1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Remotely Manage Rack Service Server with GUI?

    Hi Folks,

I signed up and got a Rack Service server for ACC using the discount code as advertised here:

    https://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/...a-competizione-game-server-with-10-off.24649/

I see a couple of very talented and kind folks here and at Race Department have released software which manages all of the config json files with a nice slick GUI instead of manually opening files and changing things only to have problems later because of a typo or missing quote symbol.

    https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/acc-dedicated-server-gui.32034/

My question is, can I use their software to manage all of my ACC config files on the Rack Service server that I'm renting space from? If so, could someone kindly walk me through how I would set this up? Thanks in advance for any and all help provided.

    Roger

I put in a ticket to Rack Service with this question. Here’s their reply:

“Im afraid that is not possible in a game server. This would be possible in a VPS or Dedicated Server.”

Oh well, back to manually editing my server cfg files...

I have a rackspace server and had the same quandry. Turns out you can use the app you linked to (acc-dedicated-server-gui.32034) to create the config files, then just use an FTP client to upload the files when you make changes.

You just use your server host as the FTP address (managerdc14.rackservice.org, for example) and your username and password to connect.

It's not as seamless as having FTP integration in the app, but it works well enough.

look up connecting with windows 10 FTP. I now have a network location on my PC and update files without the Web browser but via windows explorer.

I would need some guidance on the FTP part of the equation. I haven’t used an FTP application in at least 30 years. It’s been quite a long time...

Interesting timing on this thread - I was just starting to look into renting a server for hosting MP races, and was wondering what were the decent offerings.

@FriendOfJah is the service provided by Rack Service decent?

Am half tempted to rent a standard Windows server from them and then write a web front end in .NET for controlling it...

Hi TurboTomato - I'm pleased with the service they provide for me. For less than $5 a month for unlimited 16 car slot online multiplayer racing, it meets my needs. I hope this helps.

Right so you've answered one of my questions - the number of 'slots' refers to the maximum number of cars on the grid (in other words the maximum number of connections the server supports)?

In which case I'd probably go for a few more than 16.

You can definitely go with more slots, it will just cost more per month.

I've had a quick look and they're not much more per month :D

Just thinking whether it's worth getting a plain old Windows host and doing it myself, if it's a similar cost. I can then cobble together my own web front end for it.

Doesn't need to be a windows host.

I dockerised the server and mounted the config files as a volume to the host (just made it easier for now to edit the files and a shell script to quickly stop and start the container. Runs just fine on one of my Debian droplets at DigitalOcean and cheaper than a windows server =)

    Cheers..

Hi Ian (that’s my middle name). What you did sounds amazing, but it seems way too complex for me to grasp. Man...do I feel really old and outdated.

    Hi mate..

By "dockerising" things, I just made a container (think of this back in the day as a virtual machine). It runs a very light version of Linux inside it (Alpine) that I installed Wine into (used for executing windows binaries on a Linux OS).

The config files reside on my main server (the host) and are then mounted as a volume into the container so it has access to read them. The reason I did this is for persistence (else if the container is destroyed/updated, I'd lose any of the changes I'd made).

The reason I containerised the server was that it meant that I didn't need to "polute" my Linux server with Wine and any other dependencies that might be needed to run the windows ACC server. The server it runs on is mainly used for my Gitlab instance for my code repos and build pipelines.. I run the ACC server for myself and bro-in-law to play on.

Then there's a few wrapper scripts (start-acc-server.sh, restart-acc-server.sh, stop-acc-server.sh) for convenience that just saves me typing out a bunch of commands.

As for old and outdated... I feel like that too sometimes when all the kids at work are trying to introduce the latest weekly javascript framework to our dev stack =D

    Cheers..

    Ian

Just as an aside the guys responsible for Assetto Corsa Servers are working on an ACC solution, but no ETA at the moment.

The one my ACC server runs on is a $40 a month droplet.. but that's mainly due to running my code build pipelines for my dev work.. not tried it on a smaller droplet yet.. will try and grab some time to test it on one of my others out of curiousity =)

    Cheers..
