1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

How to tell where you are in pace? Per track evaluation

Hi all, I was wondering if someone could help compiling a kind of "skill to laptime" evaluation to give users a better understanding of their pace.

    Something rank based like:

    1. Alien
    2. Pro simracer
    3. Fast driver
    4. Midfielder
    5. Slow driver
    6. Very slow driver
And per track so something like

    Spa ranking
    (Times are examples)

    Sub 2.19 alien
    2.19 to 2.20.5 pro simracer
    2.20.6 to 2.21.5 fast
    2.21.6 to 2.22.5 midfielder
    2.22.6 to 2.24 slow
    2.24 on very slow

I think this could help driver understand what tracks to improve on, and give some targets to aim at.

    What do you guys think?

    SPA? Why?
Or is it a test for passing Eau Rouge?

  4. Karsten Beoulve

I clearly stated to have such rankings for all tracks, and that spa and those laptimes are just examples pulled out of thin air.

In this case, it should be Nurburgring.

It should be all tracks! i guess there's a language barrier at work here...

Sorry, now I understand you. Yes, because of the language barrier, there are sometimes funny situations):(

I think it's a great idea personally. I think I'm going to find it very depressing because I'm pretty slow, but I'm aiming to improve. one additional thought, I wonder how the different driver rankings that already exist (bronze, silver etc) play into this idea though?

  9. I see what you did there, but your criteria is way too vague still. Whats a pro-simracer for example? alien? fast driver?

We all know someone who's ridiculously fast, do they qualify as alien? The best and fastest are always at the top of the time charts in the special events.

Then your lap criteria, is that in optimum conditions? optimum conditions and 20-24C track temp? optimum conditions and 36C track temp? Times differ by a considerable margin with different track temp. Are the laps with 120L of fuel at a stint start, or after 2hrs of racing at second stint end? Or are we talking pure qualifying pace, 3 laps or less.

One lap pace with the Huracan on almost any track is quite easy. Win a race with it... not so easy. Chasing time is a good thing if you're looking at it as a need to improve overall, but for a race for competition:
    • 1 LAP pace < Race Pace/Consistency
Simracers practice, but dont really practice well. Good practice > Bad Practice, dont crash, dont overdrive, gradual lap time improvement, car management, gap management etc etc. For new simracers coming into the hobby all of that is lost. You can see it in the posts we make about complaining about certain things we dont have in ACC, but the actual driving no one talks about. 23890523 threads about "ACC is dead already/Kunos we need modding" maybe 10 or so threads I've been into about specific car setup, dynamics etc with quality posts by knowledgeable individuals.

Finally it's good that you made this post because it shows you're looking to get better and more competitive. Keep at it, step by step, it takes time but if you love simracing and competition like some of us here do, it's well worth it.

From my experience online, the driving classes (AM, PRO-AM, PRO) tend to indicate levels of racecraft more so than outright pace. I've seen plenty of rapid AM drivers in multiplayer, the other day an AM driver topped qualifying at Monza with a 1:46  I'm ranked PRO but my best around that track is high 1:47's ...

Well we would have to choose track conditions, but while i understand what you talk about, it's totally unrelated to pace. Consistency is important but a slower driver will never beat another one that is 3 seconds per lap faster, even if he makes some mistakes. So we talk about pace.
that rankings are just based on the driver/livery you choose they do not actually work

SPA, by cutting or staying on the track at the top of Red Waters, I noticed that there was a large number of drivers who were cutting this turn without being penalized, the four wheels off the track.

I think this is highly interesting but also complicated due to track conditions. Maybe this could be considered for the hotlap pace, IIRC the track conditions are fixed in that case? Also depends on the car slightly.

A good visualisation for this can be done for each car/track combo by showing how many drivers have managed a specific lap time. For example start with the best time, .200 second steps and count how many drivers fall into each step. I think RSR had such a feature for AC as well. From this distribution you could see quite well where you are in pace for a specific combo.
Bad thing is that rare combos will get much less data, also the spread will be different for Honda @ Hungaroring than for Porsche @ Spa.

That's actually incorrect. They are based on your total rating -

    Below 7000 - AM
    7000 - 8000 - PRO-AM
    Above 8000 - PRO

The sticker on your car when racing online will reflect your total rating score (TO) accordingly.

Nice idea, but don't the ratings (PC, RC (when it works), CP) already give you a pretty good idea of where you stand relative to others? I hope that when the 'fastest lap' information is populated in the UI that it tells you your standing as well as the lap time.

we can do a dream tour and be classified Alien, and be bad on a race of 30 or 40 laps

One could plot a chart of laptime against number of people who have achieved it. Few aliens, lots of middle ground times, few really really slow. It would be like a typical normal distribution graph, on which you can see where you are, and the standard deviations at work.

I'd be happy to if I knew where to get the information! Asking for it on here will result in a small sample of data (and probably skewed data too!), whereas the devs will have access to that information automagically. Either they could share it, or plot the graphs themselves?

We need a ranking like in AC with RSR Live Timing: made the difference

  21. Achokaracho

    Achokaracho Racer

    Why?
We have special events, there you can see how fast you are compared to other drivers.
And when it's implemented and works, you see your best lap time per track, real life record and world record simracing time per track.
