1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

AC: BMW M235i Racing at the Highlands Drift circuit

This week the Assetto Corsa Challenge is courtesy of Neilski, one of the WHC’s longest playing and most esteemed contributors, and boy, have we had a chuckle!
Neilski, according to himself, is a great fan of road cars, he would like to choose a road car …and so he has chosen this combination.
Having had a quick test, without checking the car’s details, it immediately struck me that this is, most very definitely, not a road car!! My slight query and the ensuing conversation was hugely amusing!
But, it is very excellent. Very, very excellent.

    As Neilski says;
“So... yeah, I think of this as a road car. (ed: LOLS!) It kinda looks like a road car. Turns out though that it isn't (quite) a road car. (ed: LOLS!) The "Racing" in the name could be a clue. (ed: LOLS!) The roll cage and the slick tyres might also catch the eye. But whatever it is, the way it handles is just a delight. Feels great to throw it around and it is so very well behaved, but with so much grunt as well.
It's a lot like a road car on the inside too - it may be short a few seats but the ventilation controls (and hazard lights!) are still there.;) (ed: LOLS!!)
So many gears to choose from, but you won't find yourself needing 7th unless you find a very, very long straight (and hit 150+ mph). 8th is umm, good for saving fuel (maybe while driving down the motorway!)
Oh, and you can do handbrake turns in it. So it must be a road car! :D
As for the track choice, I once raced this car here (over 2 years ago now) and I think they make a lovely pairing - the car is fast enough that you have to lift on a few tasty corners, which keeps things challenging. I had totally neglected this track for years because of the "drift" in the title, but once I tried it, I loved it. Enjoy!”

This challenge is very rewarding. You’ll need to dial into the grip levels. Couple of laps at least and if you’re like me, your eyebrows will be somewhere up near the ceiling in surprise! The lack of slack means you have to be precise and smooth, and yes, you could have gone a bit faster through that corner. Much faster in fact!
I hope you find the challenge as much fun to drive as it was to set-up!
My big thanks thanks and appreciation again to Neilski!

We need to name the corners… please submit suggestions!

ACC: Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 at the Brands Hatch GP circuit

As now established, the ACC Challenge this week is chosen by Graveltrap, the winner of WHC188, Tuscan Red and the Pink Surprise.
A 15 minute, wet session at Brands Hatch, in an Aston Martin.
    upload_2020-7-25_17-56-21.png
On the first day we got ACC, comments were exchanged on PS4, so I know Graveltrap’s first drive was in the Aston at Brands Hatch. This challenge was always coming….
And his inspiration for the title?
    upload_2020-7-25_17-56-51.png
Nikki Thiim calls the V12 “the Old Lady” I seem to remember. The car is the oldest GT3 in the game! It screams! Oh and it’s a mildly moist day at Brands Hatch....”

So it is a mildly moist day for the Old Lady, which ramps up the excitement levels. Even more so, this week is WHC innovation! The challenge is a WHC world first. A wet session.
For me, it’s most fitting that Graveltrap propose the first WHC Wet session. He is one of the very originals, he stepped in to save the WHC in week two and kept it alive for the first year. He is the reason we are all here. And yesterday he unplugged his PS4! A new dawn, but we'll miss him on console! All the best!

This challenge is new and more slippery ground. I can’t offer you any experience because I’ve yet to try it myself. I suspect the wet tyres will provide surprising amounts of grip. I hope the wipers work better than the cake-candle-strength headlamps and I hope I don’t slide off at Clark Curve in minute fourteen out of fifteen!

Brands Hatch is in the top section of the top five world’s best circuits. It demands you have rhythm and pace, let’s see what it is like in the “Old Lady” when slippery!

    Tyres and Times?

    For Assetto Corsa
Recommended tyre pressure for both medium and hard compound Trofeo slick tyre is 27 psi.
The World’s fastest time is a 2.08.956. A sub 2.21 gets you into the top ten.

    For A.C.Competizione
    No data!
    upload_2020-7-25_17-57-58.png
EDIT: GT says: I believe pressure for wets should be around 30 psi

My bad for the wet session but as always with these things we should explore all the possible options the game has to offer.

