Bathurst 1000

lol apparently the race got red flagged for 1 hour because a piece of tarmac was causing accidents with 100 laps to go

 

Missed it Any stream links of the first part of the race, I heard it got red flagged after 60 odd laps but would like to watch anyway.

 

Yes it was turn 2 was breaking up and pushing the cars into the marbles, the cars that came 1st and 2nd both ended up in the tire barrier on turn 2 during the race. The amazing thing was how much work they done to the cars during the break, they could do anything except change tires, change drivers or refuel, it was almost as entertaining as the race.

 

Yep, that red flag just got me, I had slept earlier in the afternoon to stay awake through the night, but I couldn't help but fall asleep 20 laps from the finish

Such a shame, because just like every endurance race at Bathurst, it's been awesome all along.

 

Brilliant race. First time I've watched it from start to finish and I can't say any motor sport has captivated my attention for that long. Gee I hope Kunos can do one of these cars and this track. It really is Monaco + Monza on a roller-coaster taking speed. Amazing.

Feel very sorry for VanGisbergen though. He would have won it.

 

I know. I felt bad for the Giz the most. What a shattering end for him.

 

That's racing, he should of given it a bigger boot full gas, because they don't use tire warmers the wheels usually spin up with out much gas when they drop the air jacks, hot slicks would of had 3 times the grip, his crew chief should of reminded him. Bet he never does again.

 

Glad you non - Aussies found our legendary race as enjoyable as we do. I usually watch the start & about the first hour, go do something around the house, come back & watch a bit more with lunch & then watch the last 20 or so laps, but I was totally glued to my seat with yesterdays race, so much happening.

 

I was out in the morning got back just after lunch thinking id missed the first half but luckily they took a time out for me. Was some very good racing after the red flag with lots of hard luck stories towards the end. Funny how the final battle was between the 2 cars that started on the last row of the grid.

Seeing Kunos already has license deals with Nissan and Mercedes if they scanned Bathurst one day then it would be a fair chance they could get those 2 cars. Also have a deal with Chevrolet so the Holden could be possible with only the ford being a brand they have no other cars signed up with currently.

 

It will be interesting in 2016-17 with no Holdens or Fords being manufactured here in Australia anymore. We know Ford is importing the Mustang, and Holdens are going to be importing a V6 Opel from Germany and may be the Camaro from Chev. Have been told there wont be any Mopars a few years ago they tried to enter the V8 super cars with Chrysler 300, and were told only Australian manufactured cars can enter, 2 years later they changed the rules now we have Mercs, Volvos, and Nissans no wonder Chrysler are not impressed. Imagine a field of Mustang, Camaro, Merc AMG's, Volvo, Nissan, and if Chrysler forgive Dodge Challenger, Chrysler 300. Have also heard they might implement the badge swapping rule like some drag racing classes example; Mazda badge swapped with Ford in real life so a Mazde can run Ford V8, Toyota badge swapped with Holden so they will be able to run Chev motors. Will have to wait and see.

 

Mount Panorama aka Bathurst is a must in every serious Sim !
