1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Generic Weekly Hotlap Challenge #139 - Super lap, superfast, super Spa!

Discussion in 'Console Lounge' started by Totall Wrytoff, Jul 28, 2019.

  1. Welcome to the thread for the Weekly Hotlap Challenge #139 – “Super lap, superfast, super Spa!”

Please note, from this week, the closing time for WHC entries is changing to 18:00GMT on Sundays, that’s three hours earlier, so I don’t miss supper and for easier admin. The following week’s challenge will now be posted shortly after 6pm.

    The Challenge: Hotlap
    Car: Ferrari 812 Superfast
    Track: Spa Francochamps
    upload_2019-7-28_21-13-34.png
    upload_2019-7-28_21-13-43.png
This week the challenge is to enjoy THE BEST combustion engine ever built, probably, whilst driving around a sort of triangle in the South East of Belgium.
Spa Francochamps… arguably THE best circuit in Assetto Corsa, along with Brands, Nords, Zandvoort, Silverstone, Mugello, Imola. But Spa is just fabulous. The reason we are at Spa is to properly enjoy THE BEST combustion engine ever built. The Tipo F140GA. Spa has just about enough room to fully stretch it out.
A perfect starting point for the best combustion engine ever, is to be the flagship V12 from Ferrari. And, my God, this V12 is absolutely magnificent. It is sensational. It will take down a long straight faster than an angry chainsaw goes through a sapling and is similar on the the ear in aural ferocity! It is a mechanical orchestra of power and sound.

I’m not the only one to pick up on the sound…this is brilliant! (but don’t share with the wife…won’t understand at all!) Click on, scroll down till to the image as below and click to listen. Genius.
    https://auto.ferrari.com/en_EN/sports-cars-models/car-range/812-superfast/
    upload_2019-7-28_21-14-29.png
Also, have a listen to one of your replays from the "chase 1" camera. Induction, compression, explosion in a rising frenzy. The sound of you deploying the throttle around Spa has breadth and depth similar to that offered by a bottle of Chateau Canon 1982 with a Montecristo No.4. Hat's off to Assetto Corsa!

Back to earth! The engine is called the F140. (I like to say “Eff-wan-hundreeed-anfowteeeee!” in the way the darts score is announced, but I’m sure “eff centoquaranta” is better.)

The F140 is a 65° DOHC, water cooled, aluminium block, V12. It has been used in a number of different cars, in a number of different configurations. In fact the Ferrari LaFerrari uses the F140 but it’s only 6.3 litres. It was increased to 6.5l for the 812.
The F140 made its debut in 2002 in the Enzo Ferrari as a 5998 cc unit, where it set the record for the most powerful naturally aspirated engine in a road car. It grew to a 6.3l, then in 2017, Ferrari increased the stroke, to create the Tipo F140GA at 6496 cc. It is the most powerful naturally aspirated production engine ever made. Let’s have a quick gawp at the figures this thunder-god summons-up:
Firstly. Eight Hundred Brake Horsepower! At a frenzied 8,500rpm!
Two thoughts occur to me right away:
    1. In a 6.5l V12... that’s quite big bits of metal moving very, very quickly!
    2. 800bhp is 789 horses. Imagine there’s no combustion engine, but three hundred and ninety-four pairs of actual, rampaging horses, (a horse is about 2.5m in length btw.) The train of horses for the 812 would be OVER 1.3km long! The lead pair would be rounding Les Bruxelles as you were coming up through Eau Rouge! Oversteer! And the smell!
    upload_2019-7-28_21-15-29.png
Another good figure is 530lb/ft torque, (718NM) at 7,000 rpm. That’s more than an 8.3l Dodge Ram SRT, which has lots, and about the same as the Ferrari SF15-T F1 car say no more. 7000rpm sounds peaky but 80% of that figure, for instant tyre shredding, is available from 3,500rpm.

Of course, with all of this focus on the engine, one would imagine we’re running a track-only supercar. But the 812 Superfast is positioned as a Gran Turismo. It’s an effortless Grand Tourer. No it isn’t!!! It is a full on, superfast, Supercar! Here’s a quick quote from the brilliant Evo Magazine, about the 812’s approach to being a GT. Usefully, they’re running a feature this month, the Ferrari 812 v the Aston DBS Superleggera:

“a long-legged gait is replaced by a frenzy of action so extreme it feels almost chaotic, the engine is so savagely sharp… measured dynamics makes way for extreme agility and a manic, hyper alert personality. Forget tidal. At times it can feel like you’ve been caught in the thrashing, disorientating, furious break of a 100ft wave as it hits the rocky coastline.”
Interestingly, the journalist admitted he got nowhere close to full throttle during the drive to the location!

So we’re at Spa, it is super fun, this time a decade ago I was there, here are just some of pics, (nb: Nicole was pinching my... hence shaky and I’ve lost a lot of weight and let my hair grow back, ) might post more pics throughout the week.
    upload_2019-7-28_21-16-14.png
Enjoy the combustion this week, use precise inputs and a calm mind to best exploit this razor sharp engine, it is almost certainly one of the last of its kind.

The 812 runs on Hypercar Road tyres, Pirelli P Zeros in fact, the rears are about £350 each, before fitting and balancing! Recommended pressures are 33psi at the front, 34psi at the rear.

I used schnipps tune for mugello downloaded from the setup market. Adjusted psi, and fuel.

This is a fun car, lots of power and it handles pretty good. Only had time for a quick go today. Summertime fun will be had this week and next, so glad to be able to go for a rip in this beast.

    OK then!
Fun one - Here's the door to Jenson Button's private loo, deep within the Brawn hospitality unit.
It's very, very far from a normal loo. Inside, we're talking a refreshing 15 degrees cooler, mood lighting, fragrant sandalwood, wide teak seat, broadsheet loo paper, a range of luxury soaps and other stuff I didn't recognise. I was in there for hours, it was joyous and profound relief.

Nice car! 1st time I'm on a circuit I'm comfortable with. Despite that, not even near the fastest guys. Honestly, I don't know if I can get below 2.35, at least with current setting.

I felt the car understeering in the beginning and increased a bit the camber on front wheels to -1. Any feelings on that?

PS: attached picture shows me trying to return to box with fuel exhausted.[IMG]
