1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Test: CPU Core count and RAM scaling in ACC, AC1 and R3E

    Hello guys

Couldn't find decent data so I did these tests myself during the holidays.

    • Max settings @ 720P (Max distances, Max shadows, Max mirrors etc) to push for the max cpu drawcalls.
    • Heavy duty multiplayer race replays were used, with 20~30 cars.
    • 1 entire lap per test. With the camera set on the pole car, looking backwards (showing all 30 cars - worse case scenario), at the race start, lasting an entire lap
    • 2 runs per test.

    Test 1

    CPU core count scaling

    Test 2

    HyperThreading ON / OFF scaling

    Test 3

    Ram speed scaling

If you play offline against AI, none of these results should apply to your situation.

    Cheers

So ACC doesn't really scale with more than 4cores without AI. Do you think with AI it would be the same?

  5. Daniel Costa

    Daniel Costa Racer

Well, we learned ACC rendering pipeline needs 4 cores until it starts being bottle-necked by the 1080TI again.

But I'm pretty sure the AI would cause much much higher CPU usages with much lower FPS than my tests, specially in the 2-4 core counts without HT. But with 6 or 8 cores + hyperthreading ON, I think the framerates would be approximate to what I tested. I'm speculating. This needs another round of tests but I never play offline.

  7. I can confirm this :) The change from I5-4670K to I7-4790K was a huge performance boost especially online and against the AI.

Very nicely done  and interesting to see the negative effect of HT.

I was getting (not tested for a while ) huge stutter problems when I had ht turned off in vr

With your CPU, HT off means that you only have 4 threads to handle the game + windows and apps. Even though my tests show HT = OFF is the better result, it does not have into account VR and other apps you might have open in the background. So it makes sense you have stutters.

Interesting test, thank you for posting this

So 4 cores without HT are faster that 8 cores with HT. ...d@mn
and 5 cores without HT gives the overall best result. ...stunning.

In general i wonder if this is the result of a non-optimized unreal engine (i think so) or something that maybe Kunos could adjust in future.

Did you have disabled HT and cores in the BIOS or with a software tool?

  14. Also online racing is very demanding in ACC. Rendering cars similar to races against the AI. HT brings also online a huge performance boost in my case. Always related to the I7-4790K.

  15. In case of AC/ACC then it's not really very representative of the actual online playing.
In replay all the physics threads are stopped so you are really only testing the graphics engine performance, not dissimilar from the AC benchmark mode (also a replay). So HT results are to be taken for what they are, especially in AC where you're basically running a single threaded app in that scenario.

Lord Kunos is right, a benchmark feature in-game running full physics would help to obtain more accurate results :D

I think that if – designed right (basically add a huge number of AI cars) – ACC could be a very nice gaming benchmark for the CPU, but with the given possibilities the CPU is rarely limiting, so it's not so much of an issue anyway.

I am curious. Lets say one game likes HT and one game does not. Is there any software that can disabled/enabled HT per game? Currently I only know how to enable/disable HT via the bios.

You can use the task manager by finding the process in details when running, not very convenient but maybe easier than bios
