1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Generic Weekly Hotlap Challenge #133 – A swan song -The last gasp for natural aspiration

Discussion in 'Console Lounge' started by Totall Wrytoff, Jun 16, 2019.

  1. Welcome to the thread for the Weekly Hotlap Challenge #133 - The last gasp for natural aspiration? and the Final Round of the themed mini-series, The Anglo-American Challenge.

    The Challenge:
    Hotlap
    Car: Chevrolet Corvette C7R
    Track: Highlands Long
    upload_2019-6-16_21-30-22.png
    upload_2019-6-16_21-30-31.png
This week we’re doing a 24 Heures du Mans lite.
We’re taking one of the best sounding cars out there, pure American muscle, the Chevrolet Corvette C7R, built and developed for the 2014 season with US engineering firm Pratt and Miller. Pratt & Miller teamed up with Chevrolet in 1999 to develop the Corvette Racing program. This year is Chevrolet’s 20th consecutive year at Le Mans and they have been impressively successful with eight class victories in 19 attempts.

Sadly 2019 is the final season Team Chevrolet is running the C7R. It was launched in 2014 as a successor to the C6, but it’s time has come and in Chevrolet’s own words; “it’s time to face change.”
So, next month Chevrolet will be introducing the C8....
Now, you may smirk and think that eight sounds like the number after seven, but the engine in next year's car will NOT be naturally aspirated!! It will be turbocharged and that clearly weighs heavy on the good ol’ boys in Deeetroit. That's big change. The thought actually gives me goosebumps, but we must be sensible - we are at the end of an era, the music must change. Burning fossil fuel isn’t sensible anymore. Having said that, I do think, as I rip-up up to the redline and slot the next gear to do it over again, a pukka combustion engine is the most fantastic way to burn it. Like crack-cocaine, you know it does no good but you can’t help it, I imagine.
    upload_2019-6-16_21-31-38.png
We last used the C7R at Monza in WHC#35 and it looks like we have the 2014 spec car in the game. (There were substantial aero upgrades from 2016 onwards and the front splitter was much more elaborate.) The C7R is powered by one of the last of the naturally aspirated V8s, Chevrolet’s trusty 5.5 litre small-block, pushrod V8. The all-aluminium, dry sump, 90deg V8 with 2 overhead valves per cylinder featured new, direct injection for improved economy. It has a 6-speed sequential gearbox with drive to the rear and it thumps out around 500bhp, masses of torque and a thunderous, bellowing rumble.

The air is clean and fresh in the Highlands, there is very little pollution. All the better for the V8 to breathe then. The Highlands Long layout is as close as we get to La Sarthe – it has a very long straight, fast sweeping bends but also tight corners and the circuit is a public road.
So let’s have a big rumble in the glens!
Let’s have a swan song for American cubic muscle and the last of the naturally aspirated V8s!

A full set of racing slicks from Super Soft to Super Hard is available, the recommended tyre pressure, whatever your choice, is 26psi all round.

How to take part - Hot lap:
To enter, select Hotlap, choose the Chevrolet Corvette C7R and the Highlands Long circuit. Please setup the session as shown below:

    Mode: Hotlap
    Time of day: Free
    Ambient Temp: 26 Degrees
    Setup: Free
    Controller: Free
    Assists: Free
    Stability: Free

To qualify for WHC you must have the ambient temp set to 26 DegC.
    Deadline: Sunday 23rd June 2019 - 21:00 GMT.

You can run as many laps as you like and update your times as often as you like. It is all about taking part, testing yourself and enjoying Assetto Corsa. All Platforms are welcome.
To submit a time, pause the game and select 'session' from the menu and screenshot this page or take a photo of your screen and post it in this thread - Note all the information from the screen is required including temperature, mode heading and of course the car being used!
Please post video clips and share information in here as well, but without the session screen your time will not be included (placing the session screen in a video clip is acceptable).

    Weekly Hotlap Challenge Championship League
    How it works:
    1. Enter the Weekly Hotlap Challenge as posted every Sunday evening and you will be automatically entered into the league table.
    2. Your ranking in the final standings, posted on Sunday evening, will earn you points, as follows:
    Place Points: 1st 15 2nd 14 3rd 13 4th 12 5th 11 6th 10 7th 9 8th 8 9th 7 10th 66
    3. Every player taking part in a WHC, but finishing outside the top 10 will get 4 points.
    4. Every player who is in the table, (ie has entered a previous WHC) but does not play that week will get three points each week.
    5. Players that join WHC after WHC#114 will be awarded 3 points retrospectively for every WHC missed. For example, if you enter WHC for the first time at WHC#124, your name will be added to the table, with 27 points, plus whatever you score in WHC#124.
    6. Specialist Challenges will also feature throughout the season. These will be as monthly mini-series, for example Formula 1 February or Muscle Car Month, or nominated car types, for example the best driver in road cars. These events will be announced in the WHC Thread.
The updated Championship league table will be displayed in a new post in the Console Lounge each week.
At the end of the year, the WHC before Xmas week, the winners will be declared -
    * Championship podium
    * Specialist Challenge Winners
    * 1st place Contributor (the most Bonus points)
    * 1st place Loyal Lapper (who has entered most regularly, most often, if there is a draw, Bonus points count, then Champ points)

Did one lap on the softs, changed the transmission and lowered aero, then did this lap on the Supersofts.
Top speed was 189mph, sixth gear was set at 196mph, aero at 1 and 2, front to back.

Loving this track and the car but I am really slow. 1.30 Totall. Wow..
I did a race with Aliens to learn a bit more but I still don't see where I can find that much time. Feel like I am pushing a good bit. I have TC 2 but not sure it's right. Anyway I'll try later again to find 7 seconds..

    Great post Tibor. :D:D:D

The best time on RSR is 3:21.549,, so there's masses of time available around the lap.
I'm hoping for a low 3.28 by the end of the week.;)

I’ll be honest I was thinking about missing this one when I saw highlands long. I don’t know many tracks that well and the longer the track the bigger the deficit I give to the top drivers in the group, but I enjoy. The challenge so I gave it a go. Tbh I was struggling to break the 4 mins barrier for half hour but gradually worked out the mistakes and pushed a little harder so delighted with my 3.45 ! The car really is a delight to drive although I think I need to give up the downforce if I want to make the time up on the long straights, but I like the cornering!!
Ps I know track grip is low it really seems like pot luck to get 100 maybe next time..

  14. Very well posted Chaos_Chris.
WHC is about having a go, improving and being satisfied with the improvement.
Track grip shouldn't be pot luck, it is found on the first page of settings, once you have selected the car, track and then "continue." Highlight the box and scroll to "optimum" and you will gain chunks of time on every corner.:)

A 3:21 is absolutely impossible for me.
Even at the first split I’m down 2 seconds already.

I’ve tried aero at 0 but couldn’t handle the car on most corners, plus it only gained me 2mph on the long straight.
2 rear 1 front seems nice.

I just couldn't resist and had to have a go :) I still feel bad that I couldn't participate last week.

About the car now... I just had 40min run.. I can't say anything about settings.. I have used TC1 and superslicks but they were in red all the way. Other than that I haven't made any additional settings

Hopefully I will have another go on the weekend as I feel I can still gain 1-2s no problem.

Another quick word of advice for those that are afraid of big gaps.. Just do not get intimidated by the length of the track.. It is easy to learn and in the end we are all here to learn.. It is just ones learn quicker than others, no shame in that [IMG]
