1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

More abusive damage system (not visual)

If you wreck and damage a wheel or suspension, thats pretty much race over. Bit extreme but id like to see as a option along with gravel traps.

Indeed, realistic mechanical, electrical and electronical damage. I'd love to see that in ACC.
But also soft body damage as in Wreckfest. I really love realistic visible soft body damage. I know and understand that soft body damage is not a priority for many, many simracers but this simracers enjoys a lot when a race game has realistic soft body damage. I also know and understand that soft body damage is not important for a race sim and probably not going to be a part of ACC.

When I was a little boy, I use to put some my matchbox cars and other toy cars between a vise to simulate an accident. I think I'm still that little boy in this regard. :D
I tried Wreckfest and going to buy it, simcade or not. It is pure fun, that game and I love it.

Thank you for reading my rant, or childhood crap.

A realistic damage system will make drivers more careful too if they have something to race for. A wrecker can never finish a championship. One problem is that he can finish the championship for another driver but perhaps that could be handled partly manually via a protest system where mods can undo the damage of the pro driver while the wrecker gets a ban.
(I think Brioches KMR system should be working in collaboration with Minolin in ACC. Making crashes expensive would reduce wrecking even further)

IMO realistic mechanical damage should be an option, certainly for private lobbies and offline use, but, at the same time, I don't think it's the right move for all the official servers. Damage is frustrating and has the potential to ruin otherwise good races with small slip ups and issues. Just my personal preference but I'd use a modified damage model for most of the online racing, especially the sprints, where you can take small amounts of mechanical damage but it heals itself in a short time frame allowing you to continue racing but impacting you for a few seconds in a lap. Not very realistic but IMO a decent comprimise that discourages contact but isn't the frustrating, race ending contact brought on by a careless driver. I'd also prefer to say damage being weighted, with more damage when you hit someone from behind, provided they solve things like brake checking with the rating system.

I like that idea. I'm not sure how easy would be to implement. And depending on the severity of the damage the "penalty" could be different.

Wreakfest is a great game but you'll notice it kind of stands alone with it's visual damage, it's also not going to work with carbon fibre cars. The only game that has better damage is basically a tech demo and it's only reason for being is crashing into things. BeamNG. That kind of damage is going to take away from driving physics. It requires to much overhead that could be better spent elsewhere.

I'm totally confident we'll get fairly realistic mechanical damage, I don't expect to see visual damage any more detailed than in AC. And if you think about it that's all you'll really see on a modern race car, the panel cracks, or just falls off. It doesn't crumple, it just breaks internally and flaps about a bit. Anything worse than that and it's race over.

It's a typical situation in gt racing when you have damage on the bodywork that the tires get damage over time from it until bodywork gets repaired or the piece of bodywork falls.
I don't expect too much innovation in damage modelling in ACC let's see if they surprise us.
