1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Generic Weekly Hotlap Challenge #131 – Project Eagle

Discussion in 'Console Lounge' started by Totall Wrytoff, Jun 2, 2019.

  1. Welcome to the thread for the Weekly Hotlap Challenge #131 - Project Eagle and the Second Round of a new mini-series, The Anglo-American Challenge.

    The Challenge:
    Hotlap
    Car: Lotus Evora GTC
    Track: Laguna Seca
    upload_2019-6-2_21-42-52.png
    upload_2019-6-2_21-43-2.png
We’re back to downforce and grippy tyres this week in the scalpel sharp Lotus Evora GTC

The Lotus Evora road car was launched in 2008 and was Lotus's first ever mid-engined 2+2, although in fact, the rear seats were an optional extra. The Evora’s development programme was rather dramatically named Project Eagle, which well suits our Anglo-US Mini-series.
The Lotus GTC, produced from 2012, is a race car based on the GT4 Enduro car. You could buy a newly built one from Lotus Racing or as an upgrade package for your existing Evora GT4 Enduro car.
Suitably continuing the Anglo-American theme, the Evora GTC was built to compete in Endurance racing and America’s Grand-Am road races, the Rolex Sports Car Series. It must have raced at Laguna Seca in the 2013 Series, the race was the Continental Tire Sports Car Festival, but having had quite a search, I can’t find any details.
Although based on the GT4 race car, the GTC is around 30kg lighter due to its carbon-fibre doors and roof. The engine cover is fibre-glass and the windows are Plexiglass. The GTC is powered by a Cosworth tuned 4 litre V6 giving 450 HP and 324 lbs-ft of torque. Drive is via an XTRAC six-speed sequential paddle-shift and the car had traction control and ABS.
The Evora will take some getting used to after last week! In Quick Race mode the Aliens are doing 1.26s which is faster than I was able to manage in the 5-6 laps of testing… but watching a replay I realised I was braking far too much and too early. Obviously that’s the driving trauma left over from last week’s challenge!

Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is now known as the WeatherTech Raceway Laguna, is just over 2.2 miles long with a 55 m elevation change. You’ll be looking to carry some serious speed through the circuit’s open curves, again a big adjustment from last week!

The tyre options are Hard, Medium and Soft slicks, recommended pressure for all is 26psi all round. (On stock setting I was faster on the mediums.:))

    Gentlemen, start your engines!

How to take part - Hot lap:
To enter, select Hotlap, choose the Lotus Evora GTC and the Laguna Seca Circuit. Please setup the session as shown below:
    Mode: Hotlap
    Time of day: Free
    Ambient Temp: 26 Degrees
    Setup: Free
    Controller: Free
    Assists: Free
    Stability: Free

To qualify for WHC you must have the ambient temp set to 26 DegC.

    Deadline: Sunday 9th June 2019 - 21:00 GMT.

You can run as many laps as you like and update your times as often as you like. It is all about taking part, testing yourself and enjoying Assetto Corsa. All Platforms are welcome.
To submit a time, pause the game and select 'session' from the menu and screenshot this page or take a photo of your screen and post it in this thread - Note all the information from the screen is required including temperature, mode heading and of course the car being used!
Please post video clips and share information in here as well, but without the session screen your time will not be included (placing the session screen in a video clip is acceptable).
Please use the following format to post your times:
Your time, to be shown as x.xx.xxx.
    Your platform (PC Xb1 PS4)
The image or screen shot showing your time.
    Your thoughts and comment

Please mark updated times with Improvement.

    Weekly Hotlap Challenge Championship League
    How it works:
    1. Enter the Weekly Hotlap Challenge as posted every Sunday evening and you will be automatically entered into the league table.
    2. Your ranking in the final standings, posted on Sunday evening, will earn you points, as follows:
    Place Points: 1st 15 2nd 14 3rd 13 4th 12 5th 11 6th 10 7th 9 8th 8 9th 7 10th 66
    3. Every player taking part in a WHC, but finishing outside the top 10 will get 4 points.
    4. Every player who is in the table, (ie has entered a previous WHC) but does not play that week will get three points each week.
    5. Players that join WHC after WHC#114 will be awarded 3 points retrospectively for every WHC missed. For example, if you enter WHC for the first time at WHC#124, your name will be added to the table, with 27 points, plus whatever you score in WHC#124.
    6. Specialist Challenges will also feature throughout the season. These will be as monthly mini-series, for example Formula 1 February or Muscle Car Month, or nominated car types, for example the best driver in road cars. These events will be announced in the WHC Thread.

The updated Championship league table will be displayed in a new post in the Console Lounge each week.
At the end of the year, the WHC before Xmas week, the winners will be declared -
    * Championship podium
    * Specialist Challenge Winners
    * 1st place Contributor (the most Bonus points)
    * 1st place Loyal Lapper (who has entered most regularly, most often, if there is a draw, Bonus points count, then Champ points)

All I could do last night. I see that the best ones are on 1.23. That's gonna need some good driving as I don't know how to get 4 seconds faster. Seems a lot. Maybe a magic setting.. for the moment TC2 softened the springs and higher bias.

Brilliant again. Thanks for the video and settings. I really don't understand the psi left and right sides. I understand front and back but do you put more pressure on left side because of more left turn? Does it not affect the right turns on the track? Sorry only if you have a chance to answer

You have to see this video, the tyre pressure question is nicely explained in it.

Yes. The right side tires get hot which in turn increases psi, so you don't need as much pressure in them to equal 26psi on track. Also psi is much more important to get right versus the temperature. By the end of the 3rd lap I had 3 red tires...

You always want all 4 tires to be at the optimal psi (which Total Wrytoff provides in the description of the event) while on the track. So in this case its 26psi. Use the app on screen to see what the psi is while on track and adjust yours to suit. You might require diff psi values than me due to setup options or driving style or whatever.

Generally, when I say I modified someone's downloaded tune from the setup market, I just change the fuel levels, and the tire psi to suit and turn tc off or as close to off as I can.

Sometimes, Ill change the gearing or brake balance to suit a track that a tune isn't really meant for but has similar types of corners. If the car is oversteering mid corner I had some +toe. If it still oversteers, then I add some -camber too. If it still is oversteering I try softening the arbs, then soften wheel rates. After all that then I try reducing the aero and go through the process again. Thats all I usually have the time and patience to tune a car.

Its probably not how pro tuners tune but that my process, so take it with a grain of salt.

Great. Thanks a lot. I was wondering about temperature and it makes sense now. I will try ro fixe that this evening on my own settings. I more or less have the same approach concerning oversteering. Thanks again
