1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Your results may vary!:) This seems like a good place to point out that AI behavior tends to vary based on car-type and/or track combinations; I don't think that is unique to AC. Some tweaks are likely to be made over time.

I haven't raced much with the new Abarth but, looks interesting.:)

Quite an improvement this release, AI is getting better and better.
Thanks Kunos for all the joy and fun!!!

I agree that AI made a MAJOR leap and bound to being more raceable. I still think there's some work to be done, but this time since NEVER AC's AI generally make better decisions, and have less "gran turismo" fear going on when you're near them. They still back off a lot when you approach them quickly, or make a leap in a braking zone (I understand this somewhat because of understeer on T1, like online, every time.). They still have little issue making contact though, but not as much. There are more contacts that I myself could have avoided, as opposed to basically none to blame on myself. The AI seem to vary in overall speed between tracks a lot still. Brands Hatch's GT3 just seems insanely fast, but on Magione their relatively simple to keep up with. Maybe need some practice, but they are so fast on Brands, I can't even believe.

They drive up the inside, sometimes outside, they push to pass, they don't give up (AS MUCH) when you're 2 wide, and I think I had one 3 wide that ended in pit maneuver contact (I was the unlucky one in the middle getting hit), and I think that was more my fault, pushing just before corner entry to make 3 wide mid corner, but they didn't squabble suddenly and cause it to be worse. They stuck to it, and I invaded to impatiently. Car 3 stayed stayed far into the inside well AFTER the corner in order to avoid it.

I'd say job well done! Still more to do with them, but much better! I enjoy them now.

Having just spent an hour trying to make it through the first lap in the final KTM race of the career mode in Imola... No commends from me. Seriously, I can't remember it ever being that bad before. There is simply no way of not getting someone bump you in the back or diving inside with way too much speed and plowing into your side unless you voluntarily keep hanging at the back of the pack. Hideous. I don't think I was ever this frustrated even with Gran Turismo.

i find the career a course in frustration anyway. it is very forza-ish (start from the back, push your way to the front in 3 laps etc etc) those modes are the reason i left the xbox.

Like in the last versions they drive well most of the time, but there some conditions where they often make a mistake or are unable to react properly to the situation.
But it sadly takes just one failure to take out the player and some case other AI cars.
It seems to be improved to some degree, but I hope for some more finetuning.
At least they don't leave the track that much anymore and crash into nearby walls, while thats at least my impression.

People sometimes tell others they shouldn't break to early. First thats a common mistakes second if other AI cars block the turn/goin slow you need to or go offtrack.
Sometimes they actually react properly if you break to early, other times they don't seem to really detact that you breaked early.

    Edit: Oh, I missed @norbs post, well...that shouldn't happen. :D

In later events you have qualifying.
However the career was called a placeholder cause its no toppriority as far as i remember and they make a new one that hopefully will be included in the PC-version.
Till then: You can make a career/event with the career generator you mentioned in another thread, but you can change the careerevents and - for example - can add qualifying, too.

Yeah, I suppose the career mode is just broken. I tried the 2-11 cup. It's just as bad as KTM. It seems that the aggressiveness has been increased which would be great if only they had a clue. At 98% the AI seems to brake really late and then struggle to get out of the corner. That's at default, when there's no pressure on them. When pushed, they go into Perez mode: they brake desperately too late. If you're in front of them, they will hit you in the back. If you're on their outside, they will crash into your side and/or push you out of the track. There is zero adjustment to your driving style, so if you want to make it through a corner, the only way to have any chance is to drive like they do: dive to the inside as hard as possible and then try to survive the exit while preying of not hitting anything.

Sigh. I guess it's back to my favourite activity: hotlapping Nordschleife.

some good comments here, had a quick go again and theyre progressing but

alfa 4c at brands was a bit boring, ai just doing the conga, pretty stale, for the cars they find easy to drive they need to be more random and try more adventurous moves

gt3 at brands, i had some good fun but kind of ruined by ai still tapping brakes on apex of high speed corners (think i had 96 or 98% ai)
just kills the fun when you are battling and then have to back off because of this

No tried it yet, but sounds great! AI is mega important imho as online you never race with the exact car-track combo that you desire.

