1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

About track limits abuse

This is one of the things that work really well in iRacing. I rarely feel that the punishment is unfair like some of the penalties you get in AC. Glad to hear it’s getting a redesign for ACC.

Well, it isn't possible. If you don't believe me, try it yourself.

Yes, multiple times in online races. Mind to upload a video where you get a cut for that? Please change the perspective as well, because only then it is visible whether or not you really took the corner like in D. Jankovic's pic.

There you go. Tried it offline by checking it out going slowly, two wheels out are allowed offline. Servers usually run two or three wheels out allowed, so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to cut like that.

Like DuckeyTapey said you can configure online servers in more detail than the offline settings.

Thanks. Weird. I always got a cut when i even wasn't on the grass, but had all wheels on green/the big bollard there. I get that there's a difference between qualifying in race though, but, the occassions i got a cut there WERE in the race. So, yeah, not quite sure what i should think of it. Maybe i always happened to race on servers with more strict rules.

In our AC League we ran PLP with custom tracks which forced two wheels on the track at all times, (curbs are not the track) 4 strikes, 5th is a drive through, cleaned up the driving standard and made better drivers and certainly highlighted drivers that would cut corners to get an advantage , has made a fair and clean racing environment and a strategic one if you keep track of opponents strikes.

"So penalising people beyond this isnt correct unless they are making a huge gain on purpose, but how do you get the system to understand this?" -that was and is a problem.. yes.

Fairly easy I’d say. Have it look at the time through that section, was it faster then on a lap where the track wasn’t cut? If yes then penalty and if no then no advantage was gained so no penalty. This would also remove the annoying penalty you can get if you make a mistake and have already lost time then get a penalty on top of that

That gets a bit complicated as conditions change. Perhaps I cut the track and don't gain any time relative to my best lap, but my best time was done in the dry with fresh tyres and my current lap was done on a wet surface. That's where it gets tricky.

Yeah, agree that there’s a fair amount more to it that makes things complicated, any improvement here is welcome though. Being punished twice effectively is especially annoying

I say let's wait and see how the Kunos guys have done it, then we go from there if necessary.

    Nice!
If you mean custom versions of Kunos tracks, is that officially "ok"? I mean, is there an official stance on whether it's ok to tweak the KS content to work around their deficiencies limitations?

why don't games just use real world penalties?? track abuses = drive throughs

i really can't understand how sims that try to be realistic completely neglect real world penalty systems, just suppliment it with slowdowns for what is quite obviously the "cheating" corner cuts, so MASSIVE cuts get these only and track abuses build up to a drive through like real life

Things were a lot easier when tracks were lined with grass and gravel... Oh I wish for that to be the case now.

Personally, I am more in favour of a fairly liberal track limits approach. If its qualifying, then yep, make any cut which is deemed too much lose the lap, but don't them slow them down as well, just make the quali lap invalid. In the race I would suggest a more relaxed approach. Give drivers 1-2 jokers where they can run a little wide and not get a penalty. Then increase the penalty if they ignore.

    1-2 cuts = Warning
3-5 cuts = Time penalty post race (10+ seconds etc)
6-9 cuts = Drive through penalty

Also race lenghts need to be considered. E.g. 2 cuts without penalty during a 3 lap race can be a relatively huge advantage compared to 2 cuts in 200 laps.

I watched some Porsche Supercup from Monza recently. Man they were riding those sausage curbs at the Roggia chicane like it was a rodeo show. And also all 4 wheels outside white lines in almost all the corners where it was possible.
Quite the contrast to the Blancpain race there in april. Seems like the rules are not nearly as strict in the Porsche cup.

I think the main reason may be those short races that are so popular. In a race that's an hour long you can serve a drive though without completely destroying your race. In a ten lap race people may just quit if they get a race ending penalty for something they see as a minor transgression.
