1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Generic Weekly Hotlap Challenge #121 – The Summer before love.

Discussion in 'Console Lounge' started by Totall Wrytoff, Mar 24, 2019.

  1. Welcome to the thread for the Weekly Hotlap Challenge #121 - The Summer before love.

This is also the Final Round of the second mini-series “The Family Man,” featuring cars that would be good for ferrying your partner whilst putting a smile on your face.

    The Challenge:
    Hotlap
    Car: Ford GT40
    Track: Silverstone 1967
    upload_2019-3-24_21-12-9.png
    upload_2019-3-24_21-12-28.png
This week we go back in time, thoughts of a family have not yet occurred and so, obviously, our car only needs two seats.
    upload_2019-3-24_21-12-50.png
Ford produced 105 GT40s between 1964-1969. The car came in many forms and with many types of engine.
Why does AC not denote the version of the GT40 we have in the game?

After some detective work I reckon the car we have as standard in AC is a Mark 1, but built in 1968, because the five speed gearbox was introduced that year and it is fitted with the 302 cubic-inch Ford small block topped with Gurney-Weslake aluminium heads, also introduced in 1968. In normal language that translates to a 4.9 litre V8 with 4 Weber carburettors and twin overhead valves per cylinder. It produced around 425-horsepower.

So why, if we had the Mark IV in 1967, why was the Mark 1 being produced again in 1968?
By 1967, the Mark II and IV had dominated Le Mans for two consecutive years, using versions of the 7 litre Ford big-block engine. To reduce the high speeds, the ACO (race organisers) capped engine capacities in 1968. So Ford returned to the Mark I (which used the 289ci), but increased its engine capacity to 4,942 cc (301.6 cu in) to meet the new rules.
By the way the car went on to win Le Mans in 1968 and 1969 too.

We’re taking it for a spin around the Silverstone Airfield perimeter circuit. This configuration as we have it in AC, was first used in 1952, but for some reason it’s called Silverstone 1967. It’s a test of spotting your brake and turn in points and being smooth. Getting it wrong results in bad things happening very quickly!

Paul Hawkins, an Australian privateer, raced his Ford GT40 AM GT-2 in the Player's Trophy 6hrs and the Martini Trophy Race at Silverstone in 1968. He got 3rd and 2nd places respectively. His GT40 AM GT, previously driven by Graham Hill and Jackie Stewart no less, used a standard '289' engine but with lightweight aluminium body panels and no sill covers to reduce weight. His best lap around Silverstone was a 1:31.600, which is not too shabby. His 289 had 400bhp and 450Nm compared to our 430bhp and 530Nm, but the car only weighed 840kgs against our 1025kg.
    upload_2019-3-24_21-13-41.png
You’ll need to shorten the gears, turn your engine limiter up to full and I hope you enjoy the noise this week!

The recommended pressure for front and back vintage tyres is 37psi with a wide temp range of 40 to 80.

How to take part - Hot lap:
To enter, select Drive > Hotlap, choose the Ford GT40 and Silverstone 1967 circuit. Please setup the session as shown below:
    Mode: Hotlap
    Time of day: Free
    Ambient Temp: 26 Degrees
    Setup: Free
    Controller: Free
    Assists: Free
    Stability: Free

To qualify for WHC you must have the ambient temp set to 26 DegC.

    Deadline: Sunday 31st March 2019 - 21:00 GMT.

You can run as many laps as you like and update your times as often as you like. It is all about taking part, testing yourself and enjoying Assetto Corsa. All Platforms are welcome.
To submit a time, pause the game and select 'session' from the menu and screenshot this page or take a photo of your screen and post it in this thread - Note all the information from the screen is required including temperature, mode heading and of course the car being used!

    Weekly Hotlap Challenge Championship League

    How it works:
    1. Enter the Weekly Hotlap Challenge as posted every Sunday evening and you will be automatically entered into the league table.
    2. Your ranking in the final standings, posted on Sunday evening, will earn you points, as follows:
    Place Points: 1st 14 2nd 13 3rd 12 4th 11 5th 10 6th 9 7th 8 8th 7 9th 6 10th 5
    3. Every player taking part in a WHC, but finishing outside the top 10 will get 4 points.
    4. Every player who is in the table, (ie has entered a previous WHC) but does not play that week will get three points each week.
    5. Players that join WHC after WHC#114 will be awarded 3 points retrospectively for every WHC missed. For example, if you enter WHC for the first time at WHC#124, your name will be added to the table, with 27 points, plus whatever you score in WHC#124.
    6. Specialist Challenges will also feature throughout the season. These will be as monthly mini-series, for example Formula 1 February or Muscle Car Month, or nominated car types, for example the best driver in road cars. These events will be announced in the WHC Thread.

The updated Championship league table will be displayed in a new post in the Console Lounge each week.

At the end of the year, the WHC before Xmas week, the winners will be declared -
    * Championship podium
    * Specialist Challenge Winners
    * 1st place Contributor (the most Bonus points)
    * 1st place Loyal Lapper (who has entered most regularly, most often, if there is a draw, Bonus points count, then Champ points)

Managed to stabilise the car by upping the rear rebound dampers and dropping the braking force to 97%, otherwise it's stock.
Now I just need to learn where to brake and turn in, get consistent with that and slowly improve:D

This car does feel a bit reluctant to turn/understeery at times but it just means your asking too much of it. That said slowing the Ford consistently can be tricky as it suffers from a fair bit of brake fade, especially at the end of the back straight.

How different we all are, I hate the vanilla GT40 sounds :D
