1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

HOW TO ASSOCIATE YOUR STEAM ACCOUNT

the process is very simple. Basically it's a 3-steps process.

Your forum user has its own password in order to log on this forum. Remember it.

Go on the external accounts page and click "Associate with Steam". You will be automatically redirect to the official Steam website. Here you need to log in with your Steam credentials (that you use with Steam client too). Done that, you will be automatically redirect on our forum again. Last step: it will ask for your FORUM PASSWORD. Put it into the text field and the process is done.

******************************************************************

In order to avoid any confusion about forum use, here is a short list of rules. Just remember: this is a support forum, not a community, so it's heavily moderated. We aim to offer you the best support we can.

1. PC section of the forum is reserved to AC/ACC licensed users only
Being a support forum, a legit Assetto Corsa ora Assetto Corsa Competizione valid Steam purchase is required to join. During the registration process, please associate your Steam account containing the legit AC/ACC license, otherwise your account will be instantly and automatically disabled. In case AC or ACC license are missing, the account will be banned. The ban can be lifted by contacting support@assettocorsa.net after purchasing a legit AC/ACC license on Steam platform.

2. English is the official forum language
We're very proud to welcome members from all over the world, but we ask that people post messages in English, so other users and developers can help faster and better.

3. Advertising - buy/sell discussions
No commercial advertising is permitted anywhere on the forum (always PM a staff member first if you have doubts).
Infractions will be punished with a warning or a ban and the related discussion instantly removed. Linking to websites that require user registration is strongly discouraged.

4. Derailing a discussion
Don't join a disussion if you don't like it or doesn't interest you. Derailing a thread or posting off-topic contents will result in a warning or a ban.

5. Flaming, trolling, harrassing, flamebaiting, disinformation, false news
This is strictly forbidden. Users that exhibit an inappropriate behavior (stalking, harassing, intentions to provoke emotional responses and so on) will be warned and, in case of recurrence, banned. This also applies to discussions about false news and disinformation.

6. Personal insults and attacks
Any content judged by moderators as a slur (racial, ethnic, religious and so on), will be subject to infraction. The related user will be instantly banned, without any warning.

7. Attacking or calling out Staff
As well known by our fellow users, Kunos Simulazioni welcomes constructive criticism and complaints. Sadly, the line that divides the "constructive" from the "destructive" is very thin. So, please, keep the discussion polite and clean. There's no room for the "casual whiner" here. Feel free to ask moderators about specific actions or general questions.

8. Copyright violation
Extracting, decrypting and/or converting cars, tracks, objects and any other copyrighted content from Assetto Corsa and/or any other software, even talking about that, without the permission of the author is strictly prohibited and subject to infraction. The rule is also applied to a mod made from scratch but related to another mod that breaks this rule (e.g. a sound mod made for an illegally converted car).

9. Warns, bans, general moderation
Moderators can ban users for indefinite time, even without warning, at its own discretion and of course related to the infraction committed. The last word always belong to moderators. Duplicated accounts will be considered "ban evasion", in this case the moderators will extend the original ban.

10. Payware content
Only free content is allowed in the modding subforums. Creators can ask for a donation, but "mandatory donations / pay per use" are strictly prohibited on the official forum and its subforums. Threads that don't respect the rule above will be deleted and the author subject to infraction.

Registering to our support forum, you accept the above rules.

- As said, associate your STEAM profile through this link and keep it associated
- Make a signature with your PC specs and ACC settings
- ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory.

**************************************************************************

Please read carefully this post and act accordingly for bug reporting
When you start a thread at the title there's a pull down menu with some possible prefixes, here's how to use them:

[SUGGESTION] short description
Use the above prefix for your suggestions. You can use it ONLY in the "General Support - Feedbacks - Suggestions" forum. Don't discuss about suggestions in other subforums.

[CRITICAL] short description
Use the above title ONLY when you have a critical problem. A showstopper. That means that without solving this you can't play Assetto Corsa. That includes crashes that don't let you play, a controls configuration problems, inability to install, UI doesn't work etc etc... Put in the description as much information as possible in order to reproduce the problem. Screenshots and short videos always well accepted. When you choose to upload a crash report and log files from inside the UI, it automatically saves a bug ID number in your memory. Post in the forums and simply do a paste in your post so we can connect it to the bug you've send us. Makes our lives easier.

[BUG] short description
Use the above title when you notice whatever problem you think it's not a feature (lol). Graphical problems, flickering, stuttering, errors on UI navigation, ecc ecc. Anything that permits you to play but still annoys you. Put in the description as much information as possible in order to reproduce the problem. Screenshots and short videos always well accepted. Keep in hand your log files we might ask you to post them after we have checked the problem.

[ISSUE] short description
Use the above title when you have something to notify, relative to ACC. Something you're not sure how it works, or if it works as intended. The discussion might grow up and you never know what might happen.

