1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

I recently got a second gtx1080 and am impressed with the scaling in AC. This is at 7980x1440 triple screen maxed settings in game just no motion blur (doesnt work in triple mode anyway) no fxaa as regular aa works better and not needed to chew some performance to make the image softer.

Min FPS has always been an odd one as this is before the game even loads, once I can see the track and other cars FPS was already over 100 and never dropped below it. With 1080 SLI you possibly could run 4k triples at over 60fps assuming vram isnt an issue and should be able to get 1440 at 120 or 144hz min fps with a few minor graphics settings reduced. My CPU is a i76700k @4.6ghz and 16GB 3200MHZ DDR4 ram.

I think so...but I would have to use the DSR feature to mimic the 4K since I don't have a 4K monitor; however, as I attempted this I noticed that the AC Launcher Video control panel's resolution pull-down menu didn't list it when I turned on DSR. Not sure if it's my system or a bug since the last AC update. Anyway you can verify?

Marty, any idea what sort of benefit SLI gives you? Obviously a 100% increase over 1 card is unlikely, but keen to find out if I should go 2 x 1070 Asus Strix or a 1080Ti.

Spare yourself the trouble of SLI and go for a single card, I would say.

I can do a single test tomorrow comparing to SLI, the scaling is actually quite good (not 100% extra maybe 80% at the higher res) if playing in 4k or 7680x1440 as I do with my triple setup its a considerable boost. 2x gtx 1080 are a bit faster then a single 1080ti. Seeing I already had one and didnt have VR I figured getting a second 1080 which was at the time about half the price of a 1080ti worth having a go at. VR if they ever do SLI per eye rendering would get a considerable boost in SLI too but for some odd reason no games support this feature that was marketed a bit with the 10 series cards.

Hard to say what 2x 1070's would perform like but you can see my comparisons with the 1080ti, I dont run too many games honestly mostly just racing sims or driving games and they struggled a bit at my res with a single car but all fly now in SLI. I think a single 1080 just a bit slower then my old GTX titan first gen sli setup. If your using VR though currently best to avoid SLI until the games you run in it do work in VR SLI and others have confirmed it works well.

Out of curiosity, is there anything specific you didn't like? Low resolution? Low framerates? Did it make you sick?

  14. martcerv

    martcerv Alien

For me low resolution and small fov are the issues with current VR devices. I see more peripheral vision on my triple screen 3x28 inch setup then in VR where its like looking at a single screen with head tracking while in reality you see much more and can just use your eyes to see mirrors or to the side. You don't have to turn your head and even if you do you still can see the opposite side but in VR you have a very limited view. Turn to the apex and you cant see anything outside, look at the left mirror and again you cant see the right side, add to this the low resolution and its not got enough for me to switch from a triple screen setup. Both have advantages and disadvantages but until VR addresses both of those issues I would rather use a triple screen setup for racing.

Regarding my SLI on and off tests here are just maxed settings in 1080p and 4k with and without SLI. I couldnt find how to disable sli in surround mode without disabling a card physically or using some driver forced settings like NV inspector which I current dont have installed. All maxed except no motion blur or fxaa.

Note the min FPS is all before the benchmark is even rendered on screen, this seems even worse in SLI but its not that it actually drops to anywhere near these FPS in the run. Maybe would be better if the benchmark didnt start counting frames until after the game loads and the screen shows the cars on track, as this will have quite an impact on min and average FPS.

I see, that can be annoying for sure. Is there to way to change the resolution? For instance, before I got my Ultrawide I tested AC in a regular 16:9 1080p monitor, and forced the bigger resolution to see how it would run. Yes, my display obviously didn't actually display all those extra pixels, but I got back bars on top and bottom and the FOV was actually 21:9, and I could see more stuff. Of course, the quality wasn't as good and the black bars were annoying, but I wonder if that would make things better for VR (if the GPU can take it, that is)

It shouldn't affect Rift performance since it runs at 90 fps. At 1080p it's normal to see such high CPU usage.
