1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Welcome to the thread for the Weekly Hotlap Challenge 180.

Sounds like an exciting cocktail that could send you into a spin?
    You could be right.

    Challenge
    Hotlap:
    Car: Audi S1 and/or BMW M3 e30 Step 1
    Track: Monza 1966 Junior Circuit

Blue flavoured Pepsi, or red and white Coke? Audi FWD vs BMW RWD. I know that each brand has a vocal and loyal following but I think we might be able to surprise some people this week. Both of these cars are capable of quenching your thirst for speed in exactly the same amount of time on this short and sweet track.
Who's up for a little blind taste test? Don't worry, I expect you to go on track with your eyes wide open, but there is a blind corner...

Setup options are fairly minimal on these cars so we should be able to concentrate turning smooth and consistent laps.

Its gonna be interesting to see how many people will be able to accurately predict which car/drink they think they like best or will be fastest in, vs what the laptimes say is the best. I like coke and I like rwd, but will the laptimes prove that to be the case?

Please vote in the poll before you post your laptimes so we can compare and contrast the results. You won't be able to change your vote so make sure you vote correctly!

I am a sucker from fwd racecars because of the supertourers and my favorite brand ever > Peugeot

Since that is not on the list I'll go with the Audi even if I prefer the Beemer by a mile. Very interesting to see how this'll work out.

    I confess.
I was hugely tempted to sandbag the Audi, especially running it after the BM.:D
However - I preferred the BM, am fastest in the BM and I answered the question correctly!
    Phew.
Of course it may be different by the end of the week. The Audi goes well.

Can't wait to give them a go ;). Surely the BMW is faster, the Audi is somewhat slow in AC.

Although I am facing issues with my Fanatec gear for a while now. There are shifter issues(e.g. I select 3rd gear, but it goes into 1st and engine goes KABOOM), pedal issues (4% brake input sometimes, throttle onlys goes to 90%) and Wheelbase issues (Wheelbase randomly disconnecting in game and steering wheel turn to the right). Especially great when you are in a race eh? Most issues come and go, but this is really not acceptable in this price range. Of course there are plenty of other people with same issues, but Fanatec support in this case is terrible (e.g. have you tried installing new drivers...wow) and even after a RMA for the shifter, the issue came back after a year. Great in terms of driving, but reliability of Fanatec products really is a major LETDOWN. I never had such issues in years of use with my G27.
Enough said, I also started practicing for GT3 as I will be taking part in the ADAC Simracing League this summer. So I have a training scheduled to make the best of it ;).

I have some serious trouble with the Audi. It could have some better suspension and a gearbox that actually pulls. It feels so slow at times.

The BMW is just great to drive. Its brakes need a bit more road to stop the car but it makes up for it in sheer drivability!

Yes and no lol. We will be fighting for tenths of a second, but learning how to get those few tenths is how you will improve your overall race I.Q. The setup is quite basic but it still has an effect so its worth trying all the settings to see what works best. Monza Jr. is such a short course that you will quickly be able to decide if a setup change was beneficial or not.

Goodgame was able to improve over 2 tenths with a little motivation from Mustang. I'd call that fairly significant considering both of the had already gone 59.6 which is faster than the wr.

Pitting an old race car against a modern street car wasn't necessarily a fair fight when we are comparing performance on a track. But the times were so close on the RSR boards. The thing I didn't notice right away but @P308R did, is that the previous WR holder did about 450km's in the Audi to get under 1 min. But he only did 11km in the BMW to set the same time.

In the end I suppose it will take a motivated and skilled person to be faster in the street car than the race car. Who would have guessed that? :p

If I'm reading your graph right, amazingly consistent, lap 29 is where you peak, but what happens to you on Lap 19?:D
