Community poll historic Spa

I can't really think of any track out of modern ones that I'd prefer over historic Spa. Perhaps LeMans, but we've heard multiple times now that it's simply too expensive. How a track like COTA managed to get even 12% of the vote in that poll the other day baffles me. It would be nice for Kunos to do more of an official community poll like they did in the past with a short list of some real possibilities for tracks as opposed to a massive list.

 

The thing that excites me is that a lot of the original track still exists, OK it has probably been re-surfaced but scanning that is still way better than nothing. Kunos have already scanned it so the time and trouble of scanning is out of the equation. This will be the most accurate historic Spa its possible to make, this is a piece of history, really is any other team going to scan what remains? No other sim will have historic Spa like this...

I wonder how licence costs work out for this? Cheap? expensive? ZERO?

 

And to be short:
Scanning already done is money already spent. Why waste it?

 

Why not making the point cloud available to a motivated modder who will deliver his/her creation for AC exclusively? After all, there are people crazy enough to work on modelling the Targa Florio

 

I voted against. Why? Because I'd rather see other historic circuits, shorter ones. I find those monstrous tracks very tedious to race on.

 

There are some iconic cars in AC to race there, these cars, like Lotus type 25, were designed and buid for those kind of tracks.
Massive support for hystoric Spa, it's worth at least the price of a complete DLC for this track alone.

 

You need to go faster mate all of the drivers who raced on it feared it, even the mighty Jim Clark who didn't make a secret of it, and that alone says it all.
Simply put, if you find it boring, you don't go fast enough

I doubt I would give it much track time to be honest. The only reason I would drive it once or twice is because of the historic value, but for actual excitement and enjoyment, it wouldn't be anywhere close to be my first pick. With the size of the team (1 guy making the tracks) I'd prefer if they focus on more interesting tracks. I prefer the modern day Spa (except bus stop!) over the old one anyway, so perhaps I'm biased.

 

Could you pls elaborate a bit further? Interesting opinion, no pun, might I add.

It's easy enough to learn really. Not many corners (unlike the Nordschleife). Just highspeed all the way... one of those crazy tracks from the old days, where driving was dangerous, and the racing drivers heroic.

 

Ok m8, welcome to my ignore list...

 

Spa had a series of corners like old Curva Grande and Ascari at Monza 66, except at Spa you were also a couple of feet from someone's lounge...

The challenge is to take those fast corners as close to flat as you can, lift as little as possible. That's why you need historic cars as often with modern cars with downforce they become easy flat corners. You need the Lotus 49 or GT40 for the full on the edge experience in those cars though it's just magic.

 

I just saw this post. How about this? They release it as a DLC. That would justify the development time and effort. I'd be happy to pay a 5er or so for this.

 

The dev's don't seem to think historic content can carry a DLC pack in its own. Kunos must have marketing data to back this up but on RSR Monza 66 and the historic cars appear quite popular to me by times set.

I don't want to to turn this thread into a historic car wish list But I could name a few that would get people's attention... 60s-80s F1, touring cars, LMPs with Spa 67 as the track... I think it'd work

 

What a useless poll. Why not ask whether the time should be invested in historic spa or any other track? Like this the question doesn't make sense, as others have pointed out already.

 

NASCAR is actually super challenging but just few people here would prefer it and that's my point to go against.

 

A lot of peeps were disappointed when this track didn't make PCARS in the end. Would be great to relive it in AC.

 

HUGELY in favor...should be a decent amount of period appropriate cars by the time it gets released, too
