1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Generic Christmas Hotlap Challenge #159 – A Christmas triple tipple

Welcome to the thread for the Weekly Hotlap Challenge #159 – A Christmas triple tipple.

First of all A HUGE THANK-YOU to F1415182235 and Lewisxbone for keeping the show rolling over the last few weeks!

You will have noticed it is Christmas time again!
WHC159 is a two week triple tipple - and let’s hope none of us will be able to say that by midday on the 25th! You have until next year to work your way through the card!

    Menu:
    Bucks Fizz:
    Car: McLaren 570S
    Track: Monza 1966 Road Course
    upload_2019-12-21_18-4-39.png
    upload_2019-12-21_18-4-46.png
First up, we have an effervescent, Anglo-Italian, pre-prandial primo – the McLaren 570S around Monza Road course. Stiff as stiff carbon tub chassis, utterly compelling drive train and it just floats over the road, all the time hooked up like a cat on a velvet curtain. This is very, very fast. Fourth gear acceleration is eye-widening. The car is an absolute beaut. It is delicious! The 570 is the baby in the ranger and it is nearly as perfect as the baby in the manger. (Soz.)
At the speeds generated around this track, turn in is ace - assured and confidence inspiring. Superbly flat, the mid corner stability allows you to think about early full throttle and the traction on the way out is big grin worthy!
I love this car – first laps out, keep an eye on the speedo if poss. It’s wow!

    The Burgundy:
    Car: BMW M4 Akrapovic
    Track: Imola

    upload_2019-12-21_18-6-15.png
Onto the Burgundy and I’m afraid the tipple analogy falls a bit flat in this central European combination. Germany is Gewurztraminer and Imola is Barbera and Sangiovese, but I would stick to what is safe, so a Romanée Conti it is, or Chambertin if it’s a budget year. We’ve never used the BMW M4 in WHC, and obviously we have to have the Akrapovic version. Akrapovic is a Slovenian based manufacturer of aftermarket exhaust systems. Lighter and offering slight gains in power and torque, they are made of Titanium and in BMW’s case, try hard to make the engine sound good. Rather like the wine, in the M4 you are going faster than you think. Which means it’s very easy to out brake yourself…. The motor is smooth but brutally torquey and not at all turkey. But this is a good ride. Quiet (ish), smooth, satisfyingly powerful and with a well composed chassis, you are like a devil on horseback. You will enjoy getting better and better the more you go rounder and rounder.

    Port and cigars:
    Car: Lotus Type 49
    Track: Black Cat County Short
    upload_2019-12-21_18-8-25.png
    upload_2019-12-21_18-8-32.png
….Just at the time you should be retired to the drawing room, most probably to the sofa – head back, mouth open, eyes closed, cigar smouldering gently against the upholstery and the port stain growing across your lap – you are going to have to up your game.
….And Colin suggests we add lightness, just when we have gained many, many kilos….

So this 2 litre Cosworth - with wheels, transmission and cockpit lightly bolted to it - will most certainly wake you up. In fact, this is very noisy indeed and will require an adjustment to your surround sound system! I’ve chosen a longer track for the 49 to try to mimic the long courses of the time and in fact, for my standard of driving, the tiny car on the wide road works well! The extra room gives enough time to manage a slide without the desperate panic and it does like to slide. On the way in to the apex, especially on the way through. And definitely on the way out. In 1967 the number 5 car (shown) was driven by Jim Clark, who finished 3rd in the driver’s championship, whilst Graham Hill drove the factory liveried number 6 and finished 6th.
    upload_2019-12-21_18-10-50.png
This is the first time an engine is used as a “stressed member.” ie: it forms part of the chassis – with transmission and suspension bolted on behind and the monocoque bolted to the front.

I’m aware that Lewis doesn’t like port and cigars (Black Cats) which is why there are three challenges and he is excused this challenge!

WHC 159 will close on Sunday 5th January Twenty Twenty. There will be a leaderboard for those finishing all tipples. Who will be fastest over the Christmas triple?

Please consume responsibly and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a very happy new year, with stella results!

The two laps indicated is deceptive. Flagging early. Not sure I can manage the Port and cigars...:D

I had to take advantage of the few hours of opportunity to participate today. Never sure when I'll have time! I spent the most time chasing the world record in the McLaren and then I realized there were 2 other challenges. I did not spend much time on the burgundy or port and cigars..very minimal laps on those attempts. The previous world record for port and cigars was not any indication of what times we will actually see. 2.47 was not difficult to surpass with only 4 laps around. Awesome fun @Totall Wrytoff , thank you!
