1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Will we see proper visual damage in ACC , detaching parts and such. ?
Please for the love of god make your collisions models represent the constraints of the visual car this time round..it is vital for online racing.

    Cheers
    Looking forward to it.

Sure, that would be cool and all, but “vital”? Really?

Yeah, I’m going to second the cool but certainly not vital thing. Shouldn’t be hitting people anyway :)

  5. Threads like this one just show how varied and numerous the things that need to be considered and then addressed actually are. That is something that I never really have thought about. A must have for some and added bonus for others I guess .

Maybe not vital for every person. certainly not the casual gamer . But for league racers who can run so close together, we felt it was and is..
I should mention I posted screens shots in the AC forum regarding the Collisions models and how far out they are compared to the visual model , thus collisions happened when they should clearly not have. Kunos did acknowledge this (thankyou again) and did address the issues somewhat in one of the updates, but not nearly enough from a league perspective.
But hey, its just 1 question and a request..

    Cheers

Proper response to contact between cars is needed as don’t want cars being thrown from light panel rubbing or small nudge which can happen now. Visual damage is far less important I think though. If parts are falling off your car in real life you would be forced to pit and probably retire. Only exception is maybe broken side mirrors, would like to see that but again not something I’d call critical

On the other hand the current high penalty for contact between cars may have forced people to race cleaner...

This highlights video the first 59 secs shows the sort of damage I would love to see , wishful thinking I know,, but would be cool to have some level of visual parts damage added to the race immersion. as you see not all cars retire from damage but certainly get handicapped..
Not sure if I'm allowed to link to video...apologies If not please delete.

    Vital for online racing...really.
You are meant to avoid contact you know?

For me your post rings the alarm bells.
Someone is only interested in the visual damage and to them it is vital...
Why would they be so obsessed with see in the car damage caused by contact they should be avoiding?
Sounds like a wrecker who gets their kicks from causing crashes and looking at the carnage, that would be the only reason for it to be VITAL to them IMHO

Tbh it plays a factor in endurance racing. Avoiding contact is always the goal, but even pros IRL have contact. I wouldn't go as far as saying vital, but preferably improvement over AC1 in both terms of visual detail and physics-wise. Nobody is expecting Wreckfest (I hope) but something more than AC1. Visual damage exact similar to AC1 wouldn't be a deal breaker, but it would be disappointing

Thank you glanders for your input, I believe you have misread my post as you are misquoting it.
I've not said visual damage is VITAL at all.. Yes It needs to be improved over what is In AC currently for immersion. not wrecking.
What I said is vital is the need for better collision models so we can race closer and not have these weird collisions when we are nowhere near the backs of cars as Serge M also alluded to.

Here's a link to my original post regarding collisions..which Kunos acted upon- note the fixed status. Unfortunately the pictures of the collisions models are no longer there.

I agree that an improved collision model is needed for ACC, because they aim for a far more competitive racing title than AC initially was. Regardless if it is on- or offline racing.

You could say that they also have an entirely new online model of how to rate drivers, incidents etc, and the aim should always be to avoid contact, but the way the cars and track walls absorb impact in AC is questionable, not very realistic and with crashes having highly unpredictable results regarding which way and at what speed cars are thrown around. Though, a big part of the issues online could be/is ping related.

That said, it's not a huge problem, but if looking at the aim of realism in ACC that Kunos has laid out, including collision/crash physics optimizations would be in sync with the immersion level they strive for.

We don't need parts flying off the car or softbody physics like Wreckfest.

I would also love to see a better/improved collision and damage model in ACC.
I do not except a damage model like in Wreckfest or BeamNG, of course. Something like Dirt4 - from a visual aspect (and not taking collisions into considerations, yet) - would be cool, though.
The car deforms after a crash and parts of the car can fly off. That would be more than enough for me in ACC.

Regarding collisions: I feel that contact in AC is too rigid - like the cars do not absorb impact. It would be superb if cars could go a bit more into each other - if you know what I mean.

I am very curious how Kunos will implement damage and collisions and I am looking forward to seeing some teasers.

I dont see problems with colision at AC. Physics seems ok. Maybe with simplifyed mat, because machine limits.

People must understand that the colision model is also a simplifyed version of the actual car model because of the same reason.

Só there always some inch diference here and there between the two models.

When you see collisions between carbon fiber race cars bits flying off is often the only real visual damage. Carbon fiber body panels seem to hold their shape pretty well even if they've been mostly detached. But seeing carbon fiber shards flying if you hit someone would look the part.

I hope that the damage system in online races can be set to be penalizing like in iRacing (your race is screwed when your car is too damaged/wrecked).
I'm not talking about the visual damage but a real damage system to punish overaggressive drivers and other dive bombers/wreckers.
iRacing is already working on an improved damage model (a video is planned very soon).

This and a good safety rating system like in iRacing.
The Sportsmanship Rating system in Gran Turismo Sport is interesting too.
iRacing has pretty clean races and it seems the same on GT Sport too (from what I heard).
Otherwise, online races in ACC will be mostly a pushfest/wreckfest with useless spectacular visual damage.

Of course physics effects of damage is far more important than any visual damage. But there should be still imo some improvement on both, while focusing on physics side

That's already in AC. You can pick up engine damage from downshifting too quickly or aero damage from crashes. Suspension damage is also possible and leaves you with an off-center steering wheel while going straight.

All of this will screw your race.

That it looks right. "looks the part" generally refers to people dressing a particular way. So a lawyer in a suit looks like we expect a lawyer to look. If he's in a tshirt and jeans he doesn't look like a lawyer.
