1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Generic Weekly Hotlap Challenge #142 – The first step to greatness

Discussion in 'Console Lounge' started by Totall Wrytoff, Aug 18, 2019.

  1. Welcome to the thread for the Weekly Hotlap Challenge#142 – The first step to greatness.
Please note, the ambient temp is back to 26degC.

    The Challenge: Hotlap
    Car: Tatuus FA01
    Track: Vallelunga Classic
    upload_2019-8-18_18-50-0.png
    upload_2019-8-18_18-50-10.png
We’ve used the Tatuus before in WHC, so I scrolled back to page 16 of the Console Lounge to check out what happened in the “Tatuus Millionaire” Challenge at Brands Hatch, set by @moodyryder back in October 2017. And, if there was some explanation regarding its title! (I have a theory.)
I thought you would like to see the results from nearly two years ago (I’ve only included regulars) with Moodyryder’s summary and Lewisxbone’s response:
    1 - 1:21.336 Daniel Perez - PC
    2 - 1:22.211 Lewisxbone - xb1
    3 - 1:22.625 Pretend racer - PC
    6 - 1:23.354 moodyryder - ps4
    12 - 1:24.797 Mike Reynolds - PC
    13 - 1:24.985 Laughing Gravy - ps4
Daniel Perez shows his ability with a fantastic late lap to take the win. Congratulations to Lewisxbone on a superb 2nd position; a real example in perseverance and getting the most you can from a car. Pretend racer rounds out the podium with a great lap early in the week. Thanks to all who posted a time, #55 is up and ready

    Lewisxbone –
Finally!!!!! It’s only took me 10 months to get on that podium

Look at that, it was Lewisxbone’s first podium!! 10 months to climb the ladder – how very fitting for this week’s challenge:
Here is the FIA statement regarding a Formula 4 Championship to explain why:
“The primary goal of the (F4) project is to find most talented young pilots and to prepare them for their big future in Formula One. Each pilot or team is provided with engineers and mechanics. All teams use Tatuus FA010 chassis.”
The “young” bit made me laugh, but this week is all about following the first steps of virtually every F1 driver out there and climbing the ladder to the top.
Formula 4 is the first key step in a driver's career. Success here leads straight to F1. Lance Stroll and Lando Norris, both drove this very Tatuus. In 2014 Lance Stroll, driving for Prema Powerteam, had clinched the Italian F4 Championship title by race 15 of 21.

So what is a Tatuus FA10? Tatuus is an Italian chassis manufacturer, founded in 1980. They are one of the four manufacturers currently approved by the FIA to supply Formula 4, the others being Mygale, Dome and Crawford.
The Tatuus FA010 has a carbon composite monocoque and is powered by an inline, 4 cylinder, 1.4l turbo developed by Fiat Powertrain Technologies Racing division. This lightweight unit delivers around 200hp and 250Nm (184lb/ft) of torque, which doesn’t sound much, but the car weighs under 500kgs without the driver. I would wreck the power to weight ratio in real life, luckily it’s not a factor here!
Transmission features a flyweight, racing flywheel, a twin, sintered plate clutch, a sequential six-speed gearbox and a LimitedSlipDiff.

So would you like to know exactly how to set-up your Tatuus? Have a look at this! It is a link to the Workshop Manual!
You must have a look, it’s utterly fascinating - http://www.csai.aci.it/fileadmin/documenti/workshop-manual.PDF
    upload_2019-8-18_18-53-31.png
Vallelunga is an Italian F4 Championship race venue and so the first race in AC’s Special Events is “Tatuus Race” around the full circuit.
Vallelunga Classico is known as The Old Circuit although it isn’t quite. In 1959 the circuit was a 1.8km sand oval and from 1963 onwards it held the Rome Grand Prix. The Classic layout came later and offers a great mix of corners. Some of them are surprisingly close to flat out and it will take some dialling in to build up speed.

But just imagine - you are back in your late teens, this is your big break, now is your chance to shine out from the crowd!
As the author Michael Wright said - “the first step towards greatness is taking the first step.”

Go out there, aim high and be cool, be brave! Go for it!

Recommended pressure for the Soft, Medium and Hard Slick tyre is 25psi.

Just to kick us off gently.
Medium tyres, all settings as stock, quick shakedown.
I've never used a sequential shift before. I now have an excellent one, but it's like learning to drive again.
    It's laugh aloud, hysterically difficult:
As my left hand moves towards the stick, my left foot instinctively wants to do something. For example, I find I'm giving the brakes a good stab as I change up on the straight, or, my right foot creeps across to the brakes, only to find my left foot is already there! Don't even mention trying to brake and change down.
I'm going to have to re-programme primary synaptic paths through the old central cortex.
It's all a bit fuzzy these days. Stand by.:D

Am back.. had agreat time last night. I pushed a good bit so not sure how much I can improve. I'll say the top lads will be around 1.10. Seems far away from me. I wonder what is the time they do in real life for qualifying to this existing race. If I get a chance I'll look it up.

First few laps, usual 2-3 secs off.
need to find half a second on first split before I can improve.

Looking at the RSR Leaderboards a 1:09.2 is the top time, so a 1:10.4 seems pretty good. Really want to hit a 1:10.0 or a 1:09.9 before Sunday.

Well done @F1415182235 brill time mate.

How do you guys do it so quick and so easy?
I’ve probably done close to about 20 laps now and still can’t improve on a full lap.

There’s not many places to make mistakes yet I’m obviously loosing 2 seconds somewhere if a 1:09 is possible.

I started off with Roberto Olivettis(spelling?) tune downloaded from the setup market. I had previously used his tune in an online multiplayer session. On mediums I managed a 1.10.640. After a few laps I took some of the aero out and put softs on, I managed to improve my time to 1.10.3xx. Then I decided to try 76523804716287(not the exact right numbers) tune downloaded from the setup market. I liked how it handled the corners better than Olivetti's tune, but it had the wrong gearing and way too much aero. So I put Olivetti's gearing onto 723876r47623 tune and took out a lot of aero. I was able to set my best time with the bastardized setup, you can see it at the end of the video.

It might seem quick and easy, but in my case I have done 160000km and 31000laps in AC. Chances are pretty slim that I haven't already spent plently of time practicing each combo. Even if its a combo I haven't driven, I have likely driven the car, and I already know all the tracks, so picking out braking and turning points shouldn't take more than a few laps. Then it all boils down to consistency and setup. With the setup market app, I don't usually have to waste time trying to figure out a setup so I just concentrate on laptimes.

You may not believe me but when I first read the thread title on Sunday night my brain said to me: “it’s the ******* Tatuus...”
Clicked on the thread and I was right...
    :)

Coincidentally only a few minutes ago a teammate asked if anybody had a setup for the Tatuus, my reply was:

“Nope, drove it the other day and remembered why I hate single seaters won’t be making that mistake again”

So I will see you guys next week, have fun!

Haha...the *****Tatuus! Too funny @LeiF! Regarding joining the WHC 142 party, well....I will have to wait until tomorrow at least. You see, it started off with me getting new pedals...then @Totall Wrytoff would have none of that, so he buys the whole Fanatecal shebang! Not to be outdone...I have, in progress....a CPU and GPU upgrade so the rig is without the PC today but is getting some needed adjustments and maintenance. That should be it for a while BUT....that old G27 is bound to give up the ghost soon...might have to do some window shopping just in case! Cheers, guys...have fun on the road to F1!!
