1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Generic Weekly Hotlap Challenge #154 – An xbone-nentially fast ride through the park

Discussion in 'Console Lounge' started by Totall Wrytoff, Nov 16, 2019.

  1. Welcome to the thread for the Weekly Hotlap Challenge #154 – An “xbone-nentially” fast ride through the park.
This week I picked Lewisxbone to choose the combi but, as you may have noticed, he has been laid low with nasty flu, so I’ve taken charge! Sorry Lewis, I’ve a feeling this isn’t your favourite circuit either! I hope you feel better soon, I hope this week’s title doesn’t make you and everyone else gag!

    Challenge
    Hotlap:
    Car: Audi R8 LMS 2016
    Track: Monza GP Circuit
    upload_2019-11-16_18-8-48.png
    upload_2019-11-16_18-8-58.png
Before we start, I’ve discovered one of our team is not well. It is private, but nonetheless, I would like him to know, we would all wish the very, very best. You know who you are, I’m thinking of you as I write this, be strong, we are shoulder to shoulder.
    -----
This week it is the Audi R8 LMS 2016, not used so far in WHCs to date and we’re off to Monza in Italy.
Monza is one the the world’s iconic racing circuits, the Cathedral of Speed and it’s one of our least used major tracks in WHC. So we’ve got an unused car on a rarely used circuit, but serendipitously, I think it works well!
The Audi R8 LMS makes this track much more interesting than usual and I think shows off the dynamic qualities of the car. Planted through the high speed sweepers, great traction out of the slower corners and a great sound as the engine drives through the gears. The car gives you the time and composure to start to hone your time and its consistent performance helps with accuracy in braking and turn-in.

Automobile Magazine, having been invited to drive the car said, “Between the prodigious torque and virtually instantaneous upshifts, the car seems to gain speed exponentially”

Like the Huracan ST a few weeks ago, the R8 LMS is a customer racing car, built to GT3 regulations. It can be purchased by race teams and gentlemen drivers signing up to the Audi customer racing programme.
"If they're not having fun, they're not going to race," says Romolo Liebchen, head of Audi Sport customer racing. "So we wanted a car that was easier for gentlemen drivers to drive, and that meant improved traction control and ABS."
So, I’m acutely aware that the car won’t appeal to all WHC followers, (sorry LeiF,) but it’s nice and easy to drive!

The engine is essentially straight out of the street car, the only differences are upgraded crankshaft bearings, a deleted flapper in the emission-control system and the being rear drive only, the deletion of the four-wheel drive mechanicals. In production-car form, the 5.2L V10 makes 610 horsepower in the R8 Plus. Quite, quite crazily, for racing, the engines will be fitted with air restrictors mandated by various sanctioning bodies and top out at closer to 500 horsepower. Racing cars should never have less power than their road car version!

$491,650 is what you’ll need to play with Audi. Compared to the £250k Mercedes quoted me, it seems a bit on the highside….

    upload_2019-11-16_18-10-18.png
    Va bene!
Autodromo Nazionale di Monza, located north of Milano amongst the trees of the Royal Villa of Monza park was originally built all the way back in 1922. It is long and very fast. Dump the aero, lengthen the gears and go for speed! (Actually, gears in fact might need a bit of shortening, the stock 222 mph seems ambitious.)

The current circuit has an infuriating chicane at the end of the start finish straight, so you make or break you lap time in turn one! There’s nothing worse than trailing you ghost car around for the rest of the lap… It is all about the braking, so get that right, consistently! Once through, you are off and away, free to enjoy a ripping ride the through the park.
    And it is!
This appears to be a popular combi on RSR. The fastest time is a 1:46.468, which is just under ten seconds faster than I managed with totally stock settings – way too much aero and an almost unreachable 6th gear – but still, that’s a much bigger gap than normal!

Tyres are slicks – Soft, Medium and Hard - Recommended pressure is 26psi front and back for all compounds.

  3. Having had another go around Brands, I think I'm pretty much done there, so I've just had a quick go at this, done half a lap and I just had to break off and report;

The braking and the way this car slows is an utter revelation! Don't want to be a snowflake, but, OMG!
Massive retardation, I mean eyeballs against the windscreen massive, and with such sweet feel.
Compared to what we have been driving recently, WOW! Cool! Deeeelicious.
Very exciting, I had to break away to post!:D

Absolutely do NOT try this combi if you intend to have another crack at last week's, I suspect it will be almost impossible to re-adjust in time!:)

EDIT: A 1.46?!!! On current form I would be thrilled to post a time in the high 49s.

Gosh, am gonna have to throw the setup (and my driving?) in the bin if I'm to gain any more than about another second here. Have already dropped the rear wing to 3 but probably 0 should be the next stop :D

Loving this combo. It is definitely my kinda car, easy to drive:)

Having my most consistent session ever in this regularly lapping in 1.51 (high) but finally managed I avoid all the sausages on the corners and got this in.

I suspect I will need to study some videos and there might me some sets ups to be done to get this down further but its the best I can manage today.
    Good luck all .

Decided to drop in and have a quick worship at the cathedral of speed...

Did 6 laps on mediums with completely default setup, then went back to pit and adjusted PSI, gear ratio (one click down on final drive), lowered TC to 10/10, ABS to 9/10, Brake Bias to 64, and emptied some fuel, did 2 laps on softs, 48.8xx, checked forum, insufficient, restart session, 2 more laps on soft.. that'll do for a moment (10 laps total).

Not a bad car actually for a GT3, but still prefer the AMG if you were going to force me to race GT3, as that suits my driving style a bit more.
Still could do with lowering ratios more, barely getting into 6th and PSI would require further adjusting for softs as I used mediums to set the pressures. Also diff needs some tinkering maybe raise power and lower coast one click each.

Couple more seconds in there gents, get cracking :)

Getting there....still messing up the chicane before Lesmo, Lesmo curves...oh yeah, Ascari too. That's pretty much the whole track that I am messing up! Haven't got the hang of planting this car through those corners...trail braking seems to be working but alas, my skills are not yet up to the sub 1:50....! Found a setup on the setup market that really turns down the dampers and that has some promise as the car must handle a few ripples without getting unsettled.

My first attempt at the WHC, so hopefully I've posted correctly! I haven't many hours in AC compared to ACC (around 40 hours compared to around 500) so it's been a fun challenge adjusting, as they drive quite differently :)

I've just tried the challenge in reverse, with the 2019 Audi in ACC. The differences are very noticeable between the 2 titles....ACC definitely feels like a more sophisticated driving experience although that's to be expected as it's focussed only on GT3. Braking in particular needs to be much more modulated with more trail braking needed to rotate the car (granted its not the exact same model). It took me around 30 laps and a bit of set up fiddling to get close to my AC time, still nearly a 10th slower in ACC though....

That was a really interesting comparison to read Mike. For me, coming to AC from ACC the braking feels vague and turn in under trailing braking is more pronounced. But having said that in AC it feels as though you can throw the car around a bit more and it’s an awesome drive!

Time wise I’m pretty much a second slower on this track in AC compared to my best time ACC.
