1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Assetto corsa vs project cars.... who will win?

  1. Just spent about an hour with the latest build..it is such a mixed bag....BMW Z4 GT3 at Nords wasn't too bad other than extreme understeer using default setup...the street cars are horrible, no other way to put it...and my GTX 770 is nowhere near powerful enough, game looks okay, not great, and fps is all over the place. There is still a lot of work to be done before it is ready for release IMO.

    And the FF ?

  3. Again, mixed bag....didn't feel bad in the BMW Z4 GT3 but felt like a big spring in the street cars....This was just by firing the game up and playing, I didn't mess around with any ini files which some people say makes things a lot better. For the most part it just feels like 'almost a sim' to me, but something is just missing.

Thanks, mate. And everything with that grain of salt that you don't even know if you really had the right tyres, session type and so on, right? ;-)

I also have a GTX 770 and agree with you. Dunno the technical details but personally, this GPU should be able to play a new game with medium settings at 60 FPS, especially a racing sim. I think it's the developers duty to provide some setting that works and I'm glad AC works like that. Hope pCars will, too.

As you speak of GT3 cars - this one really disappointed me: in pCars, they would just not burn! No number 11s even though the tyres were cold and the manouvre was well-executed by master hooligan driver LeDude83 :p Max revs, drop clutch and the engine would just bog down. It was sort of discussed away by community, mods and devs as a NFS-like feature you can easily give up. This really shocked me, actually and is where I stopped following. I believe that this unusual behaviour will affect every other dynamic state the car can possibly be in.

  5. I've had the game for a couple years now, I know how to set up the session and tires. Today I was using sunny weather with light clouds; pretty much replicating a beautiful day to go driving. My favorite feature though is setting it to use the current real world weather, and I am jealous that we don't have that here.

I should probably lower a few graphics settings, but even running it on 2x downsampling with most everything on high it doesn't look anything close to what you see in most of the videos that are out there. I was getting 5-10 more frames with the same settings than I was a month ago so hopefully a bit more optimization will happen between now and release.

Overall it is much better than it was just a few months ago, and I doubt it will ever supplant AC as my go-to sim, but it will still be fun for running combos that aren't available here, such as Radicals in the rain at Watkins Glen. I might try unplugging my wheel and use a game pad instead, something tells me that it will be more fun to drive that way while using chase cam than treating it as a realistic simulation.

its really a damn shame if the road cars arent good. was hoping theyd be competitive w/ AC on that front. they do have some nice 'race-likes' (bac mono, ariel atom, etc) that i doubt we'll ever see officially in AC, so hopefully they can at least nail those.

love the ability to use real-world weather, def my favorite rf2 plugin. adds a ton of immersion for me.

its possible, i just havent seen or heard anything about them attempting to get those cars. seem very focused on road/gt.

@Michael Hornbuckle the game pad support is still pretty bad. I've read in their forums people complaining about it but nothing seems to be done yet, hopefully they will before release. I drive from exterior view in pcars as the car models look so nice.

Gonna be a fun racing game, but it doesn't satisfy my need to a more realistic simulation. That has me kinda disappointed as when I first bought the game I was under the impression it would be a full blown sim.

I currently run Pcars almost daily to learn the Nords and before the AC version comes out. Interestingly, I got the best FFB ever out of Pcars using only the Telemetry to drive the wheel. The driving physics are actually quite solid, the game-provided FFB can be great once you understand all of the settings. There are a lot of parameters that have secondary adjustments such as smoothing for different suspension inputs so it takes some time to figure out but, turning down the TF or MS is a must for most wheels or it's center-spring dominated and I think that's why you see so many negative comments about the handling. Once dialed in, the FFB is as good as anything else, maybe better in some ways but, I should point out that I am an "immersion" player more than a serious competition player.

Some of the current issues IMO are with crash-physics and overly-forgiving default car setups. The overall grip levels feel higher than other titles so saves are easier to make and one has to push quite hard to find the edge. I agree that many of the road cars are not that great but, they do a good job of providing a wide range of driving characteristics in the overall game. The Audi R8 and the Ruf road cars are fun drives IMO but, the GT cars are all very good. I find the Atom and the Mono to be really fun along with the Formula's. The vintage Formula cars have required major tweaking to get decent FFB but, using the suspension data for FFB showed impressive results so I think they will end up being very good although, the L49 & 72T felt wrong for me. Those are known to currently have issues to be sorted out.

Game performance is very good for me, far better than AC currently is on my system but, I only run with a dozen AI cars with the DK2 so that is my baseline comparison. Light rain and night don't seem to cause any major issues for me either, even on Nords so I can't complain. DK2 use requires constant 75 FPS so I do have some of the more-demanding graphics settings turned down.