[WORKAROUND] short description
If you know how to bypass an issue until devs fix it, use this prefix and explain how to solve using a workaround.

Important Notes:
  • We will modify your thread title prefix in [FIXED], [WORKING ON IT], [AS DESIGNED] or whatever we decide to do with the information you gave us and we will post in the thread.
  • Always check to see if someone else has posted the same issue. If so, please add your description on his thread. Moderators will merge threads if needed.
  • Keep calm and drive on. If a dev is not replying on your thread then it means that a) is busy with another bug, b) your bug has not a priority, c) decided to ignore it for the time being d) has forgotten, contact the admin via PM if needed, but don't make multiples "UP" on your thread as it will make a mess to the order of the forum.
Do not use a prefix for everything else.
Most importantly, keep it simple :)
Thank you

Assetto Corsa Competizione: general troubleshooting

Q: Assetto Corsa Competizione crashes on startup
A: Please make sure your %userprofile%\Documents\Assetto Corsa Competizione folder and ALL subfolders and files included inside them are set to visible (not hidden). Make sure please you set hidden folders to be visible in the explorer to be able to verify. Also make sure that any anti-virus or other security software you have installed is not blocking the game's executable from writing in %userprofile%\Documents

Q: Can't find the executable (exe file) to run the game
A: It may happen that some antivirus/firewall software recognize executables as false positive. If your game executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, then run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether.

Q: Can't assign controls / My controls don't work as expected
A: Delete the controls.json file located in your Windows Documents\Assetto Corsa Competizione\config folder, then reassign controls from scratch.

Q: Track-IR left/right works the opposite way
A: Just invert the "yaw" axis in your Track-IR profile.

Q: Sudden poor performance after an update
A: Sometimes there are old configuration files that need to be reset. The safest way to do this is by renaming the %LOCALAPPDATA%\AC2 folder. Usually, this folder is hidden, to browse it:
  1. Open File Explorer/Windows Explorer;
  2. Type %LOCALAPPDATA% into the address bar and hit enter;
  3. Rename the AC2 folder
Q: My graphics settings appear to be blurry/wrong/not how it looks on screenshots by other users
A: Please provide a screenshot in the support forum so we can judge the situation, furthermore please specify your PC configuration and ACC settings in your forum signature.

Q: The virtual mirror is invisible even when turned on
A: The virtual mirror hides automatically when the player car is the only car on track, regardless of its visibility setting.

Q: Some car models are not available in certain game modes
A: When playing one of the official game modes, Assetto Corsa Competizione allows the player to choose cars according to the official entry lists of the Blancpain GT Series, as a result of which some entries might be available in one game mode (Endurance) but unavailable in another (Sprint). In custom racing modes, however, such as quick race and custom race weekend, the player is free to choose from and play against any car available in the game.

Q: The number of opponents is sometimes lower than the selection made in the UI
A: The available number of opponents can be set according to the selected track's capacity. However, in official game modes, the opponent field is constrained by the entries available in the official series. As a result, when playing an official Sprint Race weekend, the total number of opponents is likely to be somewhat lower than what the track capacity allows.

Q: How to set up triple monitor rendering in Assetto Corsa Competizione?
A: Follow steps 1 to 9 to quickly set up triple monitor rendering:
1) Set up NVIDIA Surround in your GPU driver panel (both native 1:1 resolution and bezel corrected resolution will work correctly)
2) start Assetto Corsa Competizione
3) open VIDEO options
4) choose the correct surround resolution (either native or bezel corrected to your taste)
5) ENABLE triple screen rendering
6) start a session and go to the track
7) hit ESC and enter the VIEW SETTINGS menu
8) adjust all relevant settings here to neutralize any perspective distortion and adjust bezel correction (only do this if you use native resolution)
9) enjoy!

Q: What is the difference between choosing to run native resolution NVIDIA surround (without bezel correction) and bezel corrected resolution?
A: The following:

Native resolution:
- you have to use bezel correction settings in VIEW SETTINGS in a session to correctly dial out any bezels
- some ingame elements will not be bezel corrected currently (for example the showroom, UI backgrounds, etc), as VIEW SETTINGS bezel correction only influences the in-game session, not the UI
- depending on your system setup you may or may not be able to run ACC this way in borderless mode and be able to more quickly ALT-TAB to other applications
- all in-session cameras work properly bezel corrected

Bezel corrected resolution:
- all in-game elements will be properly bezel corrected (including UI and showroom)
- bezel correction will not work correctly in certain cameras, such as the free camera (F7)

kernelbase.dll error on Windows 10

Solution from user Trystan34:

I somehow managed to fix the game. It finally launches!

I don't know which of the following actually events fixed it though. I think it may be the new account creation though.

I researched into "KERNELBASE.dll" error and found that users were experiencing issues due to account names or something.

