1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Generic Weekly Hotlap Challenge #120 – The Fourth Generation

Discussion in 'Console Lounge' started by Totall Wrytoff, Mar 17, 2019.

  1. Welcome to the thread for the Weekly Hotlap Challenge #120 – The Fourth Generation.
This is also Round Three of the second mini-series “The Family Man,” which will run to the end of March and feature cars that would be good for ferrying the wife and kids whilst putting a smile on the face of Dad.

    The Challenge:
    Hotlap
    Car: BMW M3 E92 Step 1
    Track: Silverstone National
    upload_2019-3-17_21-7-33.png
    upload_2019-3-17_21-7-44.png
This week it’s the BMW M3 E92 Step 1 at the Silverstone National Circuit. We’ve never used the car before and this version of the circuit has only featured once previously in WHC.
I had an E90, the four door with a manual gearbox and I notice the ratios are different for the DCT gearbox in this car. I prefer the ratios used in the manual, they suit that brilliant engine better. For example, giving it the beans, you would take third gear at around sixty mph and hammer up to the 8,500rpm red line, slot fourth and you would be doing around 110mph and really howling, both inside the car (wife) and outside the car, (utterly glorious 4litre V8.) Sadly my highly strung engine chewed up its crank bearings with around 60k miles on the clock.

So, apart from the boy racer paint scheme, what is the Step 1? This is the explanation according to the Assetto Corsa Database (http://assetto-db.com/) :

The Step1 tuned version of M3 E92 series has non-adjustable aftermarket dampers and lowered springs. There are some compromises as the rear subframe chassis spring sockets, can't handle very stiff springs, so the front is more stiff than the rear.
The fourth generation - 20 years and still designed to thrill.
The BMW M3 Coupe continues the tradition of the M GmbH to build a perfect high-performance sports car. It comes with a completely new V8 engine and drivetrain, a lightweight body that is also extremely stiff, a lowered centre of gravity and a carbon roof which, while just as strong as a steel roof, weighs far less. And of course, everything has been tried and tested on the toughest proving ground in the world, the Nurburgring-Nordschleife. Underneath the distinctive powerdome: the V8 high-rev engine with up to 8.400 rpm which is transferred by the double-clutch transmission M DKG Drivelogic to the M differential lock and then to the rear wheels without the slightest disruption to tractive force.

It looks lower and possibly corners flatter than the standard car but it feels very similar.
    upload_2019-3-17_21-8-59.png
Even with the DCT, it’s a great drive. Steer with your fingertips, it gets up on its tiptoes and has a lovely balance so feels brilliant through the sweeping corners of the Silverstone National Circuit. But, it will bite!

The recommended tyre pressures in psi are:
    Street - fronts = 42 Rears = 43
    Semislicks - fronts 33 Rears = 34

How to take part - Hot lap:
To enter, select Drive > Hotlap, choose the BMW M3 E92 Step 1 and Silverstone National circuit. Please setup the session as shown below:

    Mode: Hotlap
    Time of day: Free
    Ambient Temp: 26 Degrees
    Setup: Free
    Controller: Free
    Assists: Free
    Stability: Free

To qualify for WHC you must have the ambient temp set to 26 DegC.

    Deadline: Sunday 23rd March 2019 - 21:00 GMT.

You can run as many laps as you like and update your times as often as you like. It is all about taking part, testing yourself and enjoying Assetto Corsa. All Platforms are welcome.
To submit a time, pause the game and select 'session' from the menu and screenshot this page or take a photo of your screen and post it in this thread - Note all the information from the screen is required including temperature, mode heading and of course the car being used!
Please post video clips and share information in here as well, but without the session screen your time will not be included (placing the session screen in a video clip is acceptable).

    Weekly Hotlap Challenge Championship League
    How it works:
    1. Enter the Weekly Hotlap Challenge as posted every Sunday evening and you will be automatically entered into the league table.
    2. Your ranking in the final standings, posted on Sunday evening, will earn you points, as follows:
    Place Points: 1st 14 2nd 13 3rd 12 4th 11 5th 10 6th 9 7th 8 8th 7 9th 6 10th 5
    3. Every player taking part in a WHC, but finishing outside the top 10 will get 4 points.
    4. Every player who is in the table, (ie has entered a previous WHC) but does not play that week will get three points each week.
    5. Players that join WHC after next week's WHC#114 will be awarded 3 points retrospectively for every WHC missed. For example, if you enter WHC for the first time at WHC#124, your name will be added to the table, with 27 points, plus whatever you score in WHC#124.
    6. Specialist Challenges will also feature throughout the season. These will be as monthly mini-series, for example Formula 1 February or Muscle Car Month, or nominated car types, for example the best driver in road cars. These events will be announced in the WHC Thread. The winner of each Specialist Challenge will receive 5 bonus points.

The updated Championship league table will be displayed in a new post in the Console Lounge each week.

At the end of the year, the WHC before Xmas week, the winners will be declared -
    * Championship podium
    * Specialist Challenge Winners
    * 1st place Contributor (the most Bonus points)
    * 1st place Loyal Lapper (who has entered most regularly, most often, if there is a draw, then Champ points count)

    First few laps.
haven’t got a clue what time is good enough but usually I’m 3-4 seconds off on a Monday.
Not sure about turn 1 or turn 2 yet keep wheel spinning, sliding and loosing time.
    Nice combo again Totall

Sorry guys quick question. Didn't really get it the last time. When recommended tyre pressure for example Semislicks - fronts 33 Rears = 34. Does that mean its the value we put on (right side of the screen on console) or looking at the hot value (small print to the left of the screen). Thanks in advance

  10. Lewisxbone

    Lewisxbone Alien

I think it means The number on the left (hot)
So On this car if I put in 25 ( on the right) it = 33.6 hot

First time driving this car for me, but I am a big fan of the non modified version. Its all about getting the power down without spinning the wheels. I love trying to finesse cars like this.

    Braking power 100%
    tc off
    abs on
    6 laps of fuel

Great job getting the WR @sissydriver sorry it was only for a short time!

Lol! I only have a GTX 1070, running at 3440*1440 100hz Gsync. GPU records at 1920*1080 which is less intensive and YouTube downscales it to that resolution anyway.
All settings maximum except with PP and reflections off.
CPU lets me down with large grids tho.

Normally get 200-300 FPS on track alone, down to maybe 100 on the grid with 24 cars on an official track and some mod tracks/cars much lower.. for example league race recently with 32 players at Okayama down to 49 FPS :(
