1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Generic Weekly Hotlap Challenge 217 – Highlights from one hundred

Discussion in 'Console Lounge' started by Totall Wrytoff, Mar 6, 2021.

  1. Welcome to the Weekly Hotlap Challenge 217 – Highlights from one hundred
The 217th WHC is a two week challenge featuring three highlights from the last one hundred Assetto Corsa WHCs plus GT3 and GT4 Assetto Corsa Competizione 30 mins Hotstint challenges.

    Assetto Corsa Hotlaps
WHC217 marks the 100th WHC that I’ve posted, so we are re-running three Challenges - my first ever, daunting at the time and the two most popular single week challenges. Oddly, these last two were just a week apart, early on in my posting and we’ve gone downhill ever since! The challenges are:
    AC1st: Highlands Short – Ford Escort RS1600
    AC2: Laguna Seca – Lotus 72D
AC3: Spa Francochamps - Maserati Quattroporte GTS

    AC 1st
WHC 103 - “Àth na Crà Twin Cam ceilidh at the Drift Inn”

“Ford Twin Cam party at the Drift Inn”
    upload_2021-3-6_17-55-54.png
    Nov 11, 2018 - The first WHC I posted.

    - Àth na Crà (Ford) is a small village at the southern end of Loch Awe in Scotland.
    - Ceilidh, (pronounced “kay-lee”) is Gaelic for “a party.”
The Drift Inn is on the left, opposite the ruins, three quarters of the round the track. It looks by far the best of the pick of the local pubs. One of them actually has an ambulance parked outside!
    upload_2021-3-6_17-56-50.png
The RS1600 was hand-built at Ford’s Halewood plant, (then rebuilt by everyone who used it apparently.)

Our hot Escort is a screamer. Turn her up to full and it sounds mechanically painful. It is the raucous Cosworth FVA Formula 2 Ford engine -1598cc, 16 valves, twin overhead camshafts and 218–225bhp at a screaming 9000 rpm.

Here’s how our current players finished at the time:
    (1st 0.52.166 pctm PC)
    3 - 0.52.299 Lewisxbone XB1
    4- 0.52.382 F1415182235 XB1
    5- 0.52.713 Pretend racer PC
    7- 0.54.130 Total Wrytoff PS4
    8- 0.54.333 Moodyryder PS4
    9- 0.54.786 Laughing Gravy PS4
    10- 0.55.814 Sissydriver PC

You will be busy behind the wheel. It’s slippery on the cobbles and very slidey everywhere else!

    AC 2 - WHC 116
    “Black and Gold”

Feb 17, 2019 - 20 players and 148 replies. The most popular single week WHC, since 103.

The Lotus 72D is one of the most remarkable and successful car designs in F1 history. Colin Chapman took the stressed 3 litre, V8 Ford-Cosworth DFV from the Lotus 49 and added advanced aerodynamics to produce a car that was years ahead of its rivals.
His deft engineering meant the 72D could get through a race, but not much further – he’d been quoted as saying “Any car which holds together for a whole race is too heavy.”

He also said the best driver was not necessarily to be the quickest over a single lap, but the one who raced most intelligently. Hmmm.
Most drivers would like to get to the finish.

No idea why this challenge was so successful, but I’m guessing it’s down to the 72D. Out of twenty drivers, here’s how we finished:

    (1- 1.20.970 pctm PC)
    3- 1.21.636 Pretend racer PC
    5- 1.22.577 F1415182235 XB1
    6- 1.22.730 Lewisxbone XB1
    7- 1.22.985 Total Wrytoff PS4
    9- 1.23.343 mike reynolds PC
    11- 1.23.389 Moodyryder PS4
    13- 1.23.920 StyleF1re PS4
    15- 1.24.138 Sissydriver PC
    16- 1.24.374 Laughing Gravy PS4
    17- 1.24.998 365gt PS4
    18- 1.25.437 Emmanuel Tubbiolo XB1
BTW, at the time we found that Tyre Wear OFF might be slighter faster for this challenge

I know it is Laguna Seca again, but this is such a brilliant car to drive. A quote from @moodyryder sums it up nicely: “Great challenge this one. I must have done a hundred laps all told.”
    Wow!:)

    AC 3 – WHC 118
    “Mechanical symphony without mechanical sympathy”

    Mar 3, 2019 - 20 players and a 25% above average of 90 replies.

This was also Round 1 of the WHC mini-series “The Family Man,” featuring cars that would be good for ferrying the wife and kids whilst putting a smile on the face of Dad.

The Quattroporte GTS is the top of the range, flagship Maserati and easily the biggest, most powerful, fastest saloon they have ever built. Except that it was built by Ferrari.
It weighs just less than two tonnes, without the family and luggage and is powered by a 3.8 litre, turbocharged V8, which gives just over 520bhp at 6500rpm and a tyre-shredding 524lb/ft of torque from just 2250rpm. Watch out for that!