Michael is right that there is a lot of work yet to be done and SMS is working fast and furious to polish things up but, expect some post-release fixes and updates. Overall, I don't see Pcars as being a replacement for AC; it's a decent racing title that offers some different aspects of the racing experience better than others but, not in a hardcore Sim way either. I would rate it as being at the forgiving end of the Sim spectrum but, there are some very challenging cars in the group as well. When combined with the racing dynamics of changing weather/day/night, it fills a gap in my racing experience quite nicely.

Wow, the new PC build is awesome !

Its a blast how fast the SMS team is delivering new builds. Nearly every 2 days a build.
Here in AC everyone would be happy with the progress of 2 days SMS after 2 month of KUNOS team.

In the past PC looks just great, but now it feels also great. RUF at Watkins Glen :D:D:D:D
Also the features and the communication / interaction of developers and customer are excellent.

I like AC but I love (now) PC. The visuals are just a kind of porn o_O

I am really looking forward to the official release of PC.

Bye bye hot lapping (AC) ; say hello to racing in PC !
I had also very good MP races in PC.

The PC AI is also very good. Aggressive but very very good.

I hope the KUNOS team will find a way to prove their very good performance. AC was my number one racing game for more then one year, but
    now things changed.

I think KUNOS are doing a big mistake with the public relation. Nobody have a clue whats coming next.
Ok, Lambos and a new Nissan, but who needs more cars for hot lapping.

imo it also depends on your hardware, I heard pcars is better for higher end wheels, and I can confirm that on Fanatec it's fantastic.
I'm surprised thread like this exist and that there isn't more hate in it ( as is in every other thread where someone mentions pcars)

:( agree, I would really want Kunos to start making AC into proper racing sim, not just driving
they already have very solid base,

modders can always create more cars and more tracks, but we can't make core features of the game for Kunos, only Kunos can do this - and that's exactly why they should.
yes, it will take time and that's fine , but it woudlnt' hurt to outline some updates, things they want to add

not it's not, gamepad is very 'casual' and limited, i don't like it at all in pCARS. it needs lot of tweaking to get it where you want it, but it lacks the AC smoothness around the center - which makes it very tricky for fast cars
pC definitely on wheel, unless the gamepad will all of a sudden become great - which I do have doubts about ,. and it's a shame since it will be mostly played by people on gamepads

Right ! I have a very good rig. CSW2 , triple screen and everything you want.

Main problem with Kunos is, weak connection to the community. An outlook for the next steps would be nice.
But please: First things first. Improve the engine and then the content.

For my, the content is ok. The community is very active with giving us new cars and tracks, but we still have a **** AI.

I think a lot of people have a misconception of Cars, judged it way, WAY too quickly. My 2c: you're missing out if you simply don't get both. There's a level of immersion in Cars that's not to be found in other titles including AC. The controls is a big thing and take time to figure out. Judging physics/handling from a malfunctioning controls setup is WRONG. It's the same with AC.. AC was terrible for me at the beginning and now it's pretty awesome.

As for it's low-end and mid-end tolerance.. yea, there isn't much, but they do assume their audience is well equipped. From it's inception, I knew SLI will be required to properly enjoy it. Either that or a monstrous gpu like the Titan X.

I think people should remember that the software is the least amount you're going to spend. It's the hardware that matters after all. A tough rig and a properly good wheel are required to enjoy any of the major sims. I dare say "go big, or go home". :)

Well, i remember at some point someone called PCARS the screenshot simulator.... i do believe now the sentence will come back to haunt them.... AC is phenomenal when you are alone on the track... dont understand what the hell changes so drastically when trying to racing :/ really... its been fricking months with stuttering haunting the dam GFX engine, ive spent thousands of dollars because of AC and no matter what i throw at it theres always some crap haunting it or theres a bazillion tweaks to be done, i spend more time tweaking this then playing :/ , Game Stock Car on the CRAP rFactor engine online experience is vastly superior.... i dont get how since november or october ( more or less since fmod implementation ) the engine is still on this pitifull state, not to mention the online....

i dont understand how pCARS w/ controller can be awful or 'a big thing that takes time to figure out' when its supposed to RELEASE on console in a month.

i really just wish they would stagger releases. PC users, frankly, are used to getting beta ports, we can deal w/ a product that still needs a bit of polish; most of the fans will be enthused in fact. console i think its a totally different story.

the fact release is now just a vague 'mid-may' seems like i might as well take it as 'meh...we really have no idea but want to hold on to your preorder money'. and you know, ill let them, bc even tho i have to, i cant wait get it! but really wish they would handle this better & the controller thing is pretty much disturbing. i really did not expect that to be a big concern heading into release but i dont know if they release a "wheel strongly suggested" sim, or if the projected budget can allow for that hit to sales. it was already prob (even w/ assists), if done properly as a sim, going to be more difficult than forza or driveclub. 'practically unplayable at first', even by experienced racers...you CANT do that.

sorry to rant but i have literally been eagerly waiting for release since last OCTOBER (when it was 'only a month away').
