1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Generic WHL 181 Evora Ever After

Welcome to the thread for the Weekly Hotlap Challenge 181: Evora Ever After

    Lotus Evora S
    Nurburgring GP (GT version)

Our illustrious leader Mr Totall Wrytoff is a very organised man. He has a very nice spreadsheet of all the WHL competitions with all the cars used and how often the various circuits have been included.

This week I am finally doing as I'm supposed to and I've chosen a car that hasn't appeared yet.

We have quite a few Lotus cars left, so here you go, it's the Evora. (Cue howls of derision from the back of the class)

Not the most popular cars in AC these. I've gone for the basic one with the manual gearbox.

    20200530_212338.jpg

I know nothing about it apart from the front end looks like a crazy smiley Manga robot.

    20200530_212952.jpg

Anyway, here it is in action. I enjoyed it to be honest, but then again I'm driving it slowly.

Well I've had a quick go. This is one of my least favourite tracks, especially the stupid Mercedes Arena section at the start .

Only need to find another minute and 1 second to be ahead of @Totall Wrytoff o_O

2:19 is really a good time I must say. I need to get used to the car. Went one lap out and did a 2:21.xxx. The track is really hard and I prefer the old layout instead of , as Peggy says, that stupid Mercedes Arena

    It was getting late!:)

I'm really no expert at all, but I think key to a good lap is in the front tyres.
After quite a few laps of washy understeer on default, I increased the front camber to -1.2 (console value not actual) and pressure up by 1psi. I also changed rear toe to zero (actual value.)
This transforms turn in (for me:D.) It feels quicker and so much more confident into the apex.
These tweaks gained me 1 second around the lap.

Setup at the end of the vid, which should be up soon.

I hadn't driven this car before but I was able to find a few tunes from the setup market. I used Scnipp's tune for this track. I changed the tires to semi slicks and adjusted psi, and fuel levels. After a few laps to get familiar with the combo, I was surprised to find myself really enjoying this car. This car handles the way I thought the elise should. It understeers a little bit, but its manageable, it can hold a drift relatively easily, and it still rails around corners if you can balance it properly. Fun car.

I think this is a great track for this car, or for any car really. Its got good flow, some tricky bits, a good combo of low and high speed corners. It is hard to pass on though.

Schnipp's tune had quite a bit of rear toe dialed in, so I took a page out of TW's book, and I lessened the rear toe a few clicks. That help loosen the rear end up and made it easier to control the car for me. I left about 2 tenths on the track because I messed up the second sector a bit. I'm sure someone (cough, cough - @GoodGame.eXistenZ ;)) will be able to find them for me. :p

Like many of you I do not like the Mercedes-Arena. Like the old ayout a lot better, but the track is surely nice. The Evora is ok, but as you know, it feels too spongy comparedd to the Elise. Too heavy and gears are wayyy too long :D

Sadly I think that's it for me this week. The combination of my dislike for this circuit, and now my dislike for this car have sapped any lingering motivation to improve further. :(

I can understand your dislike. I learned to overcome a certain dislike for some cars and try to learn something from it, this way I am able to improve my knowledge and my driving. Everything is a chance. While it is up to everyone to see a benefit here or not, it surely does not harm your driving, as the turn in is quite something on this car to get right.

In the meantime I am waiting for my 2080 ti to arrive. The new monitor is simply a blast to game on. Getting 100-120 fps with SOL and shadows + cubemaps off on MP with the 2080, so I am positive to get stable 120 with the 2080 ti.

Yes I see your point, I won't get any worse driving this thing. It may well drive me round the bend though (no pun intended)!

Lets hope the new 2080ti doesn't make you any faster :p

  16. Neilski

    Neilski Alien

That sounds like a modest but rather expensive upgrade! Maybe the 2080 will have held onto a good fraction of its value for a resale though?

  17. GoodGame.eXistenZ

    GoodGame.eXistenZ Hardcore Simmer

I got the 2080 quite cheaped used on ebay, so I can make a small profit of it. The 2080 ti is used too, so yes, it is an expensive upgrade for 20-25% more performance. But, you see, I spend quite some time on my computer, so I see it as an invest in something I like. Besides, I am pretty serious about racing (as you know), so I am a person to not let faith decide over anything and try to get the most out of something I possibly can. For me a random stutter can be a game breaker (result in a crash) so I really take no chances.

@Peggy11 I have cars that I simply dislike, too, and of course I try to not drive some cars, but the lesson learned remains true :).

The WHC deadline for you is Thursday 6pm BST!:D

Does anyone know how we can resolve this?

Also, @krambulle , for future, we need to see all of the details in the screen pic, (Ambient Temp/ Hotlap Mode etc etc).

    GoodGame.eXistenZ Hardcore Simmer

OT: So as some might know I am running World Sim Series. Second round was VIR circuit. During qualy I was blocked in all my three qualy runs, robbing me of the pole. In the race I had a perfect start and was side by side with the leader and was hit from the back, sending me to the last position. Fighting my way back through the field, I was hit again and went onto the grass. I was able to finish 2nd anyway, but man I am pi***d right now. This would have been pole and win for sure... This is just not acceptable for a league with some actual prize money to win.
