1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Generic WHL 177 Standing on the shoulders of Giants

Welcome to the thread for WHL 177.

    Porsche 911GT3 RS.
    Spa.

    20200502_163438.jpg

Sergeant William Henry Robinson died in 1917. He was 23 years old.

Recently married, he never met the son who grew up to be my grandfather.

He is one of 35,942 names remembered on the Arras Memorial, men who have no known grave.

Every May my father & I make the pilgrimage to northern France to pay our respects. Unfortunately this year circumstances will prevent this.

There are no French circuits in console AC. Spa is probably the nearest, in a country equally synonymous with the Great War.

So, after TW, LG and myself played this combo online last week, I figured this forum was a place where I could tell William's story; an unlikely corner of the internet where he may be remembered.

It is fitting that this is a German car. Those ordinary blokes from Berlin and Dusseldorf deserve to be remembered too.

    ---

So here it is. Did you ever hear the one about the American, the Englishman and the Scot who went for a Spa weekend? Well, it went a little bit like this...

By the way, this is the board from WHL 65. Porsche 911R/Spa. The GT3RS is faster.

  3. That's an extremely touching and poignant intro Moody.

    Very well said.

Great intro! And great to hear your story @moodyryder . I am actually interested in WW2 and also WW1 topics, visited many memorials across Europe myself. I cannot image how war must feel like, surely I got very emotional when visiting Auschwitz last year. May this never happen again.

Fantastic combo. Will be glad to revisit.

Thanks for sharing the story of your great grandad, @moodyryder - touching indeed. And we think we have it tough right now...
As for this combo, wow, struggling to figure out how Philippe could have managed a 2:33 in a slower car :-S
I think I must be leaving about 5 seconds on the table but damned if I can figure out where they are. For a high powered car it's a wee bit ponderous - had a hell of a time persuading it not to understeer (conduct unbecoming of a 911!). Let's see what setup tips the fast people can produce :D

    Quick run out to enjoy.
Stock and no attempt to sort tyre pressures yet.
As @Neilski says, generous understeer at the moment, but I think this is 2/10ths faster than our race evening:)

Well, I'm glad to see the times aren't dramatically faster than WHL #65! :)
To my surprise, the tyre pressures didn't even need a tweak - they started a wee bit high but settled down to exactly the nominal levels. They wear down disappointingly quickly though, given how rubbish the grip levels are!

I'm near-clueless about setup, so this should be treated with a pinch of salt: I dropped the height to minimum and front ARB to 0, went to neutral toe on the rear and negative (actual) at the front, slightly more camber on the front, TC off and tweaked the fuel.
I expected to be able to drop the wing to 0 (or whatever the minimum was) but when I tried, I couldn't keep it on the road! Anything lower than 3 was slower for me...

Pretty much stock besides (tire pressure / fuel and rideheight 12) but she understeers. You really need to wait before going on the power.

So, as promised. Did not forget to take a screenshot this time ;) . I drove the last WR in 2018 I think with a 2:33:013 or so. Now I improved by 1.1 seconds on my 6th lap. Eau Rouge can be taken 0.1 seconds faster. Lost 0.1 seconds in the last chicane. So theoretically, a 2:31:6xx is possible. It is planted like a GT3 car, so position it and justr hit the gas. I went for 1 ARB front, 2 back. -2 camber front, -2,5 at the back. Toe 3 back and 0 ride height. As pointed out here, don't take off too much wing.