The events that took place after researching:

  • Changed "Computer Name" (By default Windows 10 installed without asking me what I wanted the computers name to be)
  • I created a new User Account and made it an Administrative account and then restarted pc
  • Logged into the new account and installed Steam. (It started deleting cache files from the Steam install on my external HDD, I then installed Steam on C Drive)
  • Logged into Steam went to Assetto Corsa -> opened directory and and made AssettoCorsa.exe "Run as administrator" and then... IT LAUNCHED!
I then logged back into main Windows account and tried to run the game and it worked too. I then deleted the second Windows account and restarted pc. Once logged back in, tried running it once more and it worked again.

My progress and AC settings were deleted after update!

You can find automatic backups of the laptime database, livery selections and favourites in userdocs\Assetto Corsa\launcherdata\backups - if they were created they will be in directories with a "<DATE>-<TIME>" format, copy the contents of one of those dirs back in to the "userdocs\Assetto Corsa\launcherdata" directory.

We do not reset the documents folder automatically unless a major version change has occurred and then a version mismatch message will appear when you launch the game stating exactly what will occur and allowing you to not go through with the process giving you the chance to make a backup. That said, there was no major version change with this update.

What controls the version update is in launcher.ini:
[WINDOW]
VERSION=XX
The launcher.ini that is in the installation directory cfg folder has to match the version of the one in the userdocs folder - if that is not the case, you will get the version mismatch error.

Can I play with a DirectX10 graphics card?

As reported in the "minimum requirements" on the Steam page, in the FAQ and on the official website, Assetto Corsa doesn't support DirectX 10.0 cards and will never do, due to technical factors.

Users with DIRECTX 10.0 video cards will not receive any support.

User Interface too large!

If you cannot scroll down to the options button to go to "Options>General" and then check "Ignore Windows' display-scaling settings" (you need to restart the launcher for it to take effect), you can edit your "launcher.ini" found in "<UserDocuments>\Assetto Corsa\cfg" and add IGNOREDPI=1 under the [WINDOW] section.

My wheel is not centered or my pedals aren't registering their full amount of travel

Please try recalibrating your wheel using Window's calibration panel:
  • Go to control panel/devices and printers;
  • Right click on the device's icon and select "game controller settings";
  • In the window that appears click on the "properties" button (you might need to hold CTRL+SHIFT when you click on "properties" to get all the options in the following window) go to "settings" and then "calibrate..." .
This can happen when the driver keeps calibration data cached.
For Logitech users, Logitech provides a "Clear Calibration Utility" available here:

What are the differences between tyres compounds?

Road legal tyres
Street and semislicks are road legal compounds, used on the road. They wear out slightly. Their main problem is overheating, but after you have overheat them you can wait and start again, they can give similar grip even after lots of km's. In the end they will wear and lose grip totally.
Street tyres optimum temp: 75°C - 85°C but "easy" under and over those temps. Very easy to overheat after some laps on a circuit, especially on fast corners.
Semislicks: 75°C - 100°C but a bit less grip under that and overheat quite faster over that. They have more grip of course and can resist more fast laps, but do not like much abuse and drifting. They wear gradually and lose grip km after km.

GT2 slicks: The main difference of the GT2 cars is that manufacturers are actively developing tyres during the season and bring different compounds on the various tracks. We can't of course simulate specific compounds for specific tracks, but we offer 5 different compounds
SuperSoft: 90-105°C Don't like to be driven under or over that range. They wear out very fast
Soft : 90-105°C as Supersofts. they wear out fast
Medium: 85°C-105°C as supersofts over their range. They wear out in a linear gradual way
Hard: 80-100°C a tiny bit easier than supersoft outside their range but nothing too radical. They wear just a tiny bit after the initial laps and then stay quite stable for a long time until they start to lose lot's of grip
SuperHard: 80-100°C as Hards. They wear a tiny bit and stay stable for lot's of laps until they let go.

GT3 slicks. The biggest difference between GT2 and GT3 cars are their tyres. GT3 tyres are fixed for the whole season and the organization decides what tyres the car have to use. We provide 3 compounds that are not equivalent to their GT2 counterparts (worse).
Softs: 80-110°C . Wear VERY fast. We've been told that they were actually used only for a couple of times in qualifying.
Mediums: 75-105°C Wear linearly and predictably. all around tyre
Hard: 70-100°C Wear a tiny bit after a couple of laps and stay stable for a long sting. Not great grip but they are predictable and can be used in a wide variety of tracks and temperatures. Often "forced" by regulations on cars.

The hypercars slicks (Zonda R and 599XX) are a bit worse parents of the GT3 tyres. Let's say a generation behind. Rest of their characteristics is very similar to the GT3 tyres.