Huge fan of British GT and have seen and heard the Aston at full chat numerous times, that V12 is a screamer! I also developed a bit of an obsession with making liveries for the old beastie in GT Sport.

The Aston is a little agricultural in comparison to current GT3 cars, the diffuser is just for looks and doesn’t make any real downforce, so it is not as pitch sensitive as the current cars. The TCS and ABS system are also older and not as efficient (just wait for your first lap). Getting the power down is going to be key, maybe those engine maps will be of use...

I believe pressure for wets should be around 30 psi

My first WHC was at Brands so another reason why it had to be...

I drove the seasonal event in the Audi, thinking it would be good practice. It kind of is, but I think the Audi has more grip in heavy rain as this does in mid rain.

    Fun car for sure!

The Aston started life in 2011! It’s a very different beast to the Audi, I guess it has been updated over the years, but it still lacks the aero performance of a current gen GT3.

Saying that it was still on the pace in 2018, I guess it got a good BoP because of its age ;)

For a first attempt I'm well chuffed with this effort. No spins or off track excursions throughout the 10 laps.

Having to pause the game on lap 7 between Sheene Curve and Stirlings to answer the front door probably didn't help though o_O

Know the track, hate the car, zero experience in wet conditions. This is gonna be messy!

First time in the Aston and first time hotstint for me. Man, the V12 is just awesome - a blast! So, setup stock, got faster each lap. As you can see there are 5-7 seconds still on the board - lots of potential.

Tip Toeing round for a banker time with standard wet set up

The last few laps I was looking for the "wet line" rather normal racing line which seemed to improve my times....I wonder if it's worth trying with a less rubbered in track setting? Gotta say the wet driving in ACC is the best I have come across in any sim.

Not sure what effect track rubber level has, but I'm almost certain I've read that the "wet" line isn't a thing in ACC (shame tho).

Yeah, also tried that - did not work it seems.

According to Aris it is....this is from the "Tyres - Oh it's raining" post in the physics section. Not sure if this applies if a session starts with a wet track though like this hot stint though...

Finally 1.33.xxx - love this sound, when i am typing this, replay of the laps is playing.... Luca did such an outstanding job. So much improvement possible, one puddle - not concentrated - and *swoosh* everything is gone.
Now MrGit - mixxed 2.40hours race - so much simracing to enjoy nowadays :)
And real racing in Imola today.

Hmm yes that dimly rings a bell too. Not sure if that means I'm talking nonsense or if it means that they intended to have this in the final product but haven't yet delivered it... I will have to have a go at this combo to see if I can tell the difference between the rubbered and clean bits of track!

Great fun, much easier to handle the car compared to the two previous stallions.

Just like said, as the track had "drift"on the title, I had never tried before. Fun to drive.

First run on medium tires, but they were getting hot, than swapped for the hard tires. Not sure which is best.[IMG]

Changed ECU mapping to 5 - seems to be better.

    Here from the blog:

    https://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/ecu-maps-implementation.54472/

    Aston Martin Vantage V12 GT3 8 levels
    1-4 dry maps.

    • 1 fastest high fuel consumption
    • 2 a bit slower, normal fuel consumption, aggressive throttle map
    • 3 a bit slower, normal fuel consumption progressive throttle map
    • 4 slowest, less fuel consumption, progressive throttle map
    5-7 wet maps
    • 5 similar to dry 2&3 map, normal fuel consumption with slightly progressive throttle map
    • 6 a bit slower, less fuel consumption and progressive wet throttle map
    • 7 identical to 6 with more progressive throttle map
8 Pace car very slow map and low consumption for Pace Car situations

After some laps its like magic, same brake point, same puddles, same countersteer... :)

Is 4 more progressive than 5?

  21. sissydriver

    sissydriver Alien

@Tony212 - seems like there are:

    • normal (1)
    • aggressive (2)
    • slightly progressive (5)
    • progressive (3,4,6)
    • more progressive (7)

    So
    4 vs 5 is
progressive vs slightly progressive --> the answer seems to be yes (how much the difference is - i dont know)

Maybe Aris forgot to write for the wet maps that they are all .... wet throttle maps.
For 6 he did it, 5 and 7 there is the word "wet" missing.
The difference is maybe more than i thought. Lets ask him in his next stream (hopefully tuesday).
