have been minimal. It's part of the reason why the cars are difficult to keep on the track in heavy rain

I do realize that, even if they knew Qualifying was on heavy rain they could set up for a dry track since the race would be on dry weather. But the way I understood it's like setups are the same for wet or dry conditions.

Wet setups are still very much a thing everywhere. He is likely refering to the fact that no one is "gambling on a wet race" on a saturday anymore.

Last year Mercedes used a red flag in the race to make "wet" changes on the car since then it was clear the race would be wet until the end. The day before it's just too hard to predict.

    https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/red-flag-set-up-change-key-to-mercedes-1-2-says-lowe-850476/

“The car was set up for the dry,” Lowe told Motorsport.com. “You have to set the car up for the dry, because unless you can entirely predict a full wet race, which would be a real gamble, the car is basically always configured for the dry, which is likely to emerge at some point in a race."

As Vettel says in the OP vid they don't change that much though, probably a few wing cranks, they can't really change parts. They hardly have any wet running outside race weekends now so major setup changes with ride height and springs would be a massive shot in the dark. The days of Schumi bolting on the full wets pounding round Maranello for hours with the sprinklers active are long gone. Extreme wet setups have always been a massive gamble as you can easilly end up seconds off the pace if the track dries and you're carrying too much wing.

Engine power delivery changes are easy with maps these days.

They should ban those engine maps. Traction control via the back door.

As I understand it the spec ecu has to deliver power to the rear wheels from the drivers gas pedal in a linear manner, the "traction control" they may use isn't controlled by engine maps as that's banned. In other words if the driver sets 100% throttle the ECU can't reduce it to 50% to stop the wheels spinning. That'd be "closed loop" traction control which isn't allowed.

What's possible, and essential, is modulating the power delivery from the electric MGU K system to the wheels. That's classed as "open loop" as it's automatic and not dependent on the drivers throttle setting. It's essential as the combination of ICE and MGU would be undriveable without it. It seems to be a massive grey area but the potential performance gains, especially at fast bumpy tracks like Silverstone are immense.

For this reason current F1 cars aren't allowed to deliver power from the pre charged MGU K system below iirc 120kph at the start. They also aren't allowed to engage the MGU K to leave the pits, for supposed safety reasons, the system only becomes active at the exit from the pits. After the start and outside the pits you can mix ICE and MGU as you like. It's interesting that on the track they can restart a stalled ICE using the MGU system as we've seen a few times lately.

That's about my level of understanding anyway