Vintage F1 67 Tyres
We provide just one compound for such tyres, although we learned there were actually different compounds. As a matter of fact, there is documentation reporting that Jim Clark choose the tyre that permit him to slide more for the race at Monza. Unfortunately there is not enough documentation for the compounds so for now we stick with just one compound. If anybody has more info regarding the matter, I'd be happy to discuss with it.
optimum range 50-90°C The tyres are good at low temps, and can withstand overheating pretty well. The tyre wear is gradual, you can expect to do a full race without problems, except if you overdrive and overheat them too much.

The tyre ranges are not perfect ranges but a min max range that you might not be able to understand a difference in tyre grip. Temperatures are also vary quite widely from straight to inside a turn, so optimally you need a tyre that stays at the lower end of the optimum temperature just before the braking zone and at the higher end of the optimum temperature at the exit of the turn. Not so easy to obtain.
In AC going outside the optimum range, doesn't mean the car will become undriveable. This characteristic is a double sword. You might think the car is good, but you're not driving on the optimum grip, so you'll lose time without understanding it. There's depth to be found and explored within the AC tyre model.

Another hint for tyre temperatures, as in real life, use more camber to heat faster a part of the tyre tread and then this dissipate to the rest of the tyre. More camber, more heat, less camber, less heat.

I like to drive from hood/bonnet cam, but I'd like to hear interior sound. Is it possible?

At the moment, you can use a workaround.

When you are in the cockpit:

- open console (key "Home")
- write "set driverEye.z n" (without quotes, where n is a numeric value, i.e. 1. Pay attention, case sensitive!)
- press Enter

The point of view will move forward (if you put a positive number). Combine it with "set driverEye.x n" and "set driverEye.y n" to set the point of view according to your tastes.

The game doesn't start at all when launched

  • Make sure the pre-requisite libraries have installed properly, you can find them by right-clicking on Assetto Corsa in Steam then "Local Files" -> "Browse Local Files...". Navigate to the "_commonredist" folder and run the setup for all the included redistributables. Pay attention to any error messages you might get and make sure no antivirus or such software blocks their installation. These are normally installed automatically on first run, but occassionally they will output errors which are not reported to you by Steam;
  • Use Steam's cache integrity check. Open your Steam games library, right click on Assetto Corsa and select "Properties". Click "local files" and then "verify integrity of Game cache";
  • Check your installed Windows updates. If you have the KB2670838 update, please uninstall it and try if the game starts properly.

I get a crash while playing and a system reboot, don't know what causes it!

You're likely getting a blue screen and have windows set to auto-reboot on such (you can disable that to see the stop error by pressing Win-Break, go to "Advanced"->"Startup and Recovery Settings" and under "system failure" uncheck "Automatically restart").

Regardless if you disable autorestart or not, to see which driver component is causing it, you can get bluescreenview:
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

It'll go through the minidumps windows have recorded and it'll report the component at fault.

.NET 4.0 not installing and returns a 0xc8000222 error if invoked manually

You can find the installable by right-clicking on Assetto Corsa in Steam then "Local Files" -> "Browse Local Files..." and navigating to the _CommonRedist\DotNet\4.0 folder

Before installing .NET Framework 4.0 by running dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe:
  1. Press your Win key and type cmd, then right click on the result and select "run as administrator"
  2. Once in the command prompt type in command "net stop WuAuServ" to disable windows update
  3. Then press Win+R and type in "%windir%" at the pop-up window, it will take you to your windows installation folder
  4. Find the folder "SoftwareDistribution" and rename it to "SoftwareDistribution.old"
  5. Then, go back your previous command prompt and run the command "net start WuAuServ" to restart windows update
  6. Finally try again to install .NET Framework

My wheel shakes on straights

Usually this issue is related to a too high Force Feedback gain parameters.
Assuming that your Windows profiler settings are at default, you can try the following methods:
  • Go in Options menu, then "Controls -> Advanced" page;
  • Lower the "gain" value;
  • Lower the FFB enhanced effects, especially the "road" one.

Sound through my surround/5.1 speakers setup is "muffled" and the engine sound is low

Please be sure that you have selected the right playback device in windows and the proper audio device driver in the "Audio" app in game.
#12

Grey screen after introduction

  • Press F11. This will make the game's launcher exit full screen;
  • In some configurations it has been reported that setting "AssettoCorsa.exe" to run as administrator worked to by-pass this issue.
#4

Engine volume is too loud when playing in chase cam

This is related to 5.1/surround speakers setup. At the moment, volumes are balanced for 2.1/stereo speakers setup.

If you want, you can manually edit the file related to exterior audio.

- browse Assetto Corsa game folder -> content -> cars -> carmodel -> sfx
- open engine.ini (make a backup before editing)
- find this line: MIX_VOLUME=x.xx (where x is a numeric value)
- edit the value. The higher the number, the louder the exterior engine volume. Don't exceed too much or it will distort.
