1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Anyone interested in a specific server?

    Hi,

I'm running a server hosted by RS for over a year now. So far, it's been running with various tracks and cars, featuring mods as well as vanilla content. Unfortunately, it's been empty most of the time. I know I could make some advertising like e.g. ALOOG does. But thb I don't have much interest in spending time on that. ;)

So I asked myself what could be an interesting and appealing combination. When driving on Banditos's Tourist server today, I thought to myself that maybe a Tourist sever with Minorating might be nice in order to have a much less annoying experience with less wreckers. On the other hand... there are already too many Nordschleife Tourist servers, I think. ;)

What do you think? Any ideas or suggestions for a specific server combo? Yes, it's my intention to start a wishlist! :p;)

ALOOG-6 does that (when no cup event is running) and it's mostly empty, so I don't think that's the way to go.
But you could try, of course.
Just putting a server up and hoping for the best might work if you hit a sweet spot that many people like (like that wild west Monza server), but it's very likely that it will be empty most of the time.

If it were my server (I'm thinking of setting something up in 2017), then I'd aim for providing a series of events.
If you don't want to invest time for that, then tbh I think your money would be better spent to support one of the good server communities like ALOOG or support the MR database server by donations.

Short races with the drift AE86 with slicks on short tracks. In Best motoring style. I never see this car on slicks in online play and yet it is a lot of fun.

Yes, I saw that. But my idea was more like putting up a server with street cars. I just don't like BtG with racecars. ;)

It's also there for the possibility of having my own custom server in case I like to race something specific with my friends. ;) But it's still there in the meantime and it'd a bit of a shame not to use it for the community. :)

In general its not hard to make a busy server, pick a combo do some laps and once it gets a few people in all the other sheep join in. To make a server busier but higher driving standards is more of an issue. Even if many complain about poor driving in pub servers most still only look for a busy server and dont care if its mr or what filtering its got. They then simply want to try vote kick most that are already in there even though the only reason they joined is because those people were in there.

If you want a server you actually want to run in then set it up as you want and run laps. The general pub server users dont care about a server as long as its full then will complain about this server they chose to join if its not what they want lol.

I even had a guy join our league practice server the other day. He didnt even run a single lap but just chose to type "crap car crap server" :D Nobody forces people to join a server and all the info is there in lobby lol. Not sure what he expected to get from his stupid comment byt at least everyone in the server had a good laugh at him.

Asking people what they want is pointless, I run 6 servers and take suggestions in my own thread yet of those suggestions that have been made. Very few actually over a year maybe 5 or 6. Many of those people that even suggest a combo dont join the server unless its already busy so mostpy they stay unused.

I only run fairly strict mr servers now so at least anyone that joins can expect to not have to deal with the worst people. A full open free for all server is the last thing I would ever want to run any laps in amd so I dont even want to run more open MR servers. Yet this is what most want even if its in combos they dont like and then they complain then that they are the only servers arpund when there are hundreds others unused. MR is a great system but its too complicated for 99% of AC mp users to understand what it does and why even though they dont need to do anything to get a rating beyond joining mr servers.

I have ran more opem servers and they would always fill up. But I joined them and they were so bad I didnt want to run in them and babysit, I also didnt want them to be associated with my other servers. So Id much rather race with a hamdfull of good drivers then a full messy server.

Even MR ab when full can get a little messy so I dont kow why people look for more open servers that are full if they actually want some reasonable racing.

I think the selection of cars is quite random, if you have wishes, just address TDS, he might be open to the idea.
Same as above. andy-riches, who admins that server, is very open to requests.

Of course you are absolutely open to setup and run your own server, just brought it up since you said you don't really want to invest time into organizing events.

Yeah, both of you got some good points there.
I guess you're right: In the end I'll have to promote my server or use it on my own on a regular basis. At least, if I want it to be used. ;)
However... now, the thread is open... let's see if there's a "market niche". ;)

I dont think it takes too much promotion as such. Even this thread if it gets enough interest you can get things kicked off. Some may suggest something and if you get a small group of people interested in it then it will get busier just by having a few users in it.

Getting some sort of community based server is always a good idea. I think thats pretty much how all get started but unless you have regulars actually search for the servers and get them started they will likely remain empty.

Many dont seem to look for empty servers and quite often even if you jump in and run some laps you may end up solo.

Thats kind of how if there is something I want to run I will just put it up and rather then practice offline which I hardly ever do. I just run some laps on the server, at times its amazing what combos will fill up but others I just get in some practice.

Sorry about the excessive typos in first post and likely here as my phone typing sucks.

usually i will search through the online list to find a car/track combo i would like to race, but mostly end up with no satisfactory results. occasionally i will then just hop on a (always empty) minorating server with a car that i have experience with and practice the track, in the hopes of people showing up, no luck :) ... in the end there is always one of those nordschleifes, where i just vent my frustration by trying to improve my clean laptimes in a car without causing a mess....

i like racing the AE86s, the tuned version can be quite a challenge i think, also i immensely enjoy the ford escort around tracks like VIR, riverside or bridgehampton.

personally i also enjoy just grip racing around some of those small japanese tracks (mostly conversions made for drifting i guess....) with the basic ae86. this is also something you don't see online - probably because i would be the only one enjoying this. haha...

  11. Rolf,

A wide variety of relatively closely matched road cars at official tracks would be my choice......without ballast. I prefer to drive my cars as they come, not with half a ton of lead in the back seat ;)

Andy Riches, is a star find for ALOOG. He is friendly, respectful and one hell of a great racer. I am lucky to call him an e-friend. If you can replicate what he is doing, obviously with your own style, then you will not go far wrong. Good luck as the more policed/user friendly servers as possible is a great addition to the lobby.

P.S. It is always best practice to have active admin looking after their server/s.
