1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Is FOV only half the equation?

.. before I started using the dash cam view and I used the cockpit view I would use roughly ~ 10%

I started with 20 and then went up to 35. My sweetspot will be in between... something between 25 to 30.

Firstly, don't selectively quote half a sentence.

Secondly, you seem to be 'well informed' as to what forums are all about - is there an /ignore function on this message board, as I'd like to add you to it.

    Edit: It's ok I found it. Bye o/ :).

At the same time I am not saying that you can't have yours, of course you can, it's just that I found this particular one being worthy of taking a look on ;):D[/QUOTE]

We can certainly agree on the first half of this quote - as for everything else you said, my opinion is that 'your' opinion is a load of rubbish.

Are you the 'Tortellini' that is frequently gobbing off on 'Gamermuscle' Youtube channel? If you are, then I absolutely know your opinion is usually invalid ;):D.

Im on a 55" with also about 80-85 cm eyes to screen. The FOV is correct, but it feels off because the screen is somewhat to big giving abit of a dwarf effect, ie the steering wheel on screen is way big. Around 40-45" is perfect for 1:1 size, and the correct FOV will feel better. (But you cant beat screen real estate if you also play flight sims ;) )

Hmmm, screen size shouldn’t matter if FOV is calculated, on both occasions, because it’s always the same size picture, it’s just that on bigger screen you see more of that picture

    This.

The only thing that should affect the size of the wheel is the distance of the screen.

Yes and this is exactly how it should be done - set correct FOV and then adjust distance so that the RL hands and wheel match the virtual ones.

Or keep the distance close if you prefer that and optionally turn off hands/wheel if they are gigantic and get in the way.
Mathematically correct FOV (plus/minus a small interval of personal preference) is what matters most I think.

If the fov is set mathematically correct and the screen positioned so that the virtual steering wheel and hands are behind your own, both should look pretty much the same size. (As long as your hands are "normal" size..) The distance to screen doesnt make a difference in that, sure they are bigger the further the screen is but also you are looking at them from distance.

    BrunUK Alien

Err, no. The distance to the screen is an integral part of the calculation, you can't move it afterwards.

When you say the RL hands and wheel should 'match' the virtual ones, what do you mean? The ones on screen should always be larger to some extent, because the screen is further away.

Not the distance between driver and screen. The "distance" setting in ACC. I use it so that optically, from where I sit, my own hands are the size of the virtual ones.

Yes, this means that if I walk up to the screen and measure the virtual hands, they are bigger than mine. I think we are saying the same thing.

How much should we actually move back the distance setting though? As that strictly speaking moves the head/eyes of the driver, correct?
And it seems it doesn't really take a high value until it moves "into" the pillow, so to speak. :)

It all really depends on the seating position in your simrig and is hard to adjust, try to look with the free camera where is the virtual driver siting in the car and compare it to where you sit (closer or further from your own wheel compared to virtual driver further or closer to his virtual wheel) ,
If default settings are right inside his head you can then adjust settings of distance and height accordingly,
Also take to account that steering wheel in those race cars arn’t that small and usually have sth above 30cm and hands in gloves will just appear a bit larger than yours,
I sit quite close to my wheel and I remember that with correct FOV I needed only very small adjustments and my 30cm wheel and my hands were completely covering virtual ones to the point I wasn’t sometimes noticing them almost like they were turned off :)

I even managed to achieve such effect with my old Logitech MOMO that is a very small wheel