At the time, I thought a trackday at Spa in one of these would easily use two sets of tyres, trash the front brakes and drink fuel like a Saturn V. Estimated cost for tyres brakes and fuel would be a minimum of £4,500. During the thread, having looked at tyre wear, I upped this to £8k. The Street Tyres were lasting six laps, which is nearly 26 miles…

Out of twenty, here’s how we finished:
    (1- 2.46.669 Andy-R PC)
    4- 2.48.139 Pretend racer PC
    5- 2.48.932 F1415182235 XB1
    7- 2.49.138 Lewisxbone XB1
    8- 2.50.296 Moodyryder PS4
    10- 2.51.043 Total Wrytoff PS4
    12- 2.51.307 Laughing Gravy PS4
    14- 2.52.260 Emmanuel Tubbiolo XB1
    15- 2.52.508 Sissydriver PC
    16- 2.52.633 365gt PS4
    17- 2.52.785 StyleF1re PS4
    20- 2.54.590 mike reynolds PC

Without family and luggage, the Quattroporte is a heavy barge. Even so, around Spa, for those with the skill, it is rapid and has a nimble side to it. For those more like me, it is much less so.

    AC Tyres and Fastest Laps:
    Recommended operating pressures:
    * Ford Escort RS1600 - Vintage GT70s - 37 psi all round
    * Lotus 72D - GP70 Soft and Hard compounds – Front 27 psi, Rear 28 psi
    * Maserati Quattroporte GTS - Street – 38 psi all round

    Fastest Laps:
    - Highlands Short: 0:51.581 on RSR
    - Laguna Seca: 1.20.970 by @pctm in WHC 116, Feb 24, 2019
    - Spa Francochamps: 2:46.516 on RSR

The Ambient Temp for the all of the challenges was set at 26Deg C, so with the current Free Choice, times should be beatable for those who originally took part.

    Let’s see!

We are off to sunny Barcelona for two weeks and we have a pair of V8s, one GT3 and one GT4 spec. Barcelona is a great track in a fantastic setting and I’m personally very grateful and possibly only still here due to the large gravel pit at Turn 1.

The Emil Frey Jaguar G3 is not an F-Series as I has expected, but an XK, from 2007! To my eyes it looks suspiciously similar to the Maserati 3200 Coupe of 2001:
    upload_2021-3-6_17-58-27.png
The Jag XK weighs 1,240kg and is powered by a 4.2 litre, supercharged V8, limited to 475bhp. Emil Frey retired it and replaced it with a Lexus for the 2018 season.

The Aston GT4 weighs 1350kg and has a 4.7-litre, naturally aspirated V8, but this is limited to less than 400bhp, around 10% less power than the road car. The engine, the N420, which was introduced in 2005, was described as “long in the tooth,” in a review of the road car in 2012.
In December 2020 cash strapped Aston announced the withdrawal of its factory GT teams, although it will continue to “support” customer cars. Presumably, using what it can find in the back of the broom cupboard.

    Recommended Tyre Pressures:
Ideal GT3 dry slick operating pressures are between 27.4 psi and 28.0 psi
Ideal GT4 dry slick operating pressures are between 26.3 and 27.2 psi

    I'll start then.
A few laps to get the tyres right, then this warm up session with default set-up and I'm only a tenth off my 103 time.
Aiming for mid 52s this time round.:)
Compared to last time, I'm using the recommended FOV and have a Fanatec wheel. Those should account for two secs!

Starting with the Maserati. I do have a small crush on this car. Despite being so heavy it drives so nicely. Once you get used to its weight it is a lot of fun throwing it into the corners - well balanced overall and very easy to find the limit. With its high power output you can drift it nicely to.

Btw. the current fastest time for the Escort was made by sliding along the barriers through T1. The sector time for T1 is extreme, while the rest is medicore. So fastest legal time is 51:757 : )

On PC, I think it was part of the Dream Pack 3 DLC, which also added Brands Hatch. And if it’s the ultimate edition on console, then it was definitely included in the 178 car list in the Classic Lotus selection - not the Lotus selection.

I just don't like Formula cars. The FFB always feels dead to me on any F1 car - like I am driving a piece of wood. Maybe except for the vinatge cars.

That’s strange, do you have access to the Type 98T, Type 25 or Type 49 - they are part of the same group in Classic Team Lotus?

Ah I love the Jag, but it got pretty sketchy for the last 10 mins or so as the tyres started to wear and the track cooled.

Question for ACC players on Console, are you able to view your best lap time in a hotstint session?

The newest of the 4 cars you can select is the 1986 Type 98T, which was actually designed for Lotus by Ducarouge and Ogilvie and raced by Senna and Dumfries.

On the Lotus 72, in its earlier C configuration, and de-winged for Monza practice, it took Jochen Rindt‘s life. The only posthumous world champion. I also think, but will need to get this confirmed by my friends at Lotus, it was the first Lotus to don the infamous Black and Gold livery being repainted for 1972 from the previous red, white and gold.
