1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Translate for me AI % Strength to "Words"

    Hello Racers,

    Context :
In my neverending journey with AC (much love) i want to progress and so i challenge myself againt the AI. My logic is : don't change Car/Track combo (starting by the slowest/easiest/shortest) before beating the AI (finishing first in raceweekend). If i beat the AI i keep the cars and try another Track like some sort of custom championship. To track my progress i want to target specific AI% Strength.

    Question :
To choose AI% Strength to target i need to relate to real things which are relevant, like for example :
80% Novice racer / Very few experiences, no racecars driven
    ...
    85% Amateur racer
    ...
93% Average pro racer / Local series champion
    ...
95% Good pro racer / National series champion
    ...
100% Top end pro racer / World series champion

Thanks for your advices/commentary and proposals

    ???

Take a track, take a car, take an aI car, and race agauinst it at various AI settings. Then you know what times the AI produces.

    Dont make it complicated.

Maybe my post was not clear. I just want to evaluate AI % to say, ok if i beat AI at 95% that means my performance is decent. Until i can beat the AI at that level i don't want to switch to others cars/tracks because i want to retry until i'm a decent driver. You can think about videogame difficulty i want to find what is "medium difficulty". I think too it would be nice to compare it to real driver level like a national serie champion.

It's very relative to car. 95% AI is harder on high power modern race cars, than it is on very low powered Abarth. So there isn't any one %. Overall also if you "exploit" the fact that AI takes bad starts vs. if you start overtaking only after few turns, makes worlds of difference. They handle starts worse than rest of the race, and against high AI only time I will pass them is in the beginning, later maybe 1-2 cars and that's it

If you really care about this, you can race special events against "Hard" or "Alien" but same applies there, some are harder than others. I suggest just choosing something that is entertaining to you, and not worrying about it too much

I've recently raced GT3 AI at 97 +-3% and while I can slowly gain positions in the race, I can hardly move far away from the last position in Qualifying. Might be that my Soft tyre setup sucks, though.

At the start I can often gain some positions without being unfair and than it's an awesome fight for me. Did 15 laps at rbr the last time and it was over so quickly while fighting to move forward. Gained 3 Positions in the race IIRC, so I like the AI strength so far.

I also know, though that I'm slower than a lot of serious online drivers, who should be able to fight 100% quite well. Online I usually qualify in the rear mid field and from my public racing experience it's not even worth starting a race from there as it's litteraly impossible to get through the first lap without incidents.

That's a major reason for me to like the latest Patch with the AI update, it's really fun to drive with them now.

OP. Best you can do is run some Quali sessions against the AI and see what lap times they pump out and compare to what you are doing.

I've been tweaking a custom GT3/GTE championship and the first race is Barca. At 90% AI on a 24 car race I quali around 10-12 with a good clean lap, think I might be around 2secs off 1st place (no sniggering at the back ). So my challenge is to work my way reasonably into the top 10. This suits me at the moment.

All you can really take away is 100% is as good as the AI gets. I believe 80% is the lowest. Set your scale from there, doesn't matter what you call it, you are racing offline and you can't hurt AI feelings ;)

If you are actually wanting to use it as a gauge for 'how fast will I be' when you go online then forget it. Just race online and see. Half the battle is staying out of trouble and finishing the race, I do ok at this and though I'm not that quick and often quali at the lower end of a field I often end up in the top 10 (full grid) just due to attrition but the my lap times are nowhere near those ahead.

My understanding from what the devs have said iirc, is that the AI is extremly good at driving at the limit of the tyres adhesion without loosing time due to the car sliding, making them very fast when driving modern race cars, but this also makes them slow for old school cars which must be driven at a slip angle through corners to be really fast, which the AI can (currently) not adept to.
So what % relates to what performance will depend on which car you've choosen, and how their performance is scaled for each percent, only Stefano will know.
All I know for sure from what the devs have said, is that at 100% the AI is giving it all it got.

One more thing to mention is that the AIs always drive the same perfect line, and only loose time by braking earlier and driving under their limit through the corners (when set on less then 100%), while a human player most of the time is driving at the limit, but looses time by braking too late, not using the full width of the track, and driving less then ideal lines through corners.

If you find yourself having a hard time to keep up with the AI at low difficulty levels, my advise is to watch your line from the outside view, and, this helped me a great deal, watch the AIs drive.
Thanks to Stefanos unique approach to have the AIs use the player physics, you can learn by watching their braking points and lines.

Ok i get AI% isn't a constant reference point for learning depending on the cars.

    More precise question then :
What % for the AI for the :
    • BMW m235i racing
    • Porsche GT4 Clubsport
    • GT3 cars
    Is a fair challenge ?

I don't want to be perfect but i don't want to switch from GT4 to GT3 and then GT2... before achieving a decent level of racing.

Right now with the BMW i consider myself a driver equivalent to AI at 93% depending on the track. Would you say it's a beginner level ? A decent level ? Should i beat 95% before going to the next class ?

I suppose the problem is the AI isn't like a person who starts off with no knowledge and gets better making less mistakes. The AI starts with all the knowledge and just goes slower at lower settings. Even at lower settings it's getting the lines right, braking at the right point, accelerating at the right point, but it's just doing those things slower. They don't directly compare to skill levels in people.
