1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Generic Weekly Hotlap #88 - German efficiency runs like a swiss clock

Welcome to the thread for the Weekly Hotlap #88: German effiency runs like a swiss clock

    The Challenge.

    Car: Mercedes-Benz C9 1989 LM
    Track: RedBull Ring

    ambis.jpg
    Assetto Corsa_7.jpg
The story of this car is like two convergent roads coming closer and closer until they meet and become one.So, there are 3 parts in the story of this legendary group C beast.

    Part 1 - Sauber
Once upon a time (early '70s) a young buissness man from Switzerland called Peter Sauber decided to start his own racing team to race prototype cars. His first prototype - the C1 - ran in the Swiss SportsCar Championship and it was a success - what better way to start your career in team managment than to win the first championship you enter?
Many cars followed the C1 (always with a "C" in the beggining, to honor Sauber's wife Christine - a much better wedding gift than a simple diamon ring in my opinion! - ,and a number in the end. So,we have the C1,C2,C3,and the list goes on... ).
With great success, comes bigger dreams. So,the story of how Sauber entered in the endurance world starts with the C5 at Le Mans in 1977 and 1978 season using a BMW engine. A few years forward and we are in the 80's Group C regulations, completly dominated by Porsche and the infernal 956/962. Sauber knew his cars were good, but the engines not so much.Facing financial issues,we sold this only car left and started to work on a seemingless dead-from-the-start project - the C8, a car without an engine supplier.

    Part 2 - Mercedes
1955, tragedy at Le Mans, with more than 80 spectators dying from a crash envolving a Mercedes. The german team withdrew middle race, never to race again, they promissed. But 30 years later, they decided to return, even if it wasn't with an official teams - some of the wounds from 30 years ago were not healed yet. They just had to find a good and promissing team to supply engines, and that would be good enough...at leats for that time period.

    Part 3- Sauber Mercedes
And,just like two lovers found themselfs by randomly crashing against eachother in the middle of the street,Sauber and Mercedes found eachother. One needed an engine, the other needed a team- a macth made in heaven!
The C8 did well enough, but Sauber already had plans for it's improvment - the C9.Still, despite a couple of highlights, the car did only good enough to not shame anyone, but it wasn't great enough for Mercedes, so the decided to put more money and invested more in the swiss team. Results: brilliant championship in 1988 with 5 victories, losing only to Jaguar. Still, not good enough. Also, they didn't ran at Le Mans that year (safety issues due to a tyre bursting in practice. 1955 wounds, always around).
So, it comes 1989 and with it the new V8 M199, generating +750 bhp and 380 km/h, perfect for the long straights of La Sarthe.A silver arrow was back on track (literally, because that year they decided to return to the old metallic livery, instead of the black livery they were using in previous years).
And...they won quite easily. Both Mercedes got the first two positins, both Mercedes ended in the first two positions. The story had a happy ending, and the partnership continued for some more time. The next model, the C11, became famous because it helped in introducing one of the most legendary drivers in history,a young german driver by the name of Michael Schumacher...

    pist.jpg

I had amazing fun at this track a couple of months ago, using a Porsche 962c Long Tail. I was going for that combo, but the 962 short tail has been used before, and the Sauber is the only group C car left.
Its quite the challenge! The turbo, combined with an oversteery car, makes it difficult to go around in some parts of this track. Huge trottle control will be needed here, aswell pure handling and instint skills. Nonetheless, it's one of my favourite combos: Group C and RedBull Ring go well with eachother, just like Sauber and Mercedes!

    The Rules.

    Mode: Hotlap
    Time of day: Free
    Ambient Temp: 26 Degrees
    Setup: Free
    Controller: Free
    Assists: Factory
    Stability: Free

If it isn't mentioned here then assume the setting is free.

Please make sure you have the ambient temperature set correctly, and that you are in hotlap mode, I really don't like disallowing times!

    The Deadline.
    Sunday July 22th 2018 - 23:00 GMT.

    How to take part!
To enter simply head into the game select Drive > Hotlap and choose the Mercedes-Benz C9 1989 LM and head to RedBull Ring Make sure you setup the session using the settings detailed in this thread and hit the track!

You can run as many laps as you like and update your times as often as you like, its simple :) All Platforms are welcome, it is all about having fun and enjoying Assetto Corsa.

To submit a time, pause the game and select 'session' from the menu and screenshot this page or take a photo of your screen and post it in this thread - Note all the information from the screen is required including temperature, mode heading and of course the car being used!

Feel free to post video clips and share information in here as well, but without the session screen your time will not be included (placing the session screen in a video clip is acceptable).

You also need to state the time and your platform in the body of your post, this should be the first thing you do, the image should then be placed below the text. It would also be helpful to mark updated times with Improvement. This makes collating the results much easier. Also,to avoid mistakes on laptimes, please enter them with the format x.xx.xxx. This format makes it easier to work with Excell.
A leader board will be collated from time to time, this will keep everyone up to date on where they currently stand...Unfortunately editing of posts gets locked on this forum so this post will not be updated.

Feel free to use the unofficial leaderboard but remember you still need to include the session screen in this thread to be included in the results.

Good luck and have fun ;)

OMG, what a nice one I must skip, I love this car! We go to holiday on Friday for a week so next weekend I can do some laps out of competition :(
I think I never tried this combo, very curious...

This one's very frustrating... Just how I like it!

But seriously, making it through the first turn without spinning or wrecking feels like an achievement, let alone the rest of the turns. This thing is straight business on 100% turbo!

This car is a real handful. The turbo is insane. Even in a straight line the thing wants to kill you. Getting on the power exiting corners is a challenge, it feels like I'm waiting ages before I can get to full throttle.

Ouch. Getting this thing out of those slow corners will be difficult. Red Bull isn't a favourite of mine but I shall give it a go in good faith. This would have been an epic car to use on the old Osterreichring circuit, not an option unfortunately on consoles.

So many circuits neutered these days. I understand why and that's not a debate for here. What I would have loved to have seen would have been an Assetto Corsa historic title. Project Cars seems to have embraced that side of things with Spa and Le Mans; I suppose at least we have Monza & Silverstone on A.C.

I guess the Pc's have mods that include all the old circuits, so the answer is clear. It's not a route I'll be taking however.

Big gains to be had in a car like this I'm sure. A bit downforcey for me :p

Yeah there is some terrific classic content for AC on PC to name a few outstanding mods Bridgehampton and Riverside by LilSki, Thomson Road GP and Feldbergring by Fat-Alfie and Donington 1938 by Jim Lloyd

Check out this video I made at Feldbergring (it shows off a few cool PC mods) I'll hide it behind a spoiler thingy as this isn't really the place. Best served with plenty of volume!

I took quite a while to work up to full turbo, and I still think I might be quicker if I reduce it a bit... LOL.

Giving it long gears (especially lowest 2) can help get the power down quite a bit. I have mine geared to do 12x mph in 2nd and am only using 4gears. Based on RSR I think I end up with lower top speed but great traction in 2nd gear :)
