A random thought about the rating system

My online experience with ACC is very positive regarding other players stability in race. I’ve seen players with ping as high as 250 and was able to race without any issue, just as with players with 100 or 50.
There is some yo-yo effect but only when the player in question has his ping changing constantly, from 200 to 150 to 100 back to 150 and 200.
Still, this higher ping players are more unusual, because what it’s common is to see players with pings between 50 and 100 and, yet, players with ping as low as 25 are much easier to find than with 250.

 

I wondering if there were a mode/area which doesn't affect our rating evaluation like "Open Pratice" or "Test Drive" on Iracing ? for friends, family..

 

Yup, IMO ratings should be disabled for practice mode.

 

Especially when my SA rating went to 5 because I did a lot of practice.

 

There isn't a great deal that can be done regarding our isolation here in Australia. It can't all be great living here or your all come here too.

With the server list if it favoured showing local servers it would keep more of the local people in the same servers. Our example of a small user base and isolation means the best user experience for all is to stick to local servers, if most servers are showing Euro servers then many here will just click any of these and get a worse mp experience due tonthw latency.

Many have no idea what ping even is and it's more often the Europeans that join our servers and have no idea what's going on as they are so used to the vast majority of servers being local for them they don't even look at server ping or location.

Sure it ends up looking worse if the server list has only a few servers to choose, but I think it would be better to try encourage sub 200 servers for all and then all would get a better mp experience. Also it will help bring the more isolated regions together and actually raise their user base and help the rating system do it's job better.

Scattering many of these people to other servers worldwide just adds latency issues to all these servers and isn't ideal for either side.
