1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Generic Weekly Hotlap Challenge #116 – Black and Gold

Discussion in 'Console Lounge' started by Totall Wrytoff, Feb 17, 2019.

  1. Welcome to the thread for the Weekly Hotlap Challenge #116 – Black and Gold, Round Three of the Weekly Hotlap Championship League and Round Three of the mini-series, Formula 1 in February.

    The Challenge:
    Hotlap
    Car: Lotus 72D
    Track: Laguna Seca
    upload_2019-2-17_21-53-58.png
    upload_2019-2-17_21-54-8.png
This week we are in the Lotus 72D, an innovative design by Colin Chapman and powered by the 3 litre, V8 Ford-Coswoth DFV, producing around 440hp at 9000rpm. Chapman's efforts produced one of the most remarkable and successful designs in F1 history. Taking the stressed engine from the Lotus 49 and adding advanced aerodynamics produced a car that was years ahead of its rivals.
The DFV was a widely used engine amongst F1 teams and to give you some idea of its dominance, in 1969 and 1973 every World Championship race was won by DFV-powered cars, with the engine taking a total of 155 wins from 262 races between 1967 and 1985.
The Lotus 72 was introduced for the 197o season and Jochen Rindt won the championship that year, despite his fatal crash in quali at Monza. He was driving a version without wings.
The 72D with the JPS livery and the car we race is from the 1972 season. Driven by Emmerson Fittipaldi and David Walker, the 72D trounced the competition that year and Fittipaldi became the youngest World Champion. The wonder kid from Brazil had won the most prestigious title in motorsport before he’d reached his 26th birthday.
Colin Chapman’s deft engineering touch meant the 72D could get through a race, but not much further than that – he’d been quoted as saying “Any car which holds together for a whole race is too heavy.”
The combination of a delicate, fast, clever driver and a car that was designed and built to only just last a race distance was perfect in 1972. Lotus showed the way to make sure the best car/driver combo won over the season was not necessarily to be the quickest over a single lap, but it was to be the one which raced most intelligently.
    upload_2019-2-17_21-56-47.png
Here’s a lovely thought from Damian Cross at Influx: In some ways it’s a surprise that lightweight-leaning Chapman allowed such indulgent facial hair on his lead driver… one can’t help but imagine a brief calculation of potential mass of sideburns ran through Chapman’s head at some point.
    upload_2019-2-17_21-57-32.png
According to Colin Chapman’s son Clive, “the 72 in JPS livery is one of the most aesthetically pleasing vehicles ever to be created.”

Here are the recommended tyre pressures:
    Soft gp70 fronts = 27psi rears = 28psi
    Hard gp70 fronts = 27psi rears = 28psi

How to take part - Hot lap:

A leader board is collated regularly. Unfortunately editing of posts gets locked on this forum so this post cannot be updated.

From now on: Weekly Hotlap Challenge Championship League
    How it works:
    1. Enter the Weekly Hotlap Challenge as posted every Sunday evening and you will be automatically entered into the league table.
    2. Your ranking in the final standings, posted on Sunday evening, will earn you points, as follows:
    Place Points: 1st 14 2nd 13 3rd 12 4th 11 5th 10 6th 9 7th 8 8th 7 9th 6 10th 5
    3. Every player taking part in a WHC, but finishing outside the top 10 will get 4 points.
    4. Every player who is in the table, (ie has entered a previous WHC) but does not play that week will get three points each week.
    5. Players that join WHC after next week's WHC#114 will be awarded 3 points retrospectively for every WHC missed. For example, if you enter WHC for the first time at WHC#124, your name will be added to the table, with 27 points, plus whatever you score in WHC#124.
    6. Each week 5 bonus points may be awarded at "the judges' discretion". Criteria for earning the Bonus Points are not fixed but will include:
*An amusing pic or amusing post
    * Any "very excellent" contribution to the forum/ group
*Significant effort and improvement (so either lots of times submitted, or a big improvement between the first time submitted and final time)
    *Posting a brilliant set-up
*Continuous participation - loyalty to WHC
    * Correcting mistakes by the administrator
    * Having a disastrous Valentines OR anything else the judges decide worthy.

The updated Championship league table will be displayed in a new post in the Console Lounge each week.

    7. Specialist Challenges will also feature throughout the season. These will be as monthly mini-series, for example Formula 1 February or Muscle Car Month, or nominated car types, for example the best driver in road cars. These events will be announced in the WHC Thread. The winner of each Specialist Challenge will receive 5 bonus points.

At the end of the year, the WHC before Xmas week, the winners will be declared -
    * Championship podium
    * Specialist Challenge Winners
    * 1st place Contributor (the most Bonus points)
    * 1st place Loyal Lapper (who has entered most regularly, most often, if there is a draw, Bonus points count, then Champ points)

Ooooh It’s gonna be a tough one this.
I’ve never actually took part when it’s been Laguna sec because I’m so bad at it and usually give up after 10 mins instead of trying to learn it.
On the plus side I never got to try this car the first time round so I’m looking forward to finally having a drive in it.

They label the apex with those little coloured curbs which might be helpful when learning.

For PC guys there is a really cool track skin you can download for Laguna Seca which changes all the banners to more retro ones, it might change curb colours also. I imagine it would feel a lot nicer with that skin in this car. You might need CM to use it though IIRC.

I forgot just how enjoyable this car is to drive. Great chemistry with Laguna Seca to boot, a track that on its own I'm not too fond of. As for setup, changes include limiter at max, minimum fuel, a notch more aero both front and rear, 30/20/10 differential, tire pressures decreased to 16 front 15 rear, a little bit of toe dialed out (60 front 48 rear), and front raised and rear decreased by a notch each for anti-roll bar. Just trying to tune out the understeer through turns and get the car rotating quicker on entry. Who's got the magic/money setup though? Let's see it! haha

My problem is not being able to practice much so my tuning is very limited.I think I need to take a closer look at this.Instead of just adjusting this and that as quickly as possible I need to really think about it and start making notes;)