All I know is since 1.4 both of Tommy78's mods, the SEAT Leon & Audi TT Cup cars will now stay on the track. Before, they were always running off course, out of bounds and not being very good to race with.

Today I had a watched a couple good sessions at my 2 tracks with each of these cars. Good progress I think (?).

I couldn't beat the 2-11 career, I had to drop the AI down to 94%. I kept getting the impression the AI were much faster than me. On the long back straight at Magione I keep getting passed out at the end of the straight, it's like I don't have the same top speed. I don't race 2-11 or magione much so it could just be me. Outside of 2-11s @ magione I usually run AI at 98-100%, and generally find they're still slow. In GT3 races the AI seem very good. I raced the AI (22) on the nords the other night and they did put up a fair fight, I had actual honest to god tussles with other drivers over the course of a number of corners.

From the point of view of practicing for online races, the AI are doing a decent job now. They teach awareness and overtaking. I don't think they'll ever be a challenge to alien drivers.

does the AI have some sort of rubber band?

  14. No. The only thing they do close to rubberbanding is it seems they are more prone to make mistakes when you are a second or two behind them which usually gives you the opportunity to pass them.

Does that mean the AI get more detailed behaviour the closer the player is? IE: The AI would drive around in circles setting perfectly consistent lap times on it's own, but when the player gets near it starts adding detail into the behaviour, like making mistakes?

  16. plaid

They are very fast if there are no obstacles (cars), but they slow each other down (not doin well if the fastlane is (partly) blocked and make mistakes, not only if they are close to the player. Some situations are hard for them to handle. However those things happen in real races too, maybe just not to the same degree, cause humans can react to the 1000 of different situations that can happen and find a quicker alteratnive line, while they aren't faster alone.

BTW: Testing the Escort and smaller cars: GT3 cars don'T overtake as much or have problem goin next to each other cause their width.
The advantage of cars like the Escort is, that especially on narrower tracks the AI - and players too, of course - have more room for battles.

Another reason for more classic touring and GT cars. :D

But the AI seems really to avoid goin offtrack more now. Overall I would say its in the ok territory. Not great, but not bad either.
However A few races are often not enough to make a judgement. Dont tested Spa so maybe they still are slow on Radillion, for example. You need to look the whole field during a longer race with several cars and tracks to judge it, which is why the impressions are quite different I assume depending what people prefer to drive.
And some special cases like the ultra-haipin on Macau or a quick S turn with varying chamber/elevation/angle/and what not are maybe not possible by a "allaround"-AI.
In some of those they would need maybe a special behavior/help.

  17. They make mistakes even driving around on their own; but they seem to make more mistakes the closer a car is behind them. I have no actual scientific evidence to back this up though, these are just my observations in the little bit of playing around with the AI the last few days. They exhibited this same behavior before the patch, I just think they do a bit more of it now.

That all being said, the experience a person gets with the AI can still be completely hit or miss depending on the car/track combo along with the actual skill set of the player.

Seeing how far they have progressed in the last year makes me look forward to what they might be this time next year. Hopefully by then they will know how to properly defend their position, which combined with a working aggression slider could make them among the best AI ever. (along with fixing the downright weird and glitch things a few combos produce)

I got the same impression recently. I raced the escort on the nordschleife against 22 other escorts (amazing fun), I should have chosen the VLN layout as the nordschleife grid is just to small for that many cars.

If I got a good start and went up the middle in between the other cars all hell broke loose. If I hung back and let them through T1 without me trying to push they all made it through without incident and it was a great race after that.

  19. Hopefully at some point they will do a better job of not leaving the middle wide open at the start of the race; however, if it stays that way as a nod to the console crowd (wheeeeee I just passed half the field before turn 1!!!!!!!!!!! I'm awesome!!!!!!!!) I will deal with it and do what I do now which is either purposely have a crappy start so that I'm last going into turn 1 or pass a couple rows of them but then chill and ride in position for a turn or two.

nah it looks like when you are close, they got scared and run to the side :) looks kind of funny .. oh no oh no player .. crap .. i`m out ...
It is not really that bad .. I had nice door to door moments, even with decent three wide touring cars paint exchange .. but it is good to see we are moving fwd with AI and I`ll be dammed if AI wasn`t rock solid (is it how you use rock solid in eng? :) ) once game is finished
