1. Do you need support for Assetto Corsa Competizione? Please use the proper forum below and ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Logs" folder in your c:\users\*youruser*\AppData\Local\AC2\Saved. The "AppData" folder is hidden by default, check "Hidden items" in your Windows view properties. If you report a crash, ALWAYS zip and attach the WHOLE "Crashes" folder in the same directory. Do not post "I have the same issue" in an existing thread with a game crash, always open your own thread. Do not PM developers and staff members for personal troubleshooting and support.
  2. As part of our continuous maintenance and improvements to Assetto Corsa Competizione we will be releasing small updates on a regular basis during the esports season which might not go through the usual announcement process detailing the changes until a later version update where these changes will be listed retrospectively.
  3. If ACC doesn't start with an error or the executable is missing, please add your entire Steam directory to the exceptions in your antivirus software, run a Steam integrity check or reinstall the game altogether. Make sure you add the User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione folder to your antivirus/Defender exceptions and exclude it from any file sharing app (GDrive, OneDrive or Dropbox)! The Corsair iCue software is also known to conflict with Input Device initialization, if the game does not start up and you have such devices, please try disabling the iCue software and try again. [file:unknown] [line: 95] secure crt: invalid error is a sign of antivirus interference, while [Pak chunk signing mismatch on chunk] indicates a corrupted installation that requires game file verification.
  4. When reporting an issue with saved games, please always zip and attach your entire User/Documents/Assetto Corsa Competizione/Savegame folder, along with the logs and the crash folder (when reporting related to a crash).

Damage and Collisions

The only time I can see a visual damage model being useful is in long online races where you could take advantage of someone elses damage by pushing them where you know they might be weak, IE: if they have aero damage you can push them in high speed corners.

Although in the real world you may not see that damage either and it would probably be up to your team to tell you about it over the radio.

Or some parts stay on the road, and you have to avoid them on every lap. :)

  3. no need to worry.
Circuit staff will do the cleaning.:p

I'm still on the fence with ACC (not a fan of Blancpain/GT3's), but I think collision physics (car deflection from accidents) and damage modelling (visual and performance) are an integral component to any racing sim. When you rub or crash, there needs to be consequences, penalties, fear of not doing it... and they add to the drama and excitement of motorsports. Without this component the racing seems too clinical and pristine. I hope the Kunos revisit this aspect in future and it may be enough for me to dip my toes back into the AC world.

Mechanical damage looks like it's a certainty. It's coming in some shape or form. Visual damage will also be there but it will be on a par with AC.

I'm not worried about damage too much, I think it will be at a good level. The netcode and how collisions work in online races is where people are looking for an improvement over AC. Need to be able to bang doors in a realistic way.

What´s important in my opinion is an effect on tyres if you crash, in GT3 racing it´s very common to see tyre failures due to broked body parts rubbing on the tyres.

  7. Is damage in the plans? To me it is also essential as OP says. Yes, this is not a wreckfest, and we should avoid contact at any cost, but everytime I come out unscratched after contact with obstacle, to me personally it is demoralizing.
