1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Generic Weekly Hotlap Challenge #129 – Sixth element is seventh heaven

Discussion in 'Console Lounge' started by Totall Wrytoff, May 19, 2019.

  1. Welcome to the thread for the Weekly Hotlap Challenge #129 – “Sixth element is seventh heaven” and the Final Round of “Il Campione d'Italia” mini-series. Ben fatto a tutti!

    The Challenge:
    Hotlap
    Car: Lamborghini Sesto Elemento
    Track: Vallelunga
    upload_2019-5-19_21-28-42.png
    upload_2019-5-19_21-28-52.png
After last week’s sliding around, we will be revelling in traction and grip. I least I hope so!

This week we are going to thrash and crash the priceless Sesto Elemento, Lamborghini’s high-performance limited edition lightweight track-only super special.
Like the Ferrari GTO, the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento occupies the rarefied position of a flagship product of supercar manufacturer.
The Sesto Elemento was revealed in Paris in 2010 and Lamborghini announced plans to produce twenty cars (…track use only), with each car costing US$2.92 million. All twenty cars were snapped-up before the start of production, with some priced at over £4million. Surprised? I’m sure the bean counters at Lamborghini regretted not going for a run of thirty or forty.

The car is very loosely based on the Gallardo. Very, very loosely. The Sesto Elemento has a one-piece carbon fibre monocoque and carbon fibre body, drive shaft and suspension components, reducing the overall weight to an astonishing 999 kg. Compare that to the hardly porky 1410kg Gallardo LP560-4. Hence the car’s name - Sesto Elemento/ the Sixth Element – which on the periodic table, is of course, carbon.
The Sesto Elemento uses a 562bhp tune of the Gallardo’s naturally aspirated, 5.2litre, V10 engine, giving a Veyron beating 570bhp per ton power-to-weight ratio and driving all four wheels through a 6 speed semi-auto gearbox. I like the way the exhausts exit just under the rear wing:
    upload_2019-5-19_21-31-53.png
The Autodromo Vallelunga Piero Taruffi, to give it its full name, nestles in the Lazio Hills 32 km north of Rome. The circuit started in 1951 as a tiny dirt oval, converted from a horse racing track, but in 1957 Italian racing driver and engineer Piero Taruffi was brought in to create a new track, providing a better challenge for drivers and test facility for manufacturers.
As I’m sure everyone knows, the circuit is also home to the one and only Kunos Simulazioni, who occupy a pit garage as an office.

The Sesto Elemento feels brilliant here and I think you’ll find threading the car into turn one, Curva Grande, at over 150mph, catches your full attention!

There is a choice of tyres for the Sesto Elemento - Semislicks or Hypercar Trofeos (def. “Trofeo is a Trackday and Competition Summer tyre designed to be fitted to Passenger Car.”)
I assumed the Semislicks would be the faster tyres, but I did a test with each using the recommended pressures below and I started with the Trofeos, normally an advantage to the Semislicks as I would have practiced the lap. I did an outlap, then two clean laps on each. The Trofeos felt grippy and very good in the braking zones, but in a couple of places around the lap, I had to really catch sudden, lift-off oversteer and like last week with the GTO on the Street 90s, the body control felt wayward. So I expected the Semis to be much faster. In comparison the Semis felt hopeless in braking, (add about 30m to your stopping distance) and nothing like as precise on turn in. They do give much better stability to the car though. But the lap time difference was very surprising. Despite trying much harder on the second lap, the Semis couldn’t get close to the Trofeos. The Trofeos, in my quick test, are about 2.5 to 3 secs a lap quicker. Quite the opposite to my expectation, so I googled Trofeo and found this from a 2013 Auto-bild tyre test - "Dynamic and sporty driving qualities on wet and dry roads make the Trofeo almost an all rounder. Thanks to precise steering and good feedback, the slight bias towards oversteer is still easy to control." Hmmm... you have to be quick! I think the rear end twitchiness from the Trofeos is because of the shift in balance from the the much greater front end grip. The Semis are sliding into understeer where the Trofeos just grip and turn.

    Anyway the recommended pressures are:
Semislicks, front and back are 34psi
Hypercar Trofeo, front and back are 32psi

How to take part - Hot lap:

    Weekly Hotlap Challenge Championship League
    How it works:
    1. Enter the Weekly Hotlap Challenge as posted every Sunday evening and you will be automatically entered into the league table.
    2. Your ranking in the final standings, posted on Sunday evening, will earn you points, as follows:
    Place Points: 1st 15 2nd 14 3rd 13 4th 12 5th 11 6th 10 7th 9 8th 8 9th 7 10th 66
    3. Every player taking part in a WHC, but finishing outside the top 10 will get 4 points.
    4. Every player who is in the table, (ie has entered a previous WHC) but does not play that week will get three points each week.
    5. Players that join WHC after WHC#114 will be awarded 3 points retrospectively for every WHC missed. For example, if you enter WHC for the first time at WHC#124, your name will be added to the table, with 27 points, plus whatever you score in WHC#124.
    6. Specialist Challenges will also feature throughout the season. These will be as monthly mini-series, for example Formula 1 February or Muscle Car Month, or nominated car types, for example the best driver in road cars. These events will be announced in the WHC Thread.
The updated Championship league table will be displayed in a new post in the Console Lounge each week.

At the end of the year, the WHC before Xmas week, the winners will be declared -
    * Championship podium
    * Specialist Challenge Winners
    * 1st place Contributor (the most Bonus points)
    * 1st place Loyal Lapper (who has entered most regularly, most often, if there is a draw, Bonus points count, then Champ points)

Had a bit of a go to learn the track last night. I prefer the semislick but I think you're right they are slower. I think. Couldn't get a clean lap with those tyre. Especially the last few corners. So touchy. Anyway great combo again.

Thought I’d try a few laps while I can. Actually helps to take your mind of things.
    Very nice combo totall
First time driving this, had to lower tyre pressures a lot to keep them green so thats probably loosing me lots of time, well that’s my excuse out of the way

    Thankyou !!!!
Yeah I used the trofeo with pressures at 28f (20) and 30r (22) which helped to keep temps up and grip but it’s probably costing me time.
Once I get used the car I’m going to raise the pressures again and see what difference it makes.

Well done and thanks for the time and effort you (and @Tibor Sólyom) put into this so we can enjoy a unique event. 999kg and 562bhp...wow!

Quite chuffed with this opener, think I'll have another go whilst the going is good.
Last week I went early, then spent the week trying to overtake the ghost, which is no fun and like pushing water uphill.

It's a pleasure and a bit of privilege to host WHC, but it is nonetheless very gratifying to hear your appreciation. In our engine, that goes down like a tin of Sunoco!:)

Edit - I will also add, those sorts of comments can shave around 2secs off your laptime by the end of the week!:D

This car is useless with the tc on, and the brakes are pretty terrible, and its so stiff that it'll buck just like a bull at a rodeo. But I will say it is pretty fun to drive mostly because its got a lot of power and I like to slide around feeling like a superhero. Its a chore to tame this beast and thats what I love about it. She got a little feisty with me on a couple of corners so there's a little room for improvement, of course.

Does anyone know if the Stig recorded that laptime with traction control on or not? I was quite a bit quicker with the tc off than the stig, but with the tc on he got me by 6tenths. I spun a lot more times in practice than he did though!!
