1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Are the Special events even possible?

Not seen anything like that on the console, although I have noticed certain career races have lower grip levels.

Only looked at the GT3 hot laps so far, as they are my sort of thing. A little more variety would be nice though, three GT3 hot laps are at Silverstone GP.

Silver at Monza with the Lamboorghini Huracan GT3, and just made Silver at Silverstone with the Audi R8 GT3 so within a second of the gold target on those tracks

For reference, Gold at Monza is 1:49.00 and Silverstone 2:02.00.

It's refreshing to see some challenge in a racing game these days, I am sure with a bit more time spent understanding the physics and how setup is working I will get there eventually...I hope...Maybe...

The track temps and grip level are set on the console version and cannot be changed in Hotlap, much the same as the PC version - there is no option to adjust track grip on the PC for Hotlap either so I assume it would be set at optimum.

Be interesting to see how you get on with the F40 Stage 3 - that 1.56.500 looks like a stretch to me. Top of the RSR livetiming 599XX laps are in the 1.44s so that looks more reasonable.

It would be interesting to hear from the devs if this was a conscious decision to make the Special Event times tougher. They devs are usually so clear with changelogs and updates that I thought they might have explained this choice. If this is a decision to increase the console challenge times based on the average times they see people posting then fair enough. I'm guessing you've already seen my posts about the differences in AI levels and lap times and as a result so far I'm not convinced that much logic has been applied to the console version.

you can change track grip in Hotlap mode but I think you mean in the Special Events.

true, not on the console, but I wasn't aware of the fact, that the times differ

Like I said earlier from those events I've tried in past weeks/months I always see grip level at 95-96%. So it's what they called a "slow" preset on PC that you can set in all other modes except career and special events. It looks like they decided to use optimum (100%) on consoles so they redid the time goals too.

Anyway I did couple laps in the M3 and F40 S3 combo that you showed the pics of @MBK72. I already had all of them done on gold, including the 599 but since there's pretty much no time difference (0.2s slower for gold is needed on consoles), I didn't bother with that one.

I've chosen an event from the list and then clicked on hotlap session to be able to change grip to optimum, didn't change anything else, cars were driven with all assists off except ABS set to factory (which means no ABS in the F40). I did 1:57.626 with the default setup in the F40 event, so 1.1s off. I think with more laps and some setup tweaks I could beat it, but it would need some effort.

Then with the M3 Drift I did 1:23.194 and that one is definitely doable as I already was on laps that were 0.2s faster but screwed up somewhere. It's a drift variant of the M3 so it needed some setup tweaks to make it more drivable.

I simply gave up on both of them, that's true, but I'm not as big of a fan of hot lapping as I was when I first got AC and back then MP wasn't even out yet.

All in all I think both of these events are doable with F40 being much harder to do than the M3. I'm not super fast, I know guys who would beat those events withing couple laps like it's nothing. But for an average driver like myself they are a nice challenge and when you finally get the gold it means something. < That is of course about the console version of those achievements with much faster times to beat but also more grip.

It's an interesting theory but the time of day - 14:00 and ambient of 22 degrees are the same on both PC and console. Where do you see the PC 95-96% grip levels in Special Events? I've presented the screenshots of times from both games as they stand. Until I hear from the devs I maintain that this is part of a wider difficulty balancing problem on the console versions that needs to be raised. If the answer is as simple as they added more grip on console then great let's hear it - if they did I certainly can't detect it or see it in the lap times.

Nice times and they are somewhat better than average times, look on RSR or use the in game AI, your times are both at 100% AI or Alien. I think asking new console players to achieve 100% AI and Alien times for Silver medals and -1 second again for gold is some ask, especially when most will be using a control pad rather than a wheel. I can see why console owners might be frustrated when they are used to a more graduated progression and unlock system.

Anyway enough of this, it's a lot of, ifs, buts and maybes so lets see when if we get some answers.

They might be faster than the AI but I don't know as I simply don't use the AI, by average I mean what I see in MP. There are lots of people that are faster than me.
It's not a theory it's a fact, looking at your screens. You can check grip once you load the event. If you have an app you can check what exactly is the grip level as in pits menu it only says 96 while it can be 96.0% or 96.9%.

Then looking at your screens from console version you can see that the grip is 100% in all 3 cases so I assume it doesn't change and it's always set to optimum. Which is not the case on the PC, where it's set to "slow".
And hotlap has nothing to do with AI, you either can beat a certain time or not. And it might turn out that even aliens will be let's say 2s off that time and then it just means that event is unbalanced and needs tweaking, not the AI.
*Yes I know that AI is faster on consoles, but it was already discussed in another thread, it's just that the AI has nothing to do with hot lap challenges*.

If someone is an alien and can be fast in anything he touches then he will do events like they are nothing (those that aren't bugged that is), if for some bronze it's a challenge that's also good. Good if they accept that they can't get gold after 1h of playing.

IMO those particular events that we are talking about here (E92 Drift and F40 S3) aren't unbalanced. Times need to be faster but you also get 3%-4,5% more grip than on the PC, if they would change grip to 100% without changing times there would be no challenge. Bronze might be challenging at the beginning but I think it's not something that will remain as unbeaten for a long time. I agree that for pad getting gold on these events will be very hard and not many guys will get it.

Like Stefano (main dev) said, AC is a simracing title and you can't have the same approach as for arcade/simcade games, you can't expect to win within couple hours of playing. It's not another game with flashy cars, you have to like that kind of challenge.

I think it would be nice to keep the discussion on those events that might be unbalanced/broken and compare them between consoles and PC. It should help devs find issues quicker and fix them too.

Thankyou for posting that. Some of those time differences are quite large. I'm far from the best driver out there but I consider myself
reasonably handy and I have a good wheel and pedal setup so when I do what I think is a pretty tidy lap check the time and see I'm upwards of 4 seconds off bronze it can be pretty frustrating.
I don't mind a challenge but there is a difference between challenging and ruinously difficult.
Like I said before maybe its just my driving:)

I've tryed 'german fury' the first event on ps4, time to achieve for gold is 1.23.000. After many laps I found the solution.
I use the t300. Don't mess with setting until the preset one is good enough until you put about 10 litres of fuel and don't try more than one lap to avoid tires get some overheating. Than before to start set the brake bias 2 click on the rear, should be 65% (factory abs), after turn 5 put back on the traction control, and put off again before the last turn. I needed to slight cut turn 9 and 10 but it's permitted.
May be another standard about difficoulty but it's possible, I had a quick look to 'flight simulator' also with the Pagani and that is going to be really hard, until the airplane is going to be driven without traction control if you want to get the 'alien' gold.
I failed to put music, I'm sorry about that, there's the example

I don't think this is the game for me.
No matter what FFB settings I try I can't get any feel at all and the braking is terrible.
    I'm taking it back.
I'm the third one of my friends to give up on it already.

You really ought to wait for the First patch that is in the works, i'm just concentrating on hotlaps and time trials for now.
