1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Um...the average GT3 car produces more torque than even a Clubsport v2.5 base, let alone a DFGT. From what I've observed in the behavior of the steering characteristics, and have been told by several drivers kind enough to reply, the only sim wheels that properly mimic current FIA GT3 steering forces are DirectDrive systems. Anything under 8nm peak force just isn't behaving like the real thing, mainly because real steering forces are not as limited to what peak forces they can relay to the driver. Your DFGT/Clubsport type wheels all can come close to road cars, that's about it.

    Sounds unlikely to me. Sources?

Come on, you can do better than that.

  3. I have asked Ryan Eversley (factory Honda GT3 driver) this question before (on Twitter) and he answered that his GT3 car has lighter steering than his street car. That was a couple years ago so I will ask him again, but not sure why you guys would think that endurance cars would have super heavy steering, especially considering that many of the drivers are doctors and dentists that aren't really into working out for hours everyday.
    --------------
I can make my T300 two to three times heavier than any car with power steering that I have ever driven; is power steering exclusive to the USA or something?

I wasn't aware that someone said that endurance cars have super heavy steering. I certainly didn't.

It seems that you take the answer of one single GT3 driver (comparing his race car to his unknown street car) from years back, assume that his unknown street car steering is like a DFGT and that the answer applies to any GT3 car with each setup. Then you state it as a fact.

Such a reasoning isn't worth much in a technical debate.

  5. Keep thinking that you need a multi thousand dollar wheel in order to experience 'muh realism'.

(that being said, I would love to buy a DD wheel if the day ever comes that I have more money than brains)

That german race driver, Seyfarth or something, who compared the various sims to RL on YT, said about rF2 GT3 cars, the steering felt way too heavy. He was using a G9xx if I recall correctly.
    Exactly my thoughts.

Jan Seyfarth seems to use csw2.5:

He also found default Iracing ffb gain too strong compared to what he is used in his AMG GT3.

Here Jethro mentions how light the steering was when he drove Aston Martin Vantage GTE:

RL driver tries to setup OSW in Iracing. The "realistic" value suggested by him was lower than DD wheel users usually set, mentions that the wheel shouldnt drive itself.

I guess too many sim racers think that modern race cars must have heavy steering, while it is adjustable as per driver requirements. Obviously you wouldnt want to be exhausted due to heavy wheel in a long race.

  8. By default rF2 have 1.00 ingame gain so that means a clipping circus with pretty much every wheel. For DD's with decent sized wheel rims the decent feedback will be around 30-40 percent. I think he's got CSW 2.5 which I guess would need something like 0.5-0.6 so yeah, by default the FFB level definitely does not make much sense.

The biggest trouble usually isn't the weight of the wheel but the spikes these linear force feedback methods are producing with more capable wheels. When driving standard power steered road car on track the feel through wheel is much more flat. It is not dead the same way as sim FFB when set very low but at the same time you don't get huge force build-up when getting some lateral load.

Its not so hard for someone to have more money then brains, many dont even need much money for this to be the case. :D

In my opinion, most of the simracers prefer a more heavy steering compared to real life, because this is the only feedback we normally get from our sim cars. In real life you can feel the whole car, so no need for an extra amount of steering force :D

  12. So does it translate like this when talking torque measured from the shaft?

    Midget: 7,1 Nm
    Lola T332: 6,4 - 9,9 Nm
    Viper 5,3 Nm
    Lotus 20: 4,7-5,2 Nm
    T190: 7 - 8,7 Nm

do people really believe only DD wheels can put out enough strentgh to be realistic? you honestly believe racers drive a race with their wheel giving that much force? it would be counter intuative for drivers to have such high steering force when trying to race

maybe it might peak when smashing a curb bad but i seriously doubt any driver would ask for their steering to be anywhere near that heavy

DD isnt necessarily about max force but speed of rotation due to the higher torque, also not clipping in any way so getting good feel through the range from the smallest bump to the tiniest loss of force at max load mid corner. Traditional wheels will quite often be clipping or very close to clipping mid corner at high load and you also lose the fine details. I have an accuforce v2 and I am nowhere near running it close to max force but it has good detail through the full range from tiny bumps through to curb strikes. The speed it reacts is another big feature where I dont think it actually makes you any faster on a typical hotlap in static conditions, but you can drive more reactively so it will be better close to the limit as the conditions are not optimal or as the car changes in a stint.

Its really a massive difference between a good DD wheel and the best non DD wheel where they really arent that different to say the logitechs other then they have more force, DD is way more then just more max force. Eventually this will filter down to consumer wheels.

There are/were race cars that have very strong force peaks and overall wide dynamic range of forces in steering wheels, that only DD can replicate, no doubt. Open wheelers like Indy cars or 80s formulas come to mind. Either way DD wheels provide way more advantages than just peak force.

Will I be able to turn off ABS and traction control completely, because that's how I love to drive.

You can in AC, why wouldn't you be able to in ACC? IRL it all depends on how the team sets it, both should be fully programmable in GT3's.
