1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

How many of u use RHM in ac? Would u love to see something similar in ACC? I know HMD users don't need it,but screen users could find it helpfull.

I never liked it. It probably just takes some getting used to but I always found it disconcerting when the screen would move and change where everything in the world was in relation to the car.. I found it easier to have a static head position and just guess where stuff off screen was. I was using the car as a reference so it didn't help losing reference points as the head would turn.

It does take time to set it right and to get used to it. Before i started using it i dissmised it like few times. Always felt sick after driving just few corners. And with cars what have like less then 540 was terrible, just movment of camera made me sick. But after alot of mesing with it I found myself sweet spot.

For the RHM-users, can you just give your most important settings (and what's the top reason to prefer RHM)?

  6. The top reason for me to use RHM is my single screen. I don't like the static view anymore.
The most important setting for me is the ratio of steering wheel input to the movement of the camera.

That yes, same in my case. To much L/R look on small steering lock is just to fast. My fov is 27,and i really benefit from it. Cos' soon as add steering it opens a little more on that side where u want to see more. I have litlle roll added, but without i could live. :)

    Long time RHM user.
Used it only for proper head movement smoothing but over time added minor look to apex that really helped in tight corners. Now can't drive without one. Single screen user.
CM also makes it launched automatically, making it feel like part of AC.
    My settings

IMO, any sim should have that.

Happy to give some input here @Minolin :

I literally cannot drive without RHM. But only for the real head motion part of it! Use a single screen (35" 1440p curved with real calculated FOV (42 deg) )

I don't use it for any look to apex or anything, just to make the world stay a bit more fixed and the car move around if you know what I mean, to simulate the self-levelling effect of your real eyeballs, rather than the world jumping around and the car staying still.

Also I like how RHM lets me easily bind look left right etc to my wheel POV hat which AC doesn't support, I could do it with Joy2Key but its much easier in RHM and it leaves the POV hat (sorry D-pad lol) free to be its default function, rather than binded to a random keyboard key that I have then set to look left /right etc.

And it is really easy to change the angles of look left / right, and there is additional over shoulder view for looking back more, again adjustable angle is great.

I have a BAT file that launches RHM (minimized) and AC in one go. The shortcut to it uses the logo from RHM so on my taskbar it just looks like the AC logo :)

    Code:
    cd %userprofile%\Documents\RHMAC
    start /min "" "RealHeadMotionAssettoCorsa.exe"
    start "" "steam://rungameid/244210"

I was a RHM user until I switched to VR.
Only had it on a subtle setting but it made a big difference when on a single 24inch screen with a close in FOV.

Had it enabled too in Project Cars which has it built in.

@Minolin Also long time RHM user, I actually don't need it for look to apex, as I have triple screen. Although I do have some look to apex. I just prefer how it overall looks/feels, to standard AC. Hard to put it to words, but it definitely feels better. I use settings 1:1 copied from @Fonsecker (dunno if he uses that anymore, but he posted it on some YouTube video of his and I've been using it ever since):

Edited: wording, since I'm not quite sure how to describe the feeling it gives. Anyway, it's better than AC standard view

    This.

The main reason I use RHM is that it doesn't work as look to apex in most games. It doesn't turn the cam unless you turn your wheel and that's what makes it great for me. The way you can customize it is also pretty cool.

Thanks so far. I need to get more precise in my question, please continue reporting but distinct between:

    - Any artificial head turning (look to apex, look "with wheel")
    - Car/Driver/Camera movement, shaking and filtering (lock to horizon, RHM))

Especially the head turning question isn't restricted to AC/RHM, there are many titles out there who have different solutions. I'm interested in what you use/like, basically just how V12 just posted.

I think how the camera behaves makes a big difference for the experience. Its also a matter of taste/perception, but it really helps if the camera roughly gives you the feeling like you would sit in a car. The go pro like camera thats fixed to the car is simply awful imo, but the standard camera locked to horizon view of AC and some other games feels floaty, cause there are no movements that are expected if you are a person in a car and it results more like a camera mounted to some mechanical device.
Gopro and floaty are both not very immersive imo, cause it just doesnt feel real.

Other than that, for those who care, you can influence how fast and dynamic it feels and you can compentsate for the lack of g-forces and limited view, which can make driving a gt3 car on Mugello for example not really exciting for some.
Anyway these two points can be overdone and lower the control of the car to a certain point.

The third point is the advantage of steering look which helps to see where you are actually goin. The big difference to an automatic look to apex is, that while the later can be pretty irrateting, cause it suddenly moves without any connection to your inputs, the steering look of RHM follows your wheel movements, so its not surprise if it moves and you can expect how much it moves based on your inputs.
The downside is if youre drifting and maybe countersteering, where its rather not what you want to happen.*

Edit: * Now that I think about it a button that deactivates it would maybe help.

RHM aims at filtering the head movement in a natural way, as I racing does or even GPL back in the old days.

The other features are not necessary.

So please @Lord Kunos, really please consider the natural filtering of head movement in ACC. @magicfr even proposed to share the code.

    Thank you.

I don't need to be convinced here :D
    Thanks for the detailed comment.

Not very interested in supporting drifting, but RHM currently would move your view when you countersteer even a bit? That's tricky to solve I guess, as you are absolutely right in your analysis. Starting to filter countersteering inputs may be confusing again.
