1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Test Track with Skidpad

This isn't a wishlist, it's a respectful request for a practice track similar to:
    https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/skidpad.5554/
    https://assettocorsa.club/mods/tracks/test-loop.html
    https://assettocorsa.club/mods/tracks/suspensions-test-track.html

    https://assettocorsa.club/mods/tracks/daimler-teststrecke.html
    https://assettocorsa.club/mods/tracks/eboladrome.html

and even Mugello with it's combo of turns etc.

A skidpad track is more practical for testing out a car and learning its characteristics and understeer/oversteer limits in a controlled environment, rather than a racing track proper.
It's also more efficient for testing out controller settings.

A well designed skidpad practice track would be a great addition to the learning capability of ACC. Not all of us are aliens, and tools to learn faster are always welcome - especially for beginners.

The point of a well-designed test track (which includes a skidpad) is you can iterate faster on specific training scenarios.
That means you can fit more training into the same amount of time, and with good feedback and critical analysis you learn a lot faster.

    Things like:
. Concentric circles for testing understeer/oversteer and control of them
. Sample track with examples of all corner types. Within reason, as obviously there are infinite combinations with surface, camber etc but you can have a subset that lets you test a few common types out.

    Can we get one? Please?

Personally I think that is a waste or Kunos resources. If you want to do circle work just pick any track. SP only please.. :D

You can still do experiments on car setup, they are not locked.
Besides what is the point of experiments on a skid pad, test area etc if different tracks require totally different setups ?
Preset setups are already good and allows good amount of adjustment to suit personal driving style without braking the car's behaviour.

The point of a skidpad it so you can test basic driving skills and setups on a track environment that is quick and easy to use.
It's the equivalent between going to a gym to exercise and actually running a marathon.

You can't use tracks like Paul Ricard because Kunos have made it so if you go in the "wrong" direction you get teleported back to the pits.
There's also traffic cones all over the place.

If you don't see the need for it you're not in the group of people that would most benefit from it.
The game is for people of all skill levels, and should be designed to accommodate learning to race as much as racing.

Curious why all the "guru" race drivers look down on people who want to learn more efficiently.
It's a subtext that seems to be in a lot of the replies posted here.

The game is sold to people of all levels. Just because you think you're an expert driver and no longer in need of skill development doesn't negate the need for good training tools for beginners using the game.

Its an official licenced game so dont expect any random stuff to be in including the skidpad...you dont see people go to Codemasters in F1 and ask for skipads or any other stuff because its not happening. Real drivers use PR for their testing days. Probably with a reason.. and even if they would not use PR for testing still they would use one of the tracks they have on disposal. Choose the track try what you need go back to menu and try next track loading times are least of your worries

tho i would love to see maybe in practice mode option with a slider to change grip weather on the fly...would be nice

Just because it's not in there doesn't mean it shouldn't be in there.

WRC 8, an official licensed WRC game, has a huge test environment level as well as 20 separate test tracks (also included in the test level) to train on with varying surface conditions and layouts/obstacles. It's a fantastic addition to the game.
Dirt Rally 2, an official FAI rally game, has Dirtfish test track you can try under varying dry/wet conditions.
PC had one, but they had to remove it due to live track 3 issues.

AC has many as it is mod capable.

So it's not inconceivable to include a more extensive practice system, even if it's licensed.

The game is targeted at users of all levels. It doesn't say "pro drivers only".

It's a design oversight to not include education and training aspects in a complex game that has a learning curve.
Better racers should not sneer at people who want to do this, but think back to when they were learning. Inclusion of better practice elements within the game also respects the players time much better as it's "all in one".

    >>tho i would love to see maybe in practice mode option with a slider to change grip weather on the fly...would be nice

On the fly changes would be nice to do as well. Saves time.

I think this request is totally useless. Anyone with close to zero knowledge have access to extensive setup material on race department, that it is much more learning efficient than self learning in a circular pad.

Every car has its track BoP, which it makes it more useless.

And even with your argument that ACC is for every level of skill, it’s not advertised as a training tool.

I prefer them to set their resources in more important stuff.

Practice, training, and education are as much a part of any race genre as the actual race itself.
How can you call yourself "authentic" if you don't fully cater to the whole experience?

If test tracks are so useless why would WRC 8, the official licensed WRC game, have a huge test environment level as well as 20 separate test tracks (also included in the test level) to train on with varying surface conditions and layouts/obstacles.

It's not advertised as a training tool either on https://www.wrcthegame.com/en except they do say "Since the release of WRC 5, Kylotonn and Bigben have prioritised listening to fans and gamers to see how to improve the game experience from year to year. Whether it's car physics, force feedback, game modes or rally atmosphere, the difference is in the details."

I guess Rally is harder than circuit racing?

A comparison to Rally & Rally X does not make sense.

  17. sonicviz

    sonicviz Gamer

That does not make sense, it's car racing.
Whether it's against the clock (hotlap++, rally) or against others (circuit vs RX).
There's difference in technique but it's still all about car control/setup, tracks/environment, and mental prep.

If your logic is correct no car racing game would have any training or practice component.
The fact they have some, even minimal like ACC, means they do recognise that.

    As they do test tracks.

It's nice you can go out to play on RL tracks, but this is a game with players who use everything from gamepads to crappy wheels to full on pretend racing rigs while wearing gloves.

not one of those examples ties to a GT3 driver.

Kunos have enough to do than waste time on this..
