1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Weekly Hotlap Challenge #165 – Ok I'll Alfa another go...

Welcome to the thread for the Weekly Hotlap Challenge #165

In Geneva Motor Show Alfa Romeo introduced a new Quadrifoglio Verde, it has new 1,742 cc (1.7 L; 106.3 cu in) Turbo gasoline direct injection aluminium-block Inline-four engine now upgraded to 240 PS (177 kW; 237 hp) at 5750 rpm and 340 N⋅m (251 lb⋅ft) at 2000 rpm of torque[20] and Alfa TCT 6-speed twin dry clutch transmission borrowed from the Alfa Romeo 4C. With new engine the Giulietta's flagship can exceed 240 km/h (149 mph) and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in only 6.0 seconds.

This new facelifted version was premiered with a limited 'Launch Edition', recognizable by the black-finish on the sills all round. Available in new matt Grigio Magnesio Opaco along with Rosso Alfa and Rosso Competizione. Each car has its own numbered plaque. Around 700 units were made.

I chose the Alfa for this weeks challenge because we haven't used an FWD car in a long time and it is one of the more entertaining FWD cars around the Sprint track, which is one of our least used tracks. I also love "real life combo's" because I imagine myself winning the lotto and touring the worlds famous racetracks with my stable of exotic cars. It also reminds me of my youth, when I used to drive a hopped up '95 Dodge Neon. Anyways, turn the TC off and teach yourself about throttle control without all the drama of oversteer!

In the 1980s the Nordschleife was classified as unsafe for Formula 1 – the most famous example is probably Niki Lauda’s accident in 1976. For this reason the series was held at Hockenheim alone from 1997 on. To attract Formula 1 back to the Eifel, the then 4.5 kilometre Grand Prix Track was built between 1981 and 1984, and was extended in 2001 by the "Mercedes Arena" section to its present length of 5.148 kilometres.

Today the circuit is between 10 and 25 m wide, featuring seven left and ten right turns, as well as large run-off zones and gravel beds. The Grand Prix Track is known to be a modern and safe racing circuit which hosts top-notch motorsport events.

The WR on RSR is 1.53.213 set back in 2018. Only 14 people have attempted laps with this combo. (spoiler alert: the WR may have been recently updated ;))

Recommended pressure for the Street tyres is 42psi.

How to take part - Hot lap:
To enter, select Hotlap, choose the Alfa Romeo Giulietta QV Launch Edition and the Nurburgring Sprint circuit.
Please setup the session as shown below:
    Mode: Hotlap
    Time of day: Free
    Ambient Temp: 26 Degrees
    Setup: Free
    Controller: Free
    Assists: Free
    Stability: Free
To qualify you must have the ambient temp set to 26 DegC.

    Deadline: February 16 - by 18:00 GMT.

Chequered Flag will drop shortly before 6pm.

You can run as many laps as you like and update your times as often as you like. It is all about taking part, pushing yourself and enjoying Assetto Corsa. All Platforms are welcome.
To submit a time, pause the game and select 'session' from the menu and screenshot this page or take a photo of your screen and post it in this thread - Note all the information from the screen is required including temperature, mode heading and of course the car being used!

Please use the following format to post your times:
Improvement (Only required if you have already posted a time)
Your name (as you would like it to appear on the leaderboard)
Your time - shown as x.xx.xxx.
    Your platform (PC Xb1 PS4)
The screen shot showing your time.
(Optional but in the spirit) Your thoughts and comment

Failure to use the correct format is considered by all as very sloppy and can make the admin very slightly more complicated. You run the risk of adverse comment. Additional infringement generates a personal message from Head of Admin. If, astonishingly, that is not enough, your relationship with the WHC will be extremely rocky and your lap times may not feature in the standings.

This is a tricky car to make it go fast, which is why I like it. This car illustrates the balance between maintaining momentum and throttle control without having to worry about corrective steering inputs so you can focus on maximum apex exit speed. Gaining time by getting a good launch out of every corner is more important than trying to 'save time' by braking late into the corners.

I left a bit of room for improvement with my lap. I expect my time will be beaten!!

The car is surely not easy to drive fast. Throttle input is the decider here. Understeer or more understeer :p
I lost 2 tenths in my fourth attempt and came up with this (I forgot to screenshot track conditions though :oops::

WHL Raw. No wrestling here though.

First time in this car and sraight in on stock set up. Not much to change here to be fair.

I wanted to get through all the fuel without seeing the ghost; ie improving every lap.

Started north of two minutes but chipped away at it. In the end I invalidated lap 13 at the chicane, but I was down on the ghost anyway.

Four seconds behind GGE & PR but I'd expect that. Laptime screen is at the end.

I did this last night but was too completely intimidated to post.:)
I only did 10 laps to moody's 13, hence the time is a touch slower....:D AND this lap was before watching Pr's video.... and it was windy outside and very late.

Up by an even better (?) 4/10ths, but tightened up and lost it at the horrid, lumpy, throw-you-off-course-if-you're-rubbish, final chicane.
Low 2.03s for me, by the end of the week.

I had a quick go with the stock setup to see how good my setup actually is. I managed a 1.53.884 The biggest difference I noticed was that with the TC on is that you really need to trust it. It takes a different mindset to just mash the gas pedal asap, but that is what is required to get speed out of the corners, but the tc is so restrictive that you can see my ghost pull away on every corner exit.

Your certainly not slow @moodyryder there's only a difference of 0.6 seconds between our laps, well done!
And eXistenZ showed us that track temperature alone could be worth 0.6 seconds. That's pretty impressive eh?

It turns out my setup isn't a whole lot different than stock so I will try fiddling with the setup I posted again and see if I can get closer to eXistenZ

The difference is more like 0.4 sec with this car. Some cars profit more from low temps. Here not so much. Maybe I will give it another go to get those 2 tenths back.
    Nice improvement btw ;)

I had thought that the temperature difference that mattered in this case was the ambient, i.e. air, on the basis that cooler air is more dense and thus the engine power is higher (but there's more drag at high speed too). Might need to try an apples vs. apples comparison to be sure... :)

It’s great to take 4 tenths out of a corner just to see it bleed away on the next. Needs special set of skills to drive quickly that I am still working on.
Kinda happy with my progress though did solid 1.58 for a few laps, stopped checked the settings , watched the vids , went back with some consistent high 1.55 then found a sweet spot in lap.
Really have trouble particularly with the tight left turn 3 , nothing a bit of DOWNFORCE wouldn’t fix !!
    Lol

    Nice combo.

Ps I appreciate the time taken to write the intro and selection of cars etc. And don’t want to sound unappreciative, but can you add weekly hot lap into the title next time ? I had trouble finding this one.. sorry.

Thanks again for setting it up though:)
